Status in unity-greeter package in Ubuntu:

example, "Ubuntu 14.04 Community Wallapers" which is defined by
/usr/share/backgrounds/contest/trusty.xml).
  2. Wait about 1/2 hr and notice that the background automatically changes.
  3. Lock the screen and notice the changed background appears on the user's
Light DM lock scren.
  4. Log back in.
  5. Now, log-out of the user's account to show the Light DM Login screen.

  6. Notice that the changed background does *not* appear on the user's
  Light DM login scren. The Ligh DM screen is blank. (This is the
  issue; the same background that was shown on the user's home screen
  and the user's Lock screen should appear here).

  7. Now, login to the same user's account.
  8. Notice there is screen corruption / tearing for a few seconds until the
user's correct dynamic background is displayed and the screen is repainted.
(This may be a side-effect of the issue in step 6).

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  When scrolling on a page with repeated gestures with the finger on the
  screen, it often changes the direction of the scrolling and scrolls
  super fast. So if I am far down on a page and scrolls a few times
  with the finger, it suddenly start to scroll upwards super fast to
  the top.

  It seems like it happens if it lags while scrolling and it misses part
  of the gesture.

  Experienced on an M10 with OTA-10.1

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1588123] Re: binutils - Bugzilla ID 20159

2016-06-19 Thread Paul Braman
Bug was fixed in 2.26 and trunk of project (see Bugzilla report linked).
Hoping this gets into Ubuntu 16.04 soon so I can stop ignoring the error
and continue developing tests that rely on a fixed version.

Bug description:
  Moved to Ubuntu 16.04 from Ubuntu 14.04 and was doing some Test Driven
  Development where we began to override the "time" system call from
  glibc. Failed on Ubuntu 16.04 and I filed a report with the binutils
  Bugzilla.

  https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=20159

  (Turns out it was not dynamic linking that was the problem but GNU ld
  itself at link-time.)

  They have since developed a patch and I want to get this into the
  binutils 1.26 line that is maintained for 16.04 so we can continue to
  properly develop software on this distribution.

  Thanks!

  #!/bin/sh

Status in x264 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  On U14.04:
  x264 cannot open anything, tried with a RAW AVI file and an X264 MP4 file,
the error message always:

  Command:

  avs [error]: failed to load avisynth
  raw [error]: raw input requires a resolution.
  x264 [error]: could not open input file `1.mp4' via any method!

  Same with an RAW AVI file:

  Command:
   x264 --qp 0 --bitrate 3000  /tmp/tmp2j4v4j.avi -o  tmp_h264.mp4
  avs [error]: failed to load avisynth
  raw [error]: raw input requires a resolution.
  x264 [error]: could not open input file `/tmp/tmp2j4v4j.avi' via any method!

  It worked on U13.10.
  Differences:

  x264 -h @13.10:
  x264 core:123 r2189 35cf912
  Syntax: x264 [options] -o outfile infile

  Infile can be raw (in which case resolution is required),
or YUV4MPEG (*.y4m),
or Avisynth if compiled with support (no).
or libav* formats if compiled with lavf support (yes) or ffms support (yes).
  Outfile type is selected by filename:
   .264 -> Raw bytestream
   .mkv -> Matroska
   .flv -> Flash Video
   .mp4 -> MP4 if compiled with GPAC support (yes)
  Output bit depth: 8 (configured at compile time)

  x264 -h @14.04:

  Infile can be raw (in which case resolution is required),

  It try to use Avisynth, which is unavailable at U14.04. It used

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1594167] [NEW] MX4 & BQ M10 camera app slow to open after OTA-11 update

2016-06-19 Thread Dave H
Public bug reported:

Hi I am using the MX4 with OTA-11 software update. After I completed the
latest update (OTA-11) there is a longer delay of up to 8s before the
camera image appears after tapping the icon. The application itself
opens quickly and shows the camera icon, but the actual lens image takes
another 6~8s tp appear. The delay with earlier versions was not so long,
can you please investigate this problem.

Note, the camera delay timing is also slow (8s) on my BQ M10 tablet with
OTA-11, so this looks like a common problem across multiple devices.

Thanks for your support and hard work.

Regards

Dave H

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1580601] Re: __nih_abort_msg symbol cannot be read any more

Title:
  __nih_abort_msg symbol cannot be read any more

Status in gcc-5 package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in libnih package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  libnih has a global symbol __nih_abort_msg that contains the message
  of the last failed nih_assert() (similar to glibc's own __abort_msg
  and glib's __glib_assert_msg). Apport uses these to produce a more
  meaningful crash report than just "/bin/foo crashed with SIGABRT", as
  in these case the thing you actually want to see is the assertion
  message.

