[Touch-packages] [Bug 1500242] Re: Bluetooth devices (Jabra BT250, Audi A3 car kit) can not be connected with BQ Aquaris 4.5
Reporting on Bluetooth bug 1500242 I have send such a report on December, 6th 2015 where I have tested the rc-proposed with my Jabra device. At that time the syslog-file was missing which I have added later. I found out later, that syslog is a rolling log, therefore maybe not all test logs are part of that syslog. I have taken the time today to retest all that with the following devices. I attach the log files: Audi A3 car kit (2012 model) Seat Alhambra car kit (2012 model) Jabra BT250 head set Logitech bluetooth mouse LogiLink ID0078 (Compatible to BT1.1/2.0/3.0+EDR) Before testing I deleted all existing pairings with the devices and started from scratch. If your internal mic is either completely silent (no signal), or you can possibly pick a very small sound, with much background noise, even though you have set gain to maximum, there is something you could try. Install the pavucontrol application, start it and go to the "Input Devices" tab. Unlock the channels (there is a keylock icon), then mute the right channel while keeping the left channel at the volume you want. If the internal mic is now working correctly, you have an inverted internal mic, so that your right channel cancels out the left one. (If you're not running PulseAudio, you can try doing the same through AlsaMixer instead (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/Alsamixer ), try changing "Capture" level or "Internal Mic" or "Internal Mic Boost" using the Q,E,Z,C keys.) If so, please file a separate bug against the alsa-driver for your issue, make sure hardware info gets attached to it (either alsa-info as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/AlsaInfo or the standard ones that follows when you do "ubuntu-bug alsa-driver" ), then write a comment in this bug, with your machine name and a pointer to the other bug. Where appropriate I will mark other reports as duplicates of this one. Consider a pre-Precise system with the following /etc/resolv.conf: nameserver 192.168.0.1 nameserver 8.8.8.8 The first address is the address of a nameserver on the LAN that can resolve both private and public domain names. The second address is the address of a nameserver on the Internet that can resolve only public names. This setup works fine because the GNU resolver always tries the first- listed address first. Now the administrator upgrades to Precise and instead of writing the above to resolv.conf, NetworkManager writes server=192.168.0.1 server=8.8.8.8 to /var/run/nm-dns-dnsmasq.conf and "nameserver 127.0.0.1" to resolv.conf. Resolution of private domain names is now broken because dnsmasq treats the two upstream nameservers as equals and uses the faster one, which could be 8.8.8.8. ** Tags removed: consolekit libglib2 ssh ** Tags added: amd64 i386 saucy trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to consolekit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313042 Title: console-kit-daemon Glib-CRITICAL warning Status in consolekit package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The day I upgraded from 13.10 to 14.04 some of my ssh sessions into the new system (server side is Ubuntu 14.04) started hanging. The symptom is: I run some command with a lot of output (say a few hundreds of lines) in an ssh session, and the second the command completes, and the shell displays a new prompt, the shell stops responding to keyboard input. At the exact time of the hang (to the second) I always see these 3 warnings in syslog: Apr 21 18:15:25 xx console-kit-daemon[3357]: GLib-CRITICAL: Source ID 469 was not found when attempting to remove it Apr 21 18:15:25 xx console-kit-daemon[3357]: GLib-CRITICAL: Source ID 86 was not found when attempting to remove it Apr 21 18:15:25 xx console-kit-daemon[3357]: GLib-CRITICAL: Source ID 86 was not found when attempting to remove it The Source ID numbers vary, but the warnings always come in triplets at the time of the hang. I was able to reproduce this about 10 times today. Every time the session hangs, these warnings appear in the log and vice versa: every time they appear in the log, I have a hanged remote session. A quote from an upstream (bugzilla.gnome.org) comment: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=721369 GLib recently started throwing a warning when g_source_remove() is passed garbage (as per warning). Your applications have probably been broken for a while, and there's no telling what could actually have happened in the past when g_source_remove() would happily close any random source because the programmer got the wrong argument to g_source_remove(). So based on this I'm opening a bug against consolekit for bad calls to g_source_remove() which seem to be related to the ssh hang. [Touch-packages] [Bug 798414] Re: update-initramfs should produce a more helpful error when there isn't enough free space
