Re: [tw5] Re: Filtering an "or" condition

2019-05-28 Thread Damon Pritchett
Hey all,

I've given up trying to figure out what's wrong, so I want to start afresh
with a new blank Tiddlywiki file. What is the best way to make sure I get
all of my content over to the new file without the plugins &
customizations? Can I just export everything from the old file and import
all into the new file? Is bundler better suited for this?

Many thanks,

Damon

[tw5] Using $:/core/save/lazy-all seems to break list filters

2019-05-28 Thread Alfalfa Scout
I have a lot of lists based on filters. I have defined many of my own
fields to filter through for these lists. I have megabytes upon megabytes
of text in the bodies of tiddlers.

To save time loading the front page, I switched to lazy loading using
$:/core/save/lazy-all. But now, my carefully arranged lists based on
filters no longer work. For just one example, the missing page list no
longer shows what pages are missing.

Is there any way I could
A. generate these lists server-side, or
B. tell the lazy loader to load a few more fields I have defined, so my
filters actually show results again?

[tw5] Re: Best strategy for documenting TiddlyMap links/edges?

2019-05-28 Thread TonyM
Antony,

I am not a big user of tiddlymap yet. But to get you started on my reading
the edges are recorded in a json data tiddler. Such a tiddler should be
accessible as with any other data tiddler using the index and ## notation.
As long as you add a prefix it should be trivial to make an independent
tiddler for each edge on which to allow comments, using a batch button.

Tony

[tw5] Re: Filter for all tiddlers whose title does not appear in the 'list' field of another tiddler?

Ed,

Not an answer but a possible approach. Have a look at using the subfilter
operator. A subfilter that lists the set of tiddlers, another that lists
the items to exclude.

[tw5] Re: Using an existing TW file to start a new one

2019-05-28 Thread TonyM
Ittay,

This could be difficult because you are doing it in retrospect, had you
planned to identify the difference between the system and the content from
the beginning it would be simpler. I would have no problem with my wikis
because I take steps to keep content separate from solutions using naming
standards, bundles of tiddlers etc...

   - Someone with a lot of experience in tiddlywiki could do a quick job of
*some
of this* by identifying macro and template tags, overwritten shadow
tiddlers so if you are prepared to share your wiki, they could help get you
started (Contact me privately if you want me to have a look, I will respect
your privacy, I am a registered business, and well known here) No charge to
community members unless it needs too many hours.
   - However If you start with a new empty file (then install the bundler
plugin with the import bundle activated) , drag the plugins over save and
reload and make a copy of this and start to locate some of your
customisations and replicate them on the new site it may not take as long
   as you think.
   - The Bunddler plugin will keep a record of the tiddlers you import.
   - If you make copies of your wiki as you try something new if it breaks
just go back to the previous version.
   - You could use the filter [!is[system]] to list all non system tiddlers
and start to make inroads as to what you need to remove.
   - In the end you have have your own tiddlywiki edition "template"
without content you could use for making new Wikis.

This will be a learning process for you as you revisit old customisations
but it will give you the opportunity to review them, understand them better
and tweek them. The fact is new features and plugins often make customising
easier than before so you may find it quicker than you think. I would try
and understand what you do rather than just move everything, as tempting as
it may be.

Just writing a list of the features you want to keep or see in your new
wiki would be a great start because you can ask for help here.

[tw5] Filter for all tiddlers whose title does not appear in the 'list' field of another tiddler?

2019-05-28 Thread Ed
Hi there

As in the title, I am trying to filter for all tiddlers whose title does
not appear in the 'list' field of another tiddler, and I can't seem to
figure it out.

My specific case: I am using TiddlyMap, with edges generated using
tw-list:list. I want to apply custom node styling to all nodes that don't
have any edges going into them.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you. Ed

It would be interesting if you could try your hacked doc macro on the latest
prerelease that incorporates a number of performance optimisations to the
indexing performed by the core:

https://tiddlywiki.com/prerelease/

The indexing optimisations are described in more detail here:

https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/pull/3951

It’ll be interesting to see if you get any improvements, and to use the recent
improvements to the performance instrumentation to help identify the specific
filters that need improvement:

https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/3941

Best wishes

Its interesting to note that historical accounting of dates in the past was

I don't know. I've been customizing it over the years whenever I had a need
( getting a plugin or copy from somewhere). Isn't there a way to
just delete the "normal" tiddlers?

[tw5] Re: Is there any way to download TiddlyWiki documentation as a PDF?

