This is a Good informational point. Sanitizer is good for environments
where bathrooms are shared and many people around. Or where you need a
"portable" solution.

But plain soap and water thoroughly used can be very effective. The virus
is of the type with a weak exterior. Saponification works well on
destroying such viruses.

Right. Also other factors in China played a role since vast numbers of men
smoke there and the virus is particularly viscous for breathing.

FYI, 70%+ of the recorded deaths of known infected in Italy are male.
Reflecting possibly combination of advanced aged and the poorer General
immunity in men.

The pattern is a bit different elsewhere, not quite so marked. These are
guesses from what I read.

Testing looks vital. The fact Italy rapidly switched from cohort tracing to
testing mostly only on presentation of symptoms may prove a big mistake.
Sure there are finite tests available, but there is also very limited
verification testing. Verification testing is statistically based sampling
that IS likely managable. This done not by medical teams but
epidemiologists using people trained only to collect samples.

The main issue now is we have little idea of latency at large.

South Korea, Taiwan & China took a different approach. Their differences
also reflect more than medical matters but social factors too that include
rights & surveillance.
South Korea is particularly interesting because it was prepared and
utilised the existing smart-phone, CCTV & other tech well.

Right now the US situation with free Testing and utter ambiguity on

T. T.

Well, what are the countries doing about the homeless? Every country have
homeless people in smaller or bigger numbers. Living homeless is absolutely
not healthy, they will be at high risc. The lock down closes a lot of the
initiatives that are for them. Sleeping places, places to go to get some
warmth, contact and a hot meal are closing due to lock down.
Some people care and work hard to find solutions, some people do not care.
But really homeless people getting the infection should scare anyone as it
will lead to high rise in infection for everyone. Covid19 does not ask for
your address.

[tw5] Book references

2020-03-21 Thread Jon
Hi,

In a datatiddler called 'Footnotes', I have a series of book references e.g.

myref1: The Greek Myths, Robert Graves

To make reference to the book in another tiddler I use Mohammed's Refnotes

<>

Then in a tiddler titled The Greek Myths, Robert Graves

{{{[!is[system]regexp:text[{{Footnotes##myref1}}]]}}}

shows the names of those tiddlers, as links, which contain a reference to
the book
(I don't know if this is the most elegant way of doing this)

I was wondering, is it possible to extract the page number as well, to
somehow create a list of the page numbers for myref1?

Regards

Universal healthcare? I'm maybe missing your point?

In Italy it is the case that many people are dying because allocation by
doctors of care has been forced partial.
They ARE making choices on guesstimates on survival rate.

In USA the "insurance factor" is a serious compounding issue.

[tw5] Offer of multi-user TiddlyWiki 5 hosting for educators

2020-03-21 Thread Jeremy Ruston
There's a lot more I hope to discuss about our response as a community to the
Coronavirus, but today I wanted to start with one simple thing that I can do
right now that I hope might make a small impact.

The offer is simple: to give educators who already use TiddlyWiki 5 in a
classroom setting the infrastructure they need to be able to use it with remote
students.

It's based on Xememex, a cloud-based multi-user implementation of TiddlyWiki
that I initially built to host the Anna Freud Manuals project (now at
https://manuals.annafreud.org/) when it had to migrate from TiddlySpace.
Xememex uses an extended form of the bag/recipe model from TiddlySpace to give
flexible ways to combine content into wikis. It is now fairly mature with
several hundred users and several hundred wikis, with intertwingled content
between them.

Elise Springer of Wesleyan University, Connecticut kindly agreed to trial the
system with her Ethics class. We exported the existing course material from
TiddlySpot and setup two new spaces:
https://xememex.com/ethicsatwes is the space used by the 34 students to review
the course material and attach their comments. They have their own login
credentials and once logged in can leave comments using the TW comment plugin
https://xememex.com/ethicsatwes-teacher is the teacher site that only Elise can
edit. It contains the course material, which is also automatically transcluded
into the student space
Hopefully Elise will be able to jump in and explain more about how the space
will be used during teaching, but I believe it's for a combination of
synchronous presentations via Zoom and asynchronous coursework by the students
working alone.

If we can keep to a small number of variations of this setup then I see no
reason why we can't support hundreds of educators. I may have to appeal for
help with funding this initiative if it's a wild success but I don't intend to
worry about that for the moment.

I'm posting now to gauge interest, so please do reply here (or via email), and
give an outline of your needs. The next step is that I will post a spreadsheet
with the information I'll require to set things up. In the meantime, please
feel free to ask any questions.

Best wishes

Jeremy

In Denmark
The places to stay and get some warmth, socializing and getting a hot meal
is closing. But the volunteers stays and prepare food and distribute.
As the places to sleep are closing down, some gym halls are opening. (Not
really a good idea with many people together).