I think this is a pretty serious issue because if you select Full Disk Encryption when install Ubuntu a very small (~250e6 byte) partition is created. Each kernel update creates another (~30e6 byte) initrd.img file and you quickly run out of space (only enough space for about 4 kernel upgrades). Typically during the update-initramfs of a "apt-get upgrade". [Touch-packages] [Bug 1301015] Re: Networking does not restart
The command in comment #8 *should* do this in a single exec resource: sudo ifdown --exclude=lo -a && sudo ifup --exclude=lo -a However, I have found this does not actually work either for any significant config change (e.g. IP address change, gateway change). In fact, the command above frequently causes networking to stop working in such cases. The only way I've found that works is to reboot the server; NetworkManager is not an option when doing text-based network config. Other distros using upstart do not seem to have this problem. It's a shame that Canonical hasn't seen fit to address this, and its cost them my employer's (albeit meager) support budget. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ifupdown in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301015 Title: Networking does not restart Status in ifupdown package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In Ubuntu Server 14.04 it appears it is not possible to restart networking. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1522190] Re: Permission denied (publickey) whereas the public key has been inserted into ~/.ssh/authorized_keys: "usePAM no" issue
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1523770] Re: bad
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -> About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1509081] Re: nano segfaults as root after upgrade to 15.10
Hello reedy, or anyone else affected, Accepted nano into wily-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nano/2.4.2-1ubuntu0.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. This bug was fixed in the package lightdm - 1.10.6-0ubuntu1 --- lightdm (1.10.6-0ubuntu1) trusty; urgency=medium * New upstream release: - Handle trailing whitespace on boolean values in configuration. (LP: #1507033) - Use libaudit to generate audit events. - Fix apparmor profiles for running Chromium in guest sessions. (LP: #1504049) - Add LC_PAPER, LC_NAME, LC_ADDRESS, LC_TELEPHONE, LC_MEASUREMENT and LC_IDENTIFICATION variables to the list of inherited locale variables. (LP: #1511259) - Add a backup-logs option that can be used to disable existing logging files having a .old suffix added to them. - Check the version of the X server we are running so we correctly pass -listen tcp when required. However, some clients may put a number of addresses in this message and potentially they are not all routable. Connect with a client that puts a number of addresses in the Request packet Expected result: LightDM prefers the address the Request came from over the other addresses. I think this is a regression introduced by https://bazaar.launchpad.net /~phablet-team/webbrowser-app/trunk/revision/1280. However, some clients may put a number of addresses in this message and potentially they are not all routable. Connect with a client that puts a number of addresses in the Request packet Expected result: LightDM prefers the address the Request came from over the other addresses. Observed result: LightDM always picks the first address. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1505241] Re: Phone does not suspend
I looked through the code in the mx4 kernel now a bit more and the reason for the hold wakelock is that there is simply data flowing. What triggers the data flow or what data is actually flowing is not clear yet but I don't see any HCI frames receiving on the bluetooth stack side so far when this happens. Next steps are to find a proper fix: 1. Find out what is actually sending data and why 2. Look into the difference between mx4 and krillin on the kernel side and see if that helps us 3. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1480877] Re: Access points' "PropertiesChanged" dbus signals freeze UI on mobile devices
So the latest changes in Lorn's signals6 patch can be summarized as: 1) remove QNetworkManagerEngine::requestUpdate (), which is a public method which can trigger a WiFi scan request to NM. This method doesn't appear to be called internally by the bearer plugin, so if we think extra WiFi scans are the culprit, there must have been an change to one of our Qt applications which is calling this method. Also as this method wasn't added in the original patch, it's presence can't really be considered a regression. Has anyone attempted to determine if we *are* scanning more often? This could be done manually by running wpa_cli ( as root ), and watching for the frequency of scan events output. It can also be accomplished by looking at the wpa_suppl and/or NM log messages in syslog. And finally, you could also just monitor DBus looking for ScanDone signals from NM. NOTE - I'm pretty sure this patch won't compile unless this method is also removed from qnetworkmanagerengine.h too, but I haven't tried to build it myself... 