Re: [tw] Re: tiddlywiki5.tiddlyspot.com

2018-01-16 Thread JJHoneycutt
Thank you for your patience with me. I got it - fifth time’s the charm.

In my configuation (MacBookPro running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.2) only Google
Chrome would load TiddlySpot. FireFox placed TiddlySpot’s introductory box
half off the page and rendered differently (may be unique to my setup?).

I use TiddlyDesktop via Dropbox - because I do not have ready access to
internet often throughout the day, and take advantage of Dropbox’s “Lazy
Loading” (I think that’s what people mean when they say that).

As a result, I do not know how to get the online version of a TW5.html file
onto TiddlyDesktop. When TiddlyWiki version 5.1.15 came out I lost the ability
to keep my own version of it on my computer, so I go the day without it as a
reference!

So, I am running my local version of jwhoneycutt5.TiddlySpot.com
 on my system as Aardvark_tiddlywiki5.html
and will drag and drop the class assignments onto tiddlyspot.

Of course, this is unless you have a better suggestion.

JWHoneycutt

PS. Thanks again for your patience with me.

I have created a fourth instance entirely on chrome, but it does not get to the

One of my problems is that you have a popup window that is half off the screen

[tw] Re: How to Reduce font size of tiddler title and the (default white) frame around the tiddlers?

2018-01-16 Thread 'Surya' via TiddlyWiki
Hi,

well In german we say "wenn ich mich an einem Problem festgebissen
habe"- I don't know how to say in englisch- maybe something like biten into
a problem??

I don't give up.

Again I looked into it.
And found, that the

.tc-site-title, .tc-titlebar {
font-size: 2.35em;
line-height: 1.2em;
color: #95;
margin: 0px 0px -10px;
margin-top: 0px;
margin-right: 0px;
margin-bottom: 0px;
margin-left: 0px;
font-weight: 300;
}

made the problem with the rating-stars & the icons.
This is the correct one:

.tc-site-title, .tc-titlebar {
font-size: 2.35em;
line-height: 1.2em;
color: #95;
margin: 0px 0px -4px;
margin-top: 0px;
margin-right: 0px;
margin-bottom: -4px;
margin-left: 0px;
font-weight: 300;
}

Maybe you / someone could tell me, how to write that all into a tiddler (or
several tiddlers?)?

Re: [tw] [TWC]Self-hosting

2018-01-16 Thread Robert Edwards
I got busy with other things but finally got back to trying this. I have
updated my twc to core version 290b3. Saving now seems to work on chrome on
macos and windows 7. It does not work on FF on either os -- it wants me to
download the new file. The same occurs on safari on macos and ios (once I
forced allowing editing). Based on the desktop results I had high hopes for
chrome on ios but so far all I've been able to get is the "Reading HTML
file" popup then it appears to hang. It never proceeds farther and I never
get my TW. I wish I knew how to debug the DB api and get some visibility
into what it's doing

Thanks!

[tw] TOC from Headings in Tiddler

2018-01-16 Thread Thomas Elmiger
Hi Tony,
I only have some hints for you, no solution … but I had thought about the
subject before and I am not sure it would be useful:

TiddlyWiki lacks a possibility to make intra-tiddler links. Jumping around in a
single tiddler seems to be impossible as the # is used in other ways. So would
a barely visual TOC be useful?

I have a script here otherwise that extracts titles from HTML to generate a
TOC:  https://thomas-elmiger.ch/bookmarklet/tibofix.html – I guess you want
something like that. I did not try to adapt this to TW though.

Instead I made the details widget to place collapsible sections in a single
tiddler: https://tid.li/tw5/plugins.html#DetailsWidget

That gives your reader an overview and fast access to contents, but not as
detailed a structure as would be possible with headings.

Good luck!
Thomas

2018-01-16 Thread TonyM
Mario,

You have to watch out for that technology domino principle.

I have a three screen setup as the moment "Monitor Laptopscreen Monitor".
I got the second external monitor using a Docking
station https://en.j5create.com/products/jud500?variant=12203464324
I have a HDMI switch or the wormhole to connect to a mac mini

Now I am so used to three screens at my desk I now want a portable monitor
for travelling, with touch screen, which I would keep at my desk and have 4
screens.