  This stopped working in yakkety/amd64. apport's
  report.test_add_gdb_info_abort_libnih() now fails:

  ERROR: test_add_gdb_info_abort_libnih (__main__.T)
  add_gdb_info() with libnih assertion

  Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./test_report.py", line 886, in test_add_gdb_info_abort_libnih

File "/usr/lib/python3.5/collections/__init__.py", line 985, in __getitem__
  raise KeyError(key)
  KeyError: 'AssertionMessage'

  This can be reproduced with the attached script which compiles a
  trivial nih_assert() C program, runs it, and runs gdb on the produced
  core dump. Up until xenial it looks like:

  $ ./nih-assert.sh
  (null)::2: Assertion failed in main: 1 < 0
  Aborted (core dumped)
  [New LWP 9838]
  [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
  Using host libthread_db library "/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libthread_db.so.1".
  Core was generated by `./nih-assert'.
  Program terminated with signal SIGABRT, Aborted.

../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/raise.c:54
  54../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/raise.c: No such file or directory.
  $1 = 0x25400f0 ":2: Assertion failed in main: 1 < 0"

  But in yakkety/amd64 it now looks like

  $ ./nih-assert.sh
  (null)::2: Assertion failed in main: 1 < 0
  Aborted (core dumped)
  [New LWP 10489]
  [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]

  This can be reproduced easily in a schroot, you need to install "libnih-dev
pkg-config gdb".

  After upgrading the package, user should still be able to connect to networks

  [Regression Potential]
  Potential of causing regression is relatively small because there is not big
changes made during beta2 -> stable process.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1588162] Re: Time in header is UTC instead oft UTC+2

2016-06-19 Thread Ulrike Soltau
I think I was a little bit too enthusiastic, after another reboot I am
back to the setting Africa/Accra and UTC +2. But since the time in the
top bar now matches the local time I think I can manage. But clearly I
can not change the timezone in the system setting. I wonder what happens
when I leave my timezone. Maybe you could help me what to check else.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1588162] Re: Time in header is UTC instead oft UTC+2

2016-06-19 Thread Ulrike Soltau
ok, I got it now by overwriting the file localtime with Europe/Berlin.
Now it works. But even after that I still had Africa/Accra in the system
settings but with the UTC +2 (clearly after rebooting the system). But
it let me change it to Berlin, which was not possible before.. So I
guess somehow the file localtime was in the beginning damaged, otherwise
the setting ETC/UTC with UTC +2 could not have been set in the
beginning.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1594127] Re: No update

2016-06-19 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

Are you reporting a bug against xorg, the update/upgrade process or
something else?

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thanks!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1589401] Re: cannot view wifi networks after re-enabling wifi

2016-06-19 Thread Christian Dysthe
I also see the same problem coming out of suspend. Manually restarting
network-manager with 'sudo systemctl restart network-manager.service' is
a workaround but not a solution. I go in and out of suspend a lot with
my laptop so this one is very annoying.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1325503] Re: gdb reports 'corrupt stack' on armhf without symbols

2016-06-19 Thread Nonny Moose
I am running Ubuntu Mate Xenial and gdb always reports the following bt,
symbols or not:
```
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
0x76fd9822 in ?? () from /lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3
(gdb) bt
#0  0x76fd9822 in ?? () from /lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3
#1  0x76fd983a in ?? () from /lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3
Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)
Is this related?
```

Bug description:

  Original Report
  ---
  On armhf crash files fail to retrace and gdb reports 'corrupt stack' errors

  For example bug 1323241
  Thread 1 (Thread 0xb0b3b450 (LWP 2243)):
  #0  0x0030 in ?? ()
  No symbol table info available.
  #1  0xa9990cbe in ?? () from
/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/unity8/qml/Unity/Launcher/libUnityLauncher-qml.so
  No symbol table info available.
  Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)

  I also tried directly on the device to run an unstripped and stripped
  build of cat and gdb fails to unwind the stack when the binary is
  stripped. The result of this test is:

  == unstripped ==
  Reading symbols from ./cat...done.
  (gdb) run
  Starting program: /home/phablet/tmp/coreutils-8.21/src/cat
  ^C
  Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.

  #2  safe_read (fd=0, buf=buf@entry=0x19000, count=count@entry=65536) at
lib/safe-read.c:66
  #3  0x9ace in simple_cat (bufsize=65536, buf=0x19000 "") at src/cat.c:168
  #4  main (argc=1, argv=) at src/cat.c:730
  (gdb) quit

  == stripped ==
  Reading symbols from ./cat...(no debugging symbols found)...done.
  (gdb) run
  Starting program: /home/phablet/tmp/coreutils-8.21/src/cat
  ^C
  Program received signal SIGINT, Interrupt.
  0xb6f6e914 in read () from /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libc.so.6
  (gdb) bt
  #0  0xb6f6e914 in read () from /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libc.so.6
  #1  0xb648 in ?? ()
  Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)

  I'd expect the same number of frames and addresses when the binary is
  stripped or not with '??' instead of names when it is stripped.

  Testing:
  Nexus 4.
  OS: Ubuntu 15.04 (r418).
  WIFI Disabled.
  3G Enabled.
  Open Sensor Status and drive (for see how the speed changes).
  Bug: There are new GPS positions each ~800ms, but they will update only the
Speed field. Any other field (like altitude, latitude...) will be updated each
11 seconds.
  I tested same behavior with OpenStreetMap and uNav apps.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1593561] Re: help of germany

2016-06-19 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Please also change the bug title to be more descriptive of you problem.

