Try setting JAVA_HOME instead of java_home. I am not sure whether it
is case sensitive in windows. It is not a good idea to install Tomcat

At the bottom of EVERY EMAIL you get from this list, you'll find this:

It is even in english for your benefit. :-)

Try it.

If it does not work, read the response. It will tell you WHY it did not
work.

Follow those instructions.

I think I couldn't see it when I had MS Outlook Express. They have since
upgraded me to regular Outlook so I can't test for it now. From the

I'm in OE and I can see it.

I think that they are getting swamped and hotmail cuts out before the confim
unsubscription can get through.

How to Unsubscribe (was RE: Unsubscribe does not work)

2001-06-25 Thread Jann VanOver

This was originally posted by Thomas Vollmer -- thank you Thomas

it is a little tricky to unsubscribe from tomcat-user
when you have changed your e-mail address and need to
use this

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

to unsubscribe. Some mail clients like MS-Outlook have
trouble with the equal-sign = in the recipients address.
Here's the e-mail header you sent. If you look closely at
the To: line, you will see what has happened:

 To: 'tomcat-user-unsubscribe-lmayer=' [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Your e-mail client has split the recipients address at the =
into the display name (tomcat-user-unsubscribe-lmayer=) and
the e-mail address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).

Somehow you need to make sure that your e-mail client
really sends a message to

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

For MS-Outlook, the following has worked for me:
1. type the correct unsubscribe address into the To: field.
2. click outside of the To: field and watch Outlook convert
the address you typed into display name and e-mail address.
3. double click on the display name in the To: field, note
the wrong e-mail address in there and adjust the e-mail address
to the correct one.
4. done.

unsubscribe email address. i've also tried sending mail to the list owner,
but heard nothing in response.

An additional problem is people not knowing what address they are
subscribed as - it must be exact! When doing the translation mentioned in
the welcome message, people need to work with the address referenced in the
Delivered-To header field, not what they think their email address is!

This page [http://jakarta.apache.org/site/mail2.html] doesn't say anything about how to unsubscribe an alternate email alias (unless I missing something). It was built with the assumption that:

1 - Your browser is configured to send email
2 - Your browser is configured to send email as the user under which you subscribed.

Neither were true in my case.

(And sorry about the HTML email. Believe me I've tried to get it fixed, but it is an issue with our Exchange server, and no one seems to be able to figure out how to turn it off.)

What you need to do is check one of the messages sent to you by the list

2000-11-06 Thread Toby Piper

Don't reply to me about this, I'm just telling you how to get off the list. If
you follow the instructions they work every time. I've done it several times.

You get these instructions when you join the list.

--- Administrative commands for the tomcat-user list ---

I can handle administrative requests automatically. Please
do not send them to the list address! Instead, send
your message to the correct command address:

To subscribe to the list, send a message to:
   mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

To remove your address from the list, send a message to:
   mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Send mail to the following for info and FAQ for this list:
   mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
   mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Similar addresses exist for the digest list:
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

To get messages 123 through 145 (a maximum of 100 per request), mail:
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

To get an index with subject and author for messages 123-456 , mail:
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

They are always returned as sets of 100, max 2000 per request,
so you'll actually get 100-499.

To receive all messages with the same subject as message 12345,
send an empty message to:
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The messages do not really need to be empty, but I will ignore
their content. Only the ADDRESS you send to is important.

You can start a subscription for an alternate address,
for example "[EMAIL PROTECTED]", just add a hyphen and your
address (with '=' instead of '@') after the command word:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

To stop subscription for this address, mail:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

In both cases, I'll send a confirmation message to that address. When
you receive it, simply reply to it to complete your subscription.

If despite following these instructions, you do not get the
desired results, please contact my owner at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Please be patient, my owner is a
lot slower than I am ;-)