Only my budget is stopping me at the moment.

[tw] [Works!] Running TiddlyWiki server on Android

2018-01-16 Thread TheDiveO
For whatever reason, the crazy dev in me wanted to get a TiddlyWiki
server/Node.js running on Android ... and it works! I'm now running my
TwTube development TW5 serving even video media to the tablet's web browser.

The ingredients:

   1. "Pocket Git" Android app ($): a graphical git client; I used this to
   clone my GitHub thediveo/twtube repository to my Android tablet.
   2. "Dory - node.js" Android app: Node.js runtime with npm support. It
   also comes with an integrated git client, but that can only clone.
   3. In d/node.js:
  1. add the cloned repo project from the file storage.
  2. run "npm install -g tiddlywiki" -- this takes quite some time
  without any terminal output, so be patient.
  3. run "npm start" -- wait for the logging messages to show up that
  tell you that the tiddlywiki server is running on 127.0.0.1:8080.
   4. In Chrome/Firefox enter URL "localhost:8080".
   5. Voilà!

I haven't yet found an easy way to stop my tiddlywiki server except to open
a shell from d/node.js, do a "ps -A", then look for the node process, and
kill it.

Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] Viewing tiddler in story vs in other location such as a sidebar tab

2018-01-16 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Tony, BurningTree,

The CSS approach is handy but suffers from the disadvantage that the hidden
content is still rendered, and thus incurs a performance hit.

An alternative is to take advantage of the “storyTiddler” variable. Within a
tiddler in the story river it contains the title of the tiddler, and it is
unset by default in the sidebar.

For example, try this in a tiddler tagged “$:/tags/Sidebar"

<$list filter="[is[tiddler]]" variable="ignored">
I'm in the story river

<$list filter="[!is[tiddler]]" variable="ignored">
I'm in the sidebar

Best wishes

Jeremy.

[tw] TOC from Headings in Tiddler

2018-01-16 Thread Tony Grosinger

I frequently use a single Tiddler to group a bunch of examples on a related
topic. For example, I may have one which groups examples for the sed
command.

Here is an example:

! Installation

You found a computer that doesn't come with it installed??

! Examples

!! Replacing in-place

It seems like some systems don't behave well when you exclude the
backup file location. Best to just include it and remove it afterwards.

`sed -i.bak -e 's/hi/hello/g' *.go`

!! Using Regex Groups

You have to escape the parens that are part of the grouping. This example looks
for
an instance of `somethin` followed by any letter. It upper-cases the final
letter and does not remove the `somethin`.

`sed -i.bak -e 's/\(somethin\)\(.\)/\1\u\2/g' *.go`

! References

* [[Official Manual|https://www.gnu.org/software/sed/manual/sed.html]]

I would love to have a template which generates a table of contents based
on the headings in a Tiddler and displays that TOC at the top of the
tiddler when rendered. Does such a thing exist? Or what would be the
simplest way of creating this if it does not.

Thank you.

[tw] Re: How to use widget code in BJ's visualeditor?

2018-01-16 Thread BJ
unfortunately ckeditor does not preserve whitespace (new lines tabs etc),
this is not a problem with html as they are ingnored in html. With
tiddlytext these do have meaning so, in general it is a bad idea to try and
insert wikitext in text produced in the ckeditor. However transclusions are
possible  as a links.

[tw] Re: How to use widget code in BJ's visualeditor?

2018-01-16 Thread armlet
I have a workaround after reading your post from another post.

What I do is,
I create a "text/vnd.tiddlywiki" tiddler and put any wikitext code,
widgets, macros I like. then put this code where teh WYSIWYG area: Also I
can put multiple edit sections in one Tiddler.
And this is exactly what I wanted.

<$edit-html tiddler="My HelloWorld Tiddler #ckeditor" field="text"/>

I am having another question though: while I am doing this way, is it
possible to make the ckeditor area as an inline editor instead of a classic
one which has the toolbar displayed all the time? How can I do that?