Best project I think is only for the part of the homeless selling the
homeless paper. A printed paper about the homeless situation, all aspects.
Homeless people can ask to be a seller of the paper. They have to sign some
agreement of behaviour, not being under the influence while selling and
that kind of things. They will get some clothes to wear two times a year,
that will make them recognisable and given a sign to wear for legitimation.
With the legitimation they can buy some papers and resell at a profit. Lots
of people pay for the paper, but ask not to receive any. The purpose being
for the homeless to sell the paper to somebody else.
Begging is not allowed in Denmark.
Now some hostels all over Denmark has made an agreement, that the homeless
paper sellers can be housed there for free for now. (Free for the homeless
that is, the homeless paper is paying, the hostels lowering their prices.

A lot of other things going on ass well. For now the most important thing
is to give them at chance to get off the streets and have a place to stay.

How so? Sure, it it's in the same browser that you do all your regular

Kudos, Jeremy!

This is a good time to try an initiative like this. I have a number of
associates who are feeling quite over-whelmed by the sudden need to
"home-school". I will start collecting their impressions about how their
youngsters are interacting with their now remote teachers. Perhaps that
will yield some useCases that TiddlyWiki is particularly well suited to
address.

Cheers, Hans

This is a variation of the articles problem (A/An/The in English) discussed

The question is, do you have a known set of title prefixes (e.g. Software:

[tw5] Bilingual pages swapper - new simple plugin

2020-03-21 Thread oleghbond

Plugin is:

   - titled BOA - Bilingual pages swapper,
   - placed locally at $:/plugins/boa/langswap
   ,
   - placed globally at https://protw.github.io/templ,
   - dependent on other plugins *Shiraz* and *Utility*.

The plugin sets an additional button at the top right of a tiddler intended
for switching between identical pages in *Ukrainian* and *English*. The
name of the translated matching tiddler is written in the tiddler field swap
.

Definitely, the plugin can be easily rewritten for any other pair of
languages!

For example, we have two matching tiddlers titled Стаття and Article,
respectively in Ukrainian and English. In order to ensure correct
transition from tiddler Стаття in its field swap the value *Article* must
be specified, and in tiddler Article in the same field swap – the value
*Стаття*, respectively. Also, each of the two tiddlers must be tagged with
their language, Ukr or Eng, respectively.

Additionally, the plugin creates two tag tiddlers Ukr
 and Eng
, each of which stores an ordered
list of all the tiddlers tagged with the *Ukr* or *Eng*, respectively.
Moreover, the order of the tiddlers in these lists can be rearranged using
*drag-and-drop* by pre-clicking on the tag icon *Ukr* or *Eng*. And that's
not all - there are a couple of navigation buttons previous | next in the
bottom of each tiddler from the list. The functionality specified here is
provided with a simple-navigation macros, which is part of the plugin
$:/plugins/kookma/utility
.

Also, the plugin creates two plane content tables Зміст and Content based
on the Ukr and Eng
 tags, respectively. These two
tables of content are placed in the sidebar under Content-Зміст tab.

Right. In Northern Italy here in Gorizia most beggars (allowed) are
refugees from Africa. We have many. My friendly beggar from Nigeria left
the supermarket entrance some days ago saying "I can't risk it." He already
has state provision. Italy is good in that way. Very few people are truly
homeless.

The reasonable answer to this potential problem is for the state to set the
rules for what any private "society critical" institution must provide, be
it hospitals, banks, schools or whatever. The problem is not privatization,
the problem is when these actors don't fulfill the task they are supposed
to do. And this goes for state run institutions as well where the problems
are of a different kind such as wasting tax money, ineffectiveness,
nepotism etc.

I think people may be clining onto extensions within Firefox no longer
available since around v57, so tiddlydesktop does not have these extensions,
however at least some of the former extensions have being re released in
firefox.

I sympathise with ff and its extensions but I no longer resort to pre v 57.
This is my current usage.

Everyday I use ff timimi, tiddlydesktop, tiddlyserver and bobexe according to
the particular need. Typically I use chrome to access single function wikis at
a network address including SharePoint hosted.

I think that still uses single-file wikis, in which case you're still
better off using Quine 2. Good to know about that option though, for other

2020-03-21 Thread TonyM
Folks

As with the prefix sort issue its a simple matter to make a sort field in every
tiddler and use that instead.

However other than prefixes in natural language including more in a title is
building a compound key. This always results in complications like this. I
would avoid prefixes in tiddler except as a namespace like $:/

rregards
Tony populate it with a list and actions inside a button.

2020-03-21 Thread TonyM
Jeremy,

Great initiative, In future I would like to access such a platform,
initially to set up training in tiddlywiki to build my local community,
then later to support other coaching, but for now I stand back, so it can
be used where the current circumstances demand. If a solution like this is
not open sourced, I imagine a cost effective online solution like this
would be in high demand.

