Thank you for the quick reply, I saw you fielding questions in earlier
posts about tiddlyspot problems, so I'm glad you notices my post : )

The control panel for tiddlyspot, I figured

I was able to get into control panel with the same pw I was using in Step 2
(I've been sopying n pasting from a text file to avoid typing errors-- u
use convulted pw's)

the control panel shows no email set and the creation date/time when I
created the account-- Step 1 on the tiddlywiki5.tiddlyspot site but the
file size (400 kb) looks like TWC not 5.1.19

I shall try again with FF with another id, then maybe try with TWDesktop,
not interested in installing Chrome-- I hope TWDesktop uses Windows High
Contrast Black

or... in a previous post it looked like I could overwrite the TWC with my
local TW5 file?

Google schmoogle. Its not helping so much. Also tiddlywiki is a html page its
self so some css effects the whole page so I can't use the examples as I want
to operate on the tiddler level. Eg with a html div.

I believe this is because currentTiddler is still the same even if you
close it. What you might interpret to be the new currentTiddler isn't - it
is merely that closing a tiddler shrinks the tiddler river so "something"
ends up where you're looking. It still doesn't have the focus.

Personally I have a solution for another issue that incidentally also
solves this; I've modified my "close" and "delete" buttons to also actively
navigate to the tiddler *above* the closed one, instead of visually having
the succeeding one be dragged up into view. This active navigation also
sets the currentTiddler (...at least I assume it does). If you're
interested I could post my code for these modified buttons.

I have decided to go ahead and use the backticks around it and (also to be
careful when that text is empty to not put two consecutive backticks).

I'm changing up the markup to generally use TW for now and potentially move

depending on how the prototype is received.

Thanks,

Hi,

If you want to disable some wikitext rules you can put the

\rules except bold

pragma at the very beginning of the

First, create a tiddler, tagged with "$:/tags/Macro", containing:
\define foldit()
<$reveal state="$:/state/folded/$(currentTiddler)$" type="match" text="show"

   <$button set="$:/state/folded/$(currentTiddler)$" setTo="hide" class=

[tw5] Re: Page media and Tiddlers

2019-08-14 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
A big issue is getting precise practical information on steps to wanted
print outcomes. The issue is that you have several levels of potential
complexity (base HTML/CSS combo; browser interpolation; printer
parameters). The browser side is much better than it was on
cross-compliance, but its not perfect. AND the number of tech people
needing precision in printing is actually far lower than struggling
end-users, like, for instance, academics who often do. So explicit info
that is practical is in fairly short supply.

IMO you have to get one step sorted at a time. BTW, personally I use
PRINTER/PDF to always evaluate. I do not trust the screen on this, apart
from PDF.

Best wishes

Re: [tw5] Code that no longer works following upgrade to version 5.1.20

2019-08-14 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Mervin

I’m not sure without seeing more context but I think the problem may be this
fix from v5.1.18:

https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/

Previously, `$(variable)$` substitutions were performed regardless of how the
macro was defined (even if it was actually defined with the set widget). Now
such substitutions are only performed for macros defined with the \def pragma.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Re: [tw5] Re: Competition for v5.1.21 artwork

2019-08-14 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Thanks to everyone for the enthusiasm on this thread! It’s fun, and much better
that the artwork should come from the community than me. (Actually the last two
banners were made by friends of mine as I was running out of ideas!).

We haven’t discussed how the winner will be picked. A popularity contest seems
the obvious way, even though I don’t like the way that it has the slightly
unfortunate side effect of drawing attention to “losers” as well as “winners”.

Anyhow, I’ve set up a Google Form with the entries so far:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfki3NyRcLt5owJ00w9S7FdCYZ8rsSIuPhCr31pfpb7ijeVNw/viewform

It’s open for votes now, but I’ve set it up so that you can edit your response
(you’ll need to save the link you’re given after submission).

The form is set up for anonymous usage, and doesn’t gather email addresses.
That means that there’s nothing stopping abuses like voting multiple times.

I suggest that we accept submissions for another 10 days or so. I’m happy to
accept updates to existing submissions but please remember that I generally
read this group via email, and so will not see any edits to your posts unless
you draw my attention to them.

Best wishes

Jeremy

[tw5] Re: tiddlywiki5.tiddlyspot site stuck on step 2

2019-08-14 Thread Birthe C
Hi Mat,

I love your work, but it seems to me, that it is often misunderstood. You
explain it very well, I would think on http://tiddlywiki5.tiddlyspot.com
In fact you do that on the very first lines.

@A Gloom

Using it you get a copy of Mat's wiki on your own newly created tiddlyspot.
after creating your new wiki, do not follow the link, but continue on Mat's
site until finished and saved.
You are still left to deal with your own wiki, to drag and drop or import
tiddlers into the wiki, you created this way.