Thanks BJ. I love this plugin!

[tw] Re: Formula: Spreadsheet-like mathematics for TiddlyWiki

2018-01-16 Thread Stephen Wilson
I've looked and looked at the the linegraph example... I give up...

Sets the limits for the svg...

This I get, apart from (x&' '&... the rest is just formula and the area it
needs to be drawn in.

I am wondering why when I just have sin(x) as a function noting plots, is
it a range issue?

And, can I take the slider code from the starburst demo and use it to
change the amplitude/ period of a sine graph (given a suitable starting
equation).

Insights from the shallow end.

 Well, this is embarrassing. It is recommended that you restart
 TiddlyWiki by refreshing your browser
 Error executing boot module
 $:/core/modules/widgets/attributes/macro.js: "Cannot find module named

 '$:/core/modules/widgets/attributes/macro.js', resolved to

 From where I can go no where.

 I am trying to fix the wiki now but just wanted to let you know.

 I installed a couple of your other plugins previously the attribute and
 if.else plugins if they may have something to do with it.

 I am not so sure how to toggle a plugin enabled to disable when editing
 the tiddlywiki file directly, to eliminate your plugin.

 Tony

[tw] Re: Formula: Spreadsheet-like mathematics for TiddlyWiki

2018-01-16 Thread Evan Balster
Hey, Stephen —

Yeah, SVG paths are their own mini-language. As BJ says,
https://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/paths.html#DAttribute ...

The upshot is that the path is defined by a letter followed by numbers
(coordinates) with a space between each item. M marks the start of a path
and other absolute coordinates may follow it.

TEXTJOIN puts a space between each item produced by MAP. x&' '&... Means
each coordinate is presented as the X-part, a space, and then the rest
(Y-part). So the final result will be M and then a series of alternating X
and Y coordinates.

The code here is also less self-explanatory than it should be, due to lack
of both closures and comments in formulas. The "line graph" example is
already a little more clean / readable in the repository thanks to the
addition of closure support. I'll look into making it more understandable
than it is now.

A sidenote... TEXTJOIN is probably one of the ugliest functions inherited
from Excel by formulas. The function of that TRUE is important (deciding
whether to include empty items) but it's not clear at all. Early on I
decided to maintain backward compatibility with popular spreadsheet
applications — but it's a little inconvenient when that means inheriting
their design flaws!

General notice: I'll be starting a new thread when I release version
0.2.1. Another user notified me that it's getting hard to browse this
thread on his device due to its length and a design issue in Groups' mobile
implementation.

Did you try stupid-big z-index settings?

What is hosting the menu? A tiddler?

Is it online somewhere?

I will try super big z index so far only 1 and 2

The menu is activated with a macro in Tiddlers including via view template
and/or sidebar tabs, topleftbar etc...

[tw] Re: How to Reduce font size of tiddler title and the (default white) frame around the tiddlers?

2018-01-16 Thread 'Surya' via TiddlyWiki
Hi

@PMario:

Birthe was right, I'm quite worried about the size of my wikis. Because I
read very often that the size becomes quite fast a problem. Somewhere I
read, the boundary is at about 4MB for mobile devices. *If that is wrong,
please tell me.* I need my wikis for my desktop AND for my Android devices
(which are not the newest ones and not Highend).
Because of that I always think about what I really need and what not and
delete (or not install) everything, I don't really need.

   1. I think, themes will have a lot of things which I don't need.
   2. I think, I'll won't find a perfect theme for me- having exactly that
   what I need.
   3. Because of that, I'd like to write it for my own- only the things I
   want to have.
   4. When BurningTree does it and it works in his wikis- so why not??

@Simon:
When I read your answer after my work, I thought "Hey, I almost never give
up in my life! What is he talking about?? I am so near to my styling goal!"
Now, after several hours searching, trying and so on

I'm quite near to give up for my side (for the styling wishes).