2019-05-28 Thread SylvainComte
Hello,

Maybe spliting it in sub-chapters ?

I did hack the toc macro to make a book macro. freezes the browser tab when
using the whole wiki (<>)... But not if I uses book
macro for each first level chapter (see TiddlyWiki-Book.tid). I don't know
why...

It's a bit raw out of the box and needs a lot polishing but works (see
example attached - note i'm behind a proxy firewall so a lot of external
ressources are blocked) - nearly 900 pages!!! Had to put this on a sharing
partner (available only 7 days and 100 downloads. Be fast! ;-)

You may play with it by yourself : get the "book.tid" macro and the
"TiddlyWiki-Book.tid" tiddlers in your own copy.

cheers

How did you do your "customizations" ... Are this settings in the
control-panel or eg: ViewTemplate ... ?

You could use my bundler-plugin, to specify all tiddlers, that you want to
save. see:
https://wikilabs.github.io/editions/bundler/#%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fwikilabs%2Fbundler:%24%3A%2Fplugins%2Fwikilabs%2Fbundler%20tiddlerlist-plus-plugin.bundle

tiddlerlist-plus-plugin.bundle ... Is just a list of tiddlers.

In the right sidebar, there is also a "filtered bundles", that you can
enable.
eg:
https://wikilabs.github.io/editions/bundler/#export-this-to-get-it-all.bundle

have fun!

Probably!

But there is the case that IF a user deleted it in Downloads their next
save would again be $stem , not $stem (N) ... I think?

In practice, with regular use, of your script I think that is maybe likely
to happen as a user does routine housekeeping to prevent Downloads becoming
a swamp of excess saved wiki?

I did test of Downloads in Chrome with 20 numeric versions of $stem (N).
Then, (1) Delete $stem with no number; (2) Next save to Downloads from wiki
-> Result: next save is  $stem not-numbered .

Just an observation on browser behaviour!

Best wishes

[tw5] Best strategy for documenting TiddlyMap links/edges?

2019-05-28 Thread Antony Hilliard
Hello TiddlyWiki community,

First off, thank you to all the contributors and to Felix for TiddlyMap.
What a great platform for developing knowledge bases! I'm trying to figure
out how to develop typical industrial engineering task and work analyses in
TiddlyWiki, most likely with the TiddlyMap plugin.
(e.g. https://github.com/ahilliard/tiddlyWDA )

Documenting edge-types is very well supported
( http://tiddlymap.org/#Edge%20types ). But what approach have others
found best for documenting specific instances of TiddlyMap edges? The use
case is showing a draft analysis/wiki to an expert to ask for
corrections/critiques. This means it should be easy for a reader to
understand what is meant by each node/edge in the Tiddlymap.

Some options that have come to mind:

   1. Manually document each edge in the description in the origin and/or
destination nodes. Works, but not very elegant especially when drafting
   and moving edges around.
   2. Not document each edge, leave it implicit and hope that the edge-type
description is enough for readers ( not ideal since the whole purpose is to
   support debating/validating the links )
   3. Try to figure out how to link WikiText to the TiddlyMap
   auto-generated Edge IDs

How have others solved this issue?

-Antony

[tw5] Re: Is there any way to download TiddlyWiki documentation as a PDF?

2019-05-28 Thread TonyM
Folks,

I have built a Linear Table Of Contents that appears in a single
tiddlywiki, such as it would create a single tiddler with the content from
the Table Of Contents. Its working well, but It fails due to the size of
tiddlywiki.com (offline copy).

I can list all the titles but if I transclude the content for each tiddler
on clicking "done, the result is never displayed. The Wiki seems to
freezes, and closing the browser the only option.

I wonder if there are some settings that would allow it to work.

[tw5] Re: Is there any way to download TiddlyWiki documentation as a PDF?

2019-05-28 Thread bimlas
A possible solution is to install Kin filter
(https://bimlas.gitlab.io/tw5-kin-filter/) on https://tiddlywiki.com/ wiki,
create a new tiddler with the following content

<$list filter="[[TableOfContents]kin::to[]first[5]]">

  ! <$view field="title"/>

  <$transclude field="text"/>

Since the Kin filter is not used as a filter here, but as a generator
(blank braces), it lists the tiddlers in the order of the crawl. The order
roughly covers the order of the table of contents (It travels in depth
first of all), for example:

Open the print dialog (usually Ctrl-P) and the destination "printer" should
be the PDF format (available in Chrome for example).
