Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SB Touch and Internet Radio
OK, sorted with opening the unit without any damage. Nothing really serviceable in there as I had suspected but wanted to follow the voltage trail from the power socket. While doing so, the unit woke up and is working once again. Unfortunately the intermittent buzzing sound is back, solved only by unplugging the Touch for a while. The noise is reminiscent of "White Noise" more than anything else and completely drowns the audio output. -Eric ews2k's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69845 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111647 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
[SlimDevices: Touch] Touch can't find network after power outage
Hi! I've searched the forum, but this issue does not seem to have been covered. I've never had my Touch connected via Ethernet cable. It's always been wifi. We sometimes have power outages here. When the power is restored, the Touch goes into "can't find wired network, make sure blah blah blah". The same if I try to reset to factory settings and setup from scratch. I have the latest LMS installed on my MacBook Pro, and our router is TPLink EBA-848. I do not have an Ethernet cable. I have sometimes managed (by what seems to be magic) after several times unplugging the Touch, doing factory resets, unplugging the router, restarting my computer and restarting the LMS, and various combinations thereof, to get back to a working screen (my screensaver is the clock). I hardly ever play music on the Touch nowadays and can't remember why I thought I needed a standalone music player when I bought it. But it is a handy (if expensive) digital clock. Can anyone suggest a short and simple way to get back to the clock or a working screen after power outages instead of scrabbling around for a hit or miss (mostly miss) solution? Thank you. se74's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=70267 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112325 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Opening Touch Casing on dead Touch
Thank you guys, problem (sort of) solved. The PSU is fine, I drove the SB Classic with it and all was good. Voltage measured at 4.91 which is within limits. With the helpful advice from John Swenson's article from the link posted by bpa, I managed to open the unit quite easily. Most difficult part was find drivers that matched the Touch's screws (T10 Torque driver for the foot, small Posidrive for the casing screws) and looked in dreaded fear at the inside. While still pondering the best way forward, I had one of my rear brainwaves which was to plug the PSU in and try measure the voltage whilst on load. Easier said than done, I had not yet disconnected the PC Flexicables nor removed the PCB board and while still looking for a suitable voltage measuring point I noticed the unit had come back to life again. I gently shook the unit, probed to find a possible dry joint (yes, as if that is even possible!) and it remained on. Put it all back together and listening to Boss Radio now as I type this :) So although I cannot report on what the problem is/was, as long as it is working I am quite happy! I just love this unit in spite of its quirks: (See from reply #37 onwards) https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?111647-SB-Touch-and-Internet-Radio/page4 -Eric ews2k's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69845 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112323 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

The touch might draw a bit more power than the SB3. If the optical port is still glowing, I'd try a replacement PSU first. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Squeeze Box Touch won't boot
Seems I am the latest member of this exclusive Club. Touch worked 100% last night, dead as a dodo this morning. I am trying to disassemble the unit but wary of doing more damage than good when removing the casing. Has anyone tried disassembly of the unit? -F_D ews2k's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69845 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109412 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] need help with internal power regulators
RolGrol, I might have a similar problem although I was using the 5v PSU as supplied with the unit. I need to open my SB Touch as well due to a possible power issue as the unit is now totally dead. Are there any issues to be wary of when prising the casing open after removing the two screws holding it together? Your advice will be moist helpful. -Eric ews2k's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69845 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111359 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SB Touch and Internet Radio
The Touch still displayed the buzzing problem but not as frequently as before. I was hopinjg the problem would solve itself and just go away, but this did not happen. What did happen is that the Touch worked 100% last night but this morning the display is completely dead, the unit does not power on although the red optical light does burn so it is receiving power. The transformer unit is fine, it works perfectly on my SB Classic. I removed the stand (2 screws) as well as 2 tiny screws apparently holding the casing together. Before I actually prise the unit apart, is there anything I should be aware of such as ribbon cables or whatever that could become damaged by opening the casing? -Eric ews2k's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69845 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111647 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
[SlimDevices: Touch] Opening Touch Casing on dead Touch
My Touch died last night, the unit does not power on although I can see the red optical light burning. The power adaptor is fine, it works 100% on the Classic. I removed the two silver screens holding the Touch stand and there are two tiny little black screws holding the casing together which I have also removed. Is there anything I must be careful of before trying to prise the casing open to investigate what is happening? -Eric ews2k's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69845 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112323 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Where are the server settings?

Thanks for trying to help. No need to uninstall LMS. Just use your browser to load the default look to LMS. e.g. if your server is on 192.168.1.1 then go to "http:// 192.168.1.1:9000/Default" in your browser. This will then show LMS's default web page. Bottom-right twill be "Settings" - clicking on that will take you to the "Server settings". When that loads there will be some tabs along the top. Select the "Advanced" tab. Within that tab will be a drop-down menu, select "Material Skin" from there. This will show Material's settings - one of these being the password. *Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json 2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open console tab in developer tools 4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS will be logged here. cpd73's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66686 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=112322 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Where are the server settings?
oldius wrote: > In the top right pull down menu on LMS, I have settings, player settings > and information. Where are the server settings now? I know this is in the Touch forum, but it sounds like you are referring to Material skin on LMS? If so, it appears you have set a password in Material's server-side preferences. When one is set Material will hide certain options (server settings, alarms, etc.). To enable them, you then need to set the same password in Material's 'Settings' dialog on the current device (phone, laptop, etc). If you look in Material's settings dialog and you can see a 'Settings password' entry - then you have enabled this feature. If this was enabled by mistake, use "http:// SERVER:9000/Default" to access the default web UI, then go to Settings/Advanced/Material Skin and clear the password there. *Material debug:* 1.