I have not had any success uploading any local TW using anything but Chrome
or Chromium.

[tw5] Re: tiddlywiki5.tiddlyspot site stuck on step 2

2019-08-14 Thread Mat
OK, going into controlpanel was merely a test to ensure that you are using
the correct password.

Yes, the idea is that the tiddlywiki5.tiddlyspot.com wiki is uploaded to
overwrite the TWC that by default is there when the spot is created.

When you upload the TW5 onto it for the first time, you should use chrome.
Thereafter it should be no problem to save stuff using FF when you're using
it. You could perhaps also try it from another computer, who knows.

If you don't succeed in uploading, you can send the tiddlyspot url to me
and the password, perhaps a temporary one or if you change it afterwards,
and I can see if I can upload it. I don't have any magic tools or anything,
I will do exactly what you (probably) are attempting.

Re: [tw5] Code that no longer works following upgrade to version 5.1.20

2019-08-14 Thread Michael Wiktowy
Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering what had broken with one of my
projects but didn't have the time to troubleshoot. This note saved me a
great deal of head-scratching.

In this case, Mervin was using it in the context of a macro call. I can see
how this can be worked around using <$macrocall name=<>/> in
place of the <<>> syntax.

However, in my case, I was using it in a transclusion template like
{{$(variable)$||some_custom_tag_pill_tiddler}}. In looking at the
instructions for the full TranscludeWidget, I can do <$transclude
tiddler=<> field="title"/> but is there a way to specify the
template? I was able to workaround things by making a macro like you
indicated containing the above {{||}} transclusion template but am I
missing something in that the full transcludeWidget is not able to use a
template tiddler? I did try adding a "template=" section but it didn't work.

/Mike

The tiddler referenced by the transclude widget is the one that is used as a
template. If you want to set a different currentTiddler for it to display then
you can use the <$tiddler> widget wrapped around the transclude widget. (The
{{tiddler|template]} syntax is a shortcut for a tiddler widget targeting the
tiddler wrapped around a transclude widget targeting the template).

Best wishes

Re: [tw5] Announcing the release of TiddlyWiki v5.1.20

2019-08-14 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Tony

> Do you think this is a bug?

It’s a subtle difference in the handling of missing fields between two slightly
different formulations.

Using the advanced search “filter” tab on tw.com ,
[{HelloThere!!missing}] returns 1 result (an empty string), while
[[HelloThere]get[missing]] returns zero results.

The history is that the transclusion syntax came first, at some point we
realised that not being able to distinguish between a missing field and a blank
field was a problem, and so we “fixed” it by adding the new get operator (we
couldn’t change the behaviour of the transclusion syntax without breaking
backwards compatibility).

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Ciao Mark

Confirm "Parrot Now" works well. It is a VERY useful advanced feature of
Polly. (For instance my test included using Polly "Parrot Now" as an easy
way to maintain a partial mirror of Polly herself that is archived to the
cloud along with some wiki via clone to an auto-upload dir).

I need do longer term, more complex, testing to fully confirm.

There are minor issues that I think are just cosmetic. I'll document them
on GitHub.

I hope my attempt to bring into one, the 2 generations of you and the 1.5
of me in polly-01Na-TT hasn't damaged anything!

My additions, apart from in main script, includes tools related to
understanding working with settings under the three PowerShell Core o/s

*.\dev\do-pathcheck.ps1* tool to check any path to dirs or files, allows
relative addressing on check and wildcards;

*.\dev\do-grabwiki.ps1* experimental tool to capture directory listings for
wikis and bulk convert into *.ini* data, allows relative addressing on
check and wildcards

I doubt we'd put these in a release but may use the code in
*.\lib\do-settings.ps1* later

They are useful in testing at least.

I'll comment on GitHub on details.

[tw5] How do I create a task with a check mark

2019-08-14 Thread Jed Carty
This example may help: https://ooktech.com/TiddlyWiki/SimpleTaskList

If you are talking about the example on tiddlywiki.com the answer is to make a
tiddler with the tag task

Re: [tw5] Re: Competition for v5.1.21 artwork

2019-08-14 Thread Thomas Elmiger
Thank you, Pit!

The idea with the icon was to have one more element besides font and colour.
The icon could be changed to something indicating a special feature of a new
release.

Cheers,
Thomas

[tw5] Re: Announcing the release of TiddlyWiki v5.1.20

2019-08-14 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Following Jeremy's comments, since "enlist" will collapse strings, you can
do this fairly cleanly:

{{{ [enlist{!!tiddler-mode}else{wiki-mode}] }}}

(Sorry, I shortened tiddler $:/config/wiki-mode for visibility)

Or at least it worked in my tests.

Thanks!

Forget that. You probably don't want the output as a link.