I tried at first with the frame.
Tried several times to find in the elements and to write it in the tiddler.
For a short time it worked (something combined, what you wrote here and
something I found in the elements).
Then I modified it a little bit. The success was gone- forever ;-) I
couldn't reproduce it.
Again I tried to find out, where the things are in the left panel and what
to modify in the right panel.
Success on both sides :-)
But I couldn't find out, where it is exactly in the left panel. E.g. I
found out that, when I click on on the
left and modify it on the right, it gives me the wanted result.
But writing that in a tiddler- no success. Searching for all the subitems
of (all the +)- I found nothing and
always I didn't know WHERE I AM NOW??? There are so many subitems- I always
got completely confused.
I am sorry.

Then I thought, okay, I just tell (you) here, the "top"-"adress" of the
left panel like and write, what I
modified on the right.
And hope, maybe you're lovely and write the full command for my
Stylesheet-Tiddler.
The red lines are from the left panel, the green ones are the related
modifier of the right panel.

It is almost perfect now :-))) But: Now I cannot see anymore the rating
stars from the rating plugin & the icons (inserted when the tiddler is
tagged with a special tag) are a bit unvisible.
And I couldn't find out, how to resolve that- I resetted the modifiers from
which I thought, they are responsible for that to the original value- no
success.
Sorry (for me with my wishes and for you for your help), I give up.

Surya

2018-01-16 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
Ciao BurningTreeC

Just an FYI. I'm gonna create a mock up based on my use case on this to try
to make clearer a few issue on this kind of filtering idea. My thought was
NOT to lumber you with a mission impossible, but rather try and open up the
scope of what I was trying to get at. I may take it to another thread, as
its a broader issue than muuri. First I need to play to get clearer what I
meant, though I do think it has relevance to grid layouts.

I had hoped people other than me would comment. Maybe they will yet.
Meanwhile I'll try develop a few use cases.

Best wishes

Hi Birthe,

It works :-) And saved :-)
I don't know why, but I had to write the frame two times ( and modified tow
my wishes)

.tc-tiddler-frame {
padding-top:5px;
border:2px solid lightgreen;
}

.tc-tiddler-frame {
padding: 5px 5px 1px;
padding-top: 5px;
padding-right: 5px;
padding-bottom: 1px;
padding-left: 5px;
border:2px solid lightgreen;
}

.tc-tiddler-title {
font-size:10px;
}

This is how it works now :-)))

*THANKS !!*

..

*And who knows about the rest??*

(@Birthe:
At the moment I modify my ToDo-Lists with background-colours, so that it is
better visible when popping up, where is what :-)
I am a bit proud of it ;-)

@TiddlyTweeter,

don't worry, I'm not doing what you proposed right now

I'm testing testing testing
I'm doing various tests with more grids to figure out what works best and
what's nice but doesn't add functionality.
Your story-saving comes last 'cause it's an easy thing to do
The grid filtering also comes after all things are implemented in a stable
way

I'm curious how your mock-up will look like

cheers,

It may be possible if you just want a list of heading items not actual

May still be of some value
Just ask if this is enough?

2018-01-16 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Thanks for maintaining this code, BJ!

A few comments.

There seem to be a LOT of undocumented @variables.

The Image and Link modes don't seem to hide/unhide the rule, but maybe I'm
not using it correctly.

How do I make a Link inside a rule? The "|" destroys the table formatting
causing the whole rule to not be run.

There is a reference to "Sections", but I only see how to identify
categories. How/where are sections used?

It would be handy if there was a linkTEXT (or linkText) variable so that a
complete link with name could be captured

Thanks!

[tw] [TW5] CSS to pop over tiddler titles

2018-01-16 Thread TonyM
Folks,

I am working on a TiddlyWiki menuing solution. I have some great menus that
dropdown on hover. Only for some reason they always go under the below
tiddler title if it reaches that far.

I have tried using z-index: 1; or 2 in a number of places with no luck.

Interestingly a menu placed above the topleftbar will popover the tiddler
titles, but a menu placed abovestory will not.
This is also the case for a menu in a tiddler, it fails to popover the
tiddler title below.