2) check that wiredDevice pointer is valid before using it to call a method This is the crasher fix when USS/Qt from the PPA gets installed on a desktop. Looks fine to me. 3) remove most of the logic from the engine's parseConnection() method. This method takes a connection path, and creates a private configuration object, and then based upon the underlying device type, may modify the private configuration instance in a device-specific way before returning it to the caller. The device-specific logic in some cases could have side-effects, such as modifying the global accessPointConfigurations hash table and/or the configuredAccessPoint map. Again, this chnage looks reasonable to remove, however I don't see how it could have any impact on power. This code only runs during initialization where all existing system connections are loaded, and whenever a new system connection is added ( ie. a user connects to a new AP or APN ). I'm not sure whether we want to include this the last change if we want to keep the delta as small as possible? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to qtbase-opensource-src in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1480877 Title: Access points' "PropertiesChanged" dbus signals freeze UI on mobile devices Status in Canonical System Image: Fix Committed Status in Unity 8: New Status in dbus-cpp package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in qtbase-opensource-src package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Status in dbus-cpp package in Ubuntu RTM: Fix Released Status in location-service package in Ubuntu RTM: Fix Released Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu RTM: Incomplete Bug description: Krillin, rc-proposed, r83 DESCRIPTION: I've been trying to track down the cause of the occasional UI freezes on my Krillin device, and I noticed that whenever the UI freezes for 2-4 seconds, I get a burst of "PropertiesChanged" signals in dbus-monitor Here's a log of what's shown in dbus-monitor: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/11992322/ I'd guess the problem is in the code that actually catches the signals and acts accordingly. The ofono account has always_dispatch set to true, however when autoconnecting on system startup where no network is available, the account will not connect and wait for network to come up. While autoconnecting on MC startup, it gets all the way to "mcd_account_connection_proceed_with_reason" function where it fails the "mcd_connectivity_monitor_is_online" check in mcd-account- connection.c:103 for the account which then leads to the account being stuck in this state: Presences: Automatic: available (2) "" Current: offline (1) "" Requested: available (2) "" Changing: yes and from the Debug interface: "mcd", 5, "mcd_account_connection_proceed_with_reason: ofono/ofono/account0 wants to connect, but we're offline; queuing it up" ...until there's a network connection. Once there is a network, everything works just fine. However if I understand the purpose of always_dispatch=true correctly, it should ignore the network state and just connect. So here's a simple patch which makes it work as expected. Now I'm not sure if this patch is correct as I don't know the MC code that well, but it does fix the issue of always_dispatch=true-account not being connected when there's no network. I've posted this patch to upstream [1] but the general activity in the project has declined and so it might take quite some time before it's reviewed and put into a release. Therefore I was advised to file a bug report here for a chance for this patch to be included as a distro patch. This would also help fix this issue in ubuntu-phone, where it is currently being workarounded[2]. The patch itself is located at [1] so I'm not going to reupload it here. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1461873] Re: [messaging] Ability to forward SMS without copy 'n past approach
Rae Shambrook, I'm sorry but your design is no longer available by the link you sent, could you upload it again and update the description? Thanks in advance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to messaging-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1461873 Title: [messaging] Ability to forward SMS without copy 'n past approach Status in Ubuntu UX: Fix Committed Status in messaging-app package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: It would be nice if the SMS app swipe left context had the ability to forward the SMS to other receivers. The existing approah where one can swipe left and copy the content and then paste into a new SMS seems less intuitive. ** This feature is in the new designs but has yet to be implemented. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1XMHRg7T3KxMizExeRTmXJGar0WOUyBQ4A8lEMnQvcqA/edit?pli=1#slide=id.g18adf9eae_5102 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-ux/+bug/1461873/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

When they want to upgrade/install, they are asked for their U1 information as in no account was set up in the phone. If they add the account through Accounts in Settings, the phone apparently stores the information but when the user wants to use the store it disappears again.
