Re: web_app in jakarta-tomcat-connectors ?
Of all the ones who voted +1 is there someone who's going to do something about it? Pier

To move the code in jakarata-tomcat-connectors? I guess most of the people who voted +1 are going to work on jakarta-tomcat-connectors or are alredy doing so. We already agreed that the webapp configuration stuff is going to be integrated into mod_jk, and I'm sure we'll take a look at the warp protocol - either as an additional protocol for mod_jk, or to merge it with ajp14. I mean that someone (Henri) asked to vote on moving the code of webapp from the jakarta-tomcat-4.0 to the jakarta-tomcat-connectors CVS repository. A bunch of people (including you) voted +1 on that proposal (not me), so, if the guys who voted +1 want to do that, please do so (three days passed, vote is up, with a bunch of +1 - more than three - one 0 - mine - and no -1). Otherwise, you guys do whatever you want (as always)... Bah... Sometimes I just _love_ my f***in' limbo where I seclude myself and do whatever I want... Pier

Isn't it how it works ? Yeah, however that doesn't force anyone to give up his work, or should we start debating on 3.x being a dead end??? :) :) :) This way it'll be fair - and you'll get your code used because and if it'll be better than mod_jk, not because it is the default for 4.0. Ok, I'm going to shut up now otherwise we'll end up in the same old flamewar. What-EVER. Pier

Yeah, however that doesn't force anyone to give up his work, or should we start debating on 3.x being a dead end??? :) :) :) I don't think there is anything to debate about that. All we know is that we have a release plan for a 3.3 release, a plan for a 4.0 release using a different code base - and commiters will decide what code base will be used for 5.0 ( it may be a completely different one - who knows ? ). Anyone is free to try new ideas - and to ignore existing code and reinvent the weels. And anyone is free to choose the codebase he thing has the best chances for long-term and work on it. But tomcat-dev must decide what is used in a certain release - and making mod_webapp the default for 4.0 is not fair. When you feel it's ready we can of course vote on it - and if indeed it's better I would be happy to use it in 3.x also. I believe mod_jk has more chances - so that's where I'll put my free development time ( if I find any :-). web_app in jakarta-tomcat-connectors ?
What about importing the mod_webapp code in jakarta-tomcat-connectors ? There is allready jk stuff (native, java), we could also have here a 'wa' subdir jakarta-tomcat-connectors/wa/src/native/apache-1.3/ jakarta-tomcat-connectors/wa/src/native/apache-2.0/ jakarta-tomcat-connectors/wa/src/native/include/ jakarta-tomcat-connectors/wa/src/java/ The idea is to provide to new users a common area when he's looking for web-server to servlet-engine connectors. - Henri Gomez ___[_] EMAIL : [EMAIL PROTECTED](. .) [-1] Keep it where it is because (please explain) +1 i'm of the opinion that the core parts of connectors should be servlet container agnostic and separate from any container. also, i think if webapp and warp (or the core parts of it) were moved outside of tomcat 4, a lot of people would be happier when tomcat 5 hits the streets and a connector is needed :)