Great work

Folks,

I back my last post up with an example you can test on TiddlyWiki.com

;Exceptions before
<$list filter="[!is[system]prefix[The ]] [!is[system]prefix[A ]]
[!is[system]prefix[An ]] +[sort[]]">

<$list filter="[!is[system]prefix[The ]]">

<$list filter="[!is[system]prefix[A ]]">
<$action-setfield $field="sort-key" $value={{{
[removeprefix[A ]] }}} />

<$list filter="[!is[system]prefix[An ]]">
<$action-setfield $field="sort-key" $value={{{
[removeprefix[An ]] }}} />

Set ALL sort Keys

;Exceptions after
<$list filter="[!is[system]prefix[The ]] [!is[system]prefix[A ]]
[!is[system]prefix[An ]] +[sort[sort-key]]">

Notes

   - The above is a first draft, and it updates every tiddler not just
   those with unwanted prefixes
   - The code could be a list that feeds the prefixes into it and be much
   more compact.
   - There may be a way to sort based on title except for those with a
   sort-key, but not sure yet

I just downloaded TiddlyDesktop and gave it a shot. It's interesting. Could
help as a temporary workaround, though I can't see myself using this

BTW, I'm noticing that some stuff doesn't work in TiddlyDesktop. Like clicking

[tw5] Re: Tiddlywiki and Coronavirus

2020-03-21 Thread Birthe C
@Mat

The state sets the rules now. That is so detailed and bureaucratic, that
more and more healthcare money are going towards that. The private will
have to do exactly what the public is doing now. But going private the
investors, the boards, the leaders will also have nice and high salaries.

Why did a lot of private hospitals go into bankruptcy in the US?

Going private will not solve the problem of educating enough doctors and
nurses. Young people need to want that eduction to go for it.

What do you think the people buying into private healthcare insurance will
be able to get from that money, covid18 related?

[tw5] Re: cut a String

2020-03-21 Thread TonyM
Wrap the content within the button with
<$list filter="[!is[system]!has[sort-key]]">

so that on subsequent clicks only tiddlers without a sort-key will be
updated/touched.

I believe there would also be a way to generate a list of titles without
stop words and their matching tiddler title in a data tiddler (or JSON to
handle other characters in the title) and use this as the input to an
ordered list. This may leave the option to list the item twice, once
without the stop words, once with it.

Re: [tw5] Offer of multi-user TiddlyWiki 5 hosting for educators

2020-03-21 Thread Marc Ferguson
I am so excited about this. I am a retired teacher developing a consortium of
schools and institutions that are really wanting to involving communities in
education bay involving everyone in the development of the experience not just
coming and being entertained.

Currently we have a space simulator that participants can board and tour our
solar system for up to 24 hours. There are new tasks for the participants every
15 minutes.

All of those activities need to documented and accessed over and over again
during the simulation but the fun is extended by students and interested adults
creating all of these activities for the simulations.

So far all of these activities are written and delivered in all sorts of ways.
I think a multi user tiddlywiki would be exactly the documentation system and
also provide a way for the participants to record their performance scores and
journal their mission.

I would love to be part of developing this idea although I am not a great
programmer.

Let me know if you need more interim me.

TT.
I do not think there are many in Denmark either. But the official statistic
might not be totally correct.
Definition being, that just because you do not have a home, you are not
homeless (anticipating that people loosing their homes are couch surfing
with family and friends) could hide quite a number.
Not many will have the option of couch surfing with the isolation going on.
The need to have an address to get financial help and be able to document
how long you have stayed in the country makes it difficult. Some gets full
amount, more getting much less, and yet others absolutely nothing. If you
leave your local area, you can loose the benefit.

[tw5] Re: Bilingual pages swapper - new simple plugin

2020-03-21 Thread A Gloom
Nice, I see this being useful in the US were bilingual is becoming more
commonplace.

I like how it uses your work combined with Mohammad's -- combining the
skills of both of you.

[tw5] Re: Book references

2020-03-21 Thread A Gloom
Jon

shows the names of those tiddlers, as links, which contain a reference to
the book
(I don't know if this is the most elegant way of doing this)
I was wondering, is it possible to extract the page number as well, to
somehow create a list of the page numbers for myref1?

The page numbers for each footnote entry as entered in the macro?

a wild idea, so warning VOLTAILE & untested..

<$vars ftrpage="Hi">

<>

then instead of {{{ }}}
go with a list widget

<$list filter="[!is[system]regexp:text{{
Footnotes##myref1}}"><$link><$view field="title"/><$list filter=for
reading vars of each tiddler of the first list/>

is there any operators to read variables in a tiddler? I know there is a
global (wiki wide) variable display.
https://tiddlywiki.com/#getvariable%20Operator

don't know how it will work but I'm sure someone will yell "Danger!" : D

Julio,
What I learned is how to add such action to EditorToolbar with that
details, for examples I did not know about conditions field.

Hi Olegh,
 Really great stuff. Love them!

One question: Do you prepare both tiddlers in Uk/En or this is done by code?

I see here nested curly brackets. To my best knowledge, TW confuses with