I think the problem has something to do with the TiddlyWiki page layout and
CSS

Thanks in advance
Tony

[tw] Re: [TW5] CSS to pop over tiddler titles

2018-01-16 Thread coda coder
Regular TW popups have a z-index of 1000 and certainly pop OVER tiddler
titles. To fully understand z-index, you need to understand "stacking
contexts".

[tw] Formula 0.2: Functional computing & spreadsheet formulas for TiddlyWiki

2018-01-16 Thread Evan Balster
Announcing the second generation of my formula plugin for TiddlyWiki.

See the *Formula wiki* for the latest documentation:
http://evanbalster.com/tiddlywiki/formulas.html

*Report issues and view source GitHub*:
https://github.com/EvanBalster/TiddlyWikiFormula

Formula lets you do computation in TiddlyWiki in the style of popular
spreadsheet apps Excel and Google Sheets, with the addition of TiddlyWiki's
own filter, transclude and variable systems. Tiddlers can behave like
individual rows in a spreadsheet. A large collection of built-in functions
is included, for use with text, numbers, dates, arrays and regular
expressions.

Formula is implemented as a widget, with a special *(=* "mushroom bracket"
*=)* syntax for inclusion in WikiText, and can also be used in widget/HTML
attributes. Formulas included via transclusion, filters and variables are
computed and refreshed like any other part of your wiki.

(= ( sum([tag[Profits]get[value]]) - sum(tag[Expenses]get[value]]) ) * {{Tax
!!rate}} =)

The second generation of formula adds support for local variables,
comments, lambda functions and element-wise operations on arrays (such as
filter results), allowing more advanced computations to be expressed inside
TiddlyWiki. Search the wiki for "demo" to see some of the things I've
built.

The plugin is a work in progress and may have bugs. Please report these on
GitHub or in this thread.

[tw] Re: Formula 0.2: Functional computing & spreadsheet formulas for TiddlyWiki

2018-01-16 Thread Evan Balster
I've started this new thread because some users were complaining that the
length of the previous thread

was making it hard to read and navigate on some devices.

Changelog for version 0.2.1:

0.2.1 — January 16, 2018

   - Implemented /* comments */ in the C/JavaScript style.
   - Implemented closures
    —
   functions can now "capture" local variables declared outside them.
  - Note: Variables are captured from the place a function is declared,
  not where it is used.
   - Added the join function, which is simpler than textjoin.
   - Fixed a major error in value conversion that caused a reversion to
   JavaScript behaviors.
   - Fixed the transclude_index function.

 *3)* The embeded content is bigger than the iframe (div?) it is in

 *4)* After creating the site, the iframe (div?) content fits even
 worse than before.

 Step 3 worked (after I got my password right).

 *5)* I know there is no choice, but entering your password 3 different
 times (or 4 if you count the initial creation and confirmation) is somewhat
 confusing from a new user perspective.

 *6)* You really need to have an initial tiddler in StoryList. Having a
 completely blank TW5 without any open tiddler to start (a splash
 page/edit-this-page-to-make-your-site) it is hard to tell what to do after
 step 3. You said you wanted this for new users, having a blank grey screen
 leaves a bit of a "uh what now" moment.

[tw] Re: Formatierungen in Tiddlywiki

2018-01-16 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Gerald,

I think you need to create a stylesheet, a tiddler tagged with
$:/tags/Stylesheet, containing something like:

.Achtung1 {
 color:white;
 font-size: 1.3em;
 font-weight: bold;
 background-color:red;
 width:200px;
 border: 2px solid red;
}

.Achtung2 {
 background-color:#f2f2f2;
 border: 2px solid red;
 padding:20px;
}

And a macro, a tiddler tagged with $:/tags/Macro, containing something like:

\define Achtung(text)

[img width=30px [Bilder/UBUNTU-Achtung.png]] ^^Achtung^^

$text$

\end

Then you can call your 'warnings' like:

<>

Cheers,

Ton

Where do I add the style? When I do it like this, the top toolbar becomes
invisible, but there is no inline toolbar either.

<$edit-html tiddler="Loads" field="text"/>

 Is there a way to let ckeditor Tiddler still be able to use widget, or
