and I did __NOT__ find a configure script, so what am I missing it doesn't

2004-12-03 Thread Wick, Daniel
Where are you reading about a configure script? Maybe you're seeing the
compiling information. As in:

./configure
./make
./make install

Also, I would highly recommend using the proxy pass, proxy pass reverse
method of connecting to Tomcat. It works well.

2004-12-03 Thread David Boyer
So you're looking for the source?

http://www.apache.org/dist/jakarta/tomcat-connectors/jk/source/jk-1.2.6/

The source does not include the configure script. You need to run
buildconf.sh (which the source DOES include), and that will generate
your configure script.

Sorry! LOL! NO WAY! Absolutely not.
I am going to do it with the method you suggested, I just need to get my
ducks in a row.
Do I need to use BOTH

ProxyPass
ProxyPassReverse?
Also how do I know what to put for my path and URL?

OK, I found that link. I downloaded the:
jakarta-tomcat-4.1.31.tar.gz
jakarta-tomcat-4.1.31-src.tar.gz
jakarta-tomcat-connectors-4.1.31-src.tar.gz
and I did __NOT__ find a configure script, so what am I missing it doesn't
provide me with the mod_jk.so does it? I never found it
anyway. They didn't provide me with a configure script either like the
documentation has been implying everywhere I read.

2004-12-03 Thread Warron French
David, in the very same directory that I found the buildconf.sh script, I also
found a configure script!

Which do you suggest I use. I think me doing the ProxyPass stuff is 50/50
compared to this tarball you found for me...

THANK YOU by the way...

I am going to see what this configure script can do for me.

It got me a little closer. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get it
INTO the apache httpd.conf file.

Thanks David!

So you're looking for the source?

http://www.apache.org/dist/jakarta/tomcat-connectors/jk/source/jk-1.2.6/

The source does not include the configure script. You need to run
buildconf.sh (which the source DOES include), and that will generate
your configure script.

RE: Where do I get mod_jk

2004-12-03 Thread David Boyer
The existing configure script is one-size-fits-most. You might want to
run buiLkconf.sh to get a config specific you your environment.

I don't really have a suggestion. The page you referenced refers to
building mod_jk and optionally linking it statically to Apache, which
I've not done. I would tend to use mod_jk as a dynamic module.

Michael,

If you want binary builds, you'll have to upgrade to
apache 2.0.42. They can be found at:

http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-connectors/jk/release/v1.2.0/bin/linux/i386/

The rpms can be found at:

http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-connectors/jk/release/v1.2.0/rpms/

You'll need the apache rpm installed to use the binary
connector rpm.

If you feel comfortable building from source, you can
get the source from:

http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-connectors/jk/release/v1.2.0/src/

/mde/

just my two cents . . . .

If you insist on using those old versions (not recommended) then you'll
have to build from source, unless you can find them out on the internet
somewhere. The connector source is in the archives.
http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-4.0/archives/v4.1.10/src/

If you upgrade to the latest the binaries are at
http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-connectors/jk/release/v1.2.0/bin/linux/i386/

 as mentioned in the docs
http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-tomcat-connectors/jk/release/v1.2.0/doc/jk/aphowto.html#Obtaining%20mod_jk
