For instance, on Mac OS X, inserting padding is affecting rendering.
If something has to fixed, it should not be done by adding space
characters but by fixing Qt rendering on Windows XP.

Hmm, WindowsXP style tends to narrow side margins, though not sure why.

I think inserting padding can affect rendering on another platform.

Well, the word "cropped" was inappropriate. I should say "cramped", or
"visually unpleasant".

I've uploaded 4 illustrations, using long text in English to demonstrate how
it looks like in translations.

http://picasaweb.google.com/polushin/ThgButtons#

btn-1 - Original buttons, normally looking.
btn-2 - Buttons with long text, looking rather bad.
btn-3 - with long text and highlighting, looking worse.
btn-4 - with long text + padding 2 spaces, OK again (preferred).

Strictly speaking, this is not a bug. Just a matter of translation quality.

It isn't possible yet.
We'll need to override standard strings by gettext-ed strings manually,
because we don't use Qt's built-in translation system.

Does it happen at all places? or on specific widget?
Qt should construct the layout dynamically.

This happens on pt_br too. I investigated this issue a bit, but couldn't find
a simple fix (and it seems I also forgot to send a bug report...).

The translation function now accepts a context specifier; see how "All" and
"None" are handled by your translation software (or Launchpad). I'll send a
patch shortly to add contexts for "Commit" and "Clean".