Thanks!

Title:
  Light DM does not show the current automatic wallpaper changer
  background on Login Screen

Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  1. Change background and select an automatically changing background (for
example, "Ubuntu 14.04 Community Wallapers" which is defined by
/usr/share/backgrounds/contest/trusty.xml).

(This may be a side-effect of the issue in step 6).

  picks up my password with the QUERTY layout. I go through the full
  install process and after the 1st reboot the OS asks for the drive
  encryption password which is stored with the wrong keyboard layout
  (QUERTY in my case). Without a hack to figure out what are the keys
  equivalent, I am not able to use the fresh OS install and I have to go
  through the install again; when I use QUERTY/AZERTY keys that are not
  similar for the drive encryption password. That bug being said, a few
  times I did not use that security function or I purposely use a weak
  password to be sure to able to log into the fresh Ubuntu install. I
  have done the test on the 14.04 release and I have experienced the
  same bug on the latest Xunbuntu release as well.

  Thank you,
  Bob

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1594087] [NEW] Wouldn't find any wifi network after suspend/resume, restart fixed the issue

2016-06-19 Thread teo1978
Public bug reported:

I suspended (note: suspended, not hibernated) and resumed. I do this all
the time and usually the computer immediately reconnects to my wifi
router.

This time it didn't. So I clicked on the network icon and there were no
wifi networks in the list.

I turned wifi off and on via Fn+F3, which usually forces a re-scan of
available wifi networks. However, it would still list no network. I
repeated several times with no luck.

I checked my phone which was connected to the same wifi network and
working.

So I restarted the computer and this time it immediately connected, and
also now the other available networks are listed.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1591246] Re: Wrong icon in notification of missed alarms and events

2016-06-19 Thread Johannes Kempf
Regarding #3: I'm aware of bug #1362962. Here I'm talking about the
small icon on the right side of the notification. This is using an old
image. The latest release OTA-11 introduced an anonymous icon without a
number (see screenshot on the right). This should be used by calendar-
notifications.

2016-06-19 Thread Johannes Kempf
Regarding #4: Notifications of missed alarms (from clock app) seems to
has been introduced since OTA-11. You can see it in the screenshot in
the middle. It is comming from "Wecker" which is the German wording for
"Alarm". It was created after 10 min (the default timeout time) of not
responding to an alarm.

  to WiFi with network-manager.

  WiFi works after loggin it, but it should be working before also, if
  not, what's the point in having an icon there :)

  I get the following message: Failed to add/activate connection. - (1)
Insufficient privileges. - see image.
  This worked fine in 14.04.

  I have noticed this problem in both my desktop (Broadcom WiFi) and

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1594073] [NEW] 16.04 - initrd fails to decrypt and mount /usr directory when it's on it's own cryptsetup partition

2016-06-19 Thread Alessandro Selli
Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, upgraded from a 15.10 that did not show the
issue.

Initramd fails at setting up the encrypted /usr partition.
At the (initramfs) prompt the following command is accepted and succeeds at
decrypting the partition:

cryptsetup --key-file /root/etc/keys/sda5_usr open --type luks /dev/sda5
sda5_usr

After entering the above command and pressing + to exit the initramfs
shell, system boot resumes and completes successfully.
/etc (in the initramd) does not have the crypttab file, which is present in the
decrypted and mounted root filesystem in /root/etc.

The problem manifests itself regardless that in /etc/initramfs-
tools/initramfs.conf MODULES=most or MODULES=dep is set before
generating the initrd.

  Volume notification keeps popping up constantly(the notifyosd bubble

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 yesterday, I did a clean install while
  preserving the home directory which is mounted in a separate
  partition. Even during the installation I had constant volume
  notification bubble appearing on the top-right corner of my screen, it
  would come and go about twice every minute. I just thought it was due
  to installing hardware drivers or something but the problem persisted
  even when I booted into the freshly installed system. I did some
  searching and two users reported the exact problem. And one more
  suggested this happens because constant disconnect and reconnect of
  the sound card which makes sense as the sound settings flashes briefly
  during every popup. Someone on IRC suggested to kill pulseaudio and
  thus restart it, that does not fix the issue. I also tried the Live
  environment thinking it might be due to some old config files in home
  partition (which was preserved during upgrade), but this problem
  happens in the live environment as well, which makes sense because it
  was present during installation as well.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1380702] Re: No keyboards shortcuts in QT apps

2016-06-19 Thread Robert Orzanna
Dear Erico_pt,

How is it possible that Lubuntu 16.04 is not affected but Ubuntu 16.04
is?

Thankfully,

~Robert

Bug description:
  In some apps built using QT4 & 5, menu shortcuts are greyed out and
  inoperant. Only alt and FKeys-based shortcuts work. Others, notably
  ctrl+c for copying, do not.

  This is quite serious ; mail me for more details.
