[Touch-packages] [Bug 1821415] Re: pkexec fails in a non-graphical environment

2019-04-01 Thread Andrea Azzarone
I proposed a fix upstream [1]. A workaround can be added to apport to
workaroud this while polkit is fixed upstream: we could for example
spawn pkttyagent manually (a similar approach is used by systemd).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1592177] Re: Focus drops from search input in GtkFileChooserDialog after first character, which stops searching (broken behaviour)

Title:
Focus drops from search input in GtkFileChooserDialog after first
character, which stops searching (broken behaviour)

Status in GTK+:
  Expired
Status in Ubuntu GNOME:
  New
Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I have noticed that after upgrading to GNOME 3.20 on Ubuntu GNOME
16.04 that the built-in search functionality is almost impossible to
use in the GTK file chooser (though it is the same one that allows you
to save files as well as choose them).

So if one types something into the search, after they have typed the
first letter it will immediately select the top search result meaning
one has to re-select the search box, this happens for every letter so
searching for a long string becomes very annoying. If one carries on
typing once it has selected the top result and unselected the search
box it will start searching in the other search which only looks at
  results.

  Upstream bug:
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/1572

  Steps:
  1. Open Gedit
  2. Choose Open -> Other Documents... to open a GtkFileChooserDialog
  3. Press on the search button next to Open
  4. Type what you are searching for

  Expected behaviour:
Focus remains in the search input until I finish typing then results come up

  What happens instead:
Searching stops after I enter the first characters because focus is lost from
the search input

  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04
  Package: libgtk-3-0 3.22.30-1ubuntu1

GNOME has dropped its .png icons and replaced them with 128px .svg's.
If we did the same, we could drop our binary patch since an .svg isn't
  a binary file.

GNOME also includes a 16px symbolic .svg but I don't think those are
  used right now.

So although getting the 128px .svg from Canonical Design isn't
technically a blocker, I think it would be nice to get it for
consistency (and simplifying our patches a bit).

Title:
  Update gnome-online-accounts to 3.31.90

Status in gnome-online-accounts package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
We should update gnome-online-accounts to 3.31.90 (Debian experimental
  has the update).

@sill2100 sorry about that. I tested 0.96.24.32.5 both in vanilla bionic
and in xubuntu bionic. I performed the following verification steps as
per description:

Xubuntu:
"
[Test Case]
1. Start xubuntu (Bionic)
2. Open software-properties-gtk
3. Go to "Updates" tab
4. Make sure no Livepatch UI is displayed

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1768797] Re: LivePatch in Software & Updates shows that LP is not enabled when the U1 account has expired in g-o-a

2018-07-12 Thread Andrea Azzarone
** Description changed:

  * Impact
When the U1 account credential expire it's not possible to disable livepatch

  * Test case
  - install/enable livepatch (from the first login wizard or
software-properties)
- - invalidate your U1 credentials (unsure if there is a manual way to do that?)
+ - invalidate your U1 credentials:
+ * open "Password and Keys"
+ * Search for an entry containing "ubuntusso"
+ * Right click and open "Properties"
+ * Show the password entry
+ * Modify the 'macaroon' field (e.g. add a 1 at the beginning of the string
so you can easily remote it later)
  - open software-properties

-> the livepatch status should be marked as enable but the control
active so it's possible to disable it

  * Regression potential

Check that the software-properties checkbox reflect the correct status
when the account are valid and invalid
-

I enabled LivePatch via gnome-initial-setup and added my U1 account to
  g-o-a.

My U1 account gets marked as expired quite often. When it's expired the
LP entry in Software & Updates is not ticked to show that LP is running.
When my u1 account is re-authenticated then everything shows correctly.

This could make it seem that LivePatch does not run if your account
expires, which is not the case.

I enabled LivePatch via gnome-initial-setup and added my U1 account to
  g-o-a.

My U1 account gets marked as expired quite often. When it's expired
the LP entry in Software & Updates is not ticked to show that LP is
running. When my u1 account is re-authenticated then everything shows
  correctly.

This could make it seem that LivePatch does not run if your account
expires, which is not the case.

mtp replied by email:

That is a strange situation. But since there’s no reason to stop you
from turning Livepatch off, the checkbox should still be enabled. The
only thing we can’t do, that we normally would, is tell you what account
you’re signed in as. Instead we can just reassure you that “Livepatch is
active.”

Bug description:
  [Impact]
As part of allowing Ubuntu users to enable canonical-livepatch from
software-properties GUI
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#Update_settings) we need to backport
python3-macaroonbakery 0.0.6-1 [universe] from bionic. This will requires quite
few changes:

  - backport httmock 1.2.6-1 [universe] from bionic - no httmock in xenial
  - backport pymacaroons 0.12.0-1 [universe] from bionic - xenial has
0.9.2-0ubuntu1
  - SRU some changes in google-apputils-python -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-apputils-python/+bug/1735162
  - add python3-protobuf to python-protobuf 2.6.1-1.3 - Right now the python3
package is not built.

  [Test case]
  - for protobuf: $ python3 -c "import google.protobuf"
  - for protobuf: $ python2 -c "import google.protobuf"
  - for python3-macaroonbakery: make sure all the tests pass
  - make sure "snapcraft login" works properly

  [Regression Potential]
  - httmock, none has it's not in xenial
  - protobuf, reduced considering that the code has been backported from master
(small changes to make it compatabile py3 compatabile)
  - pymacaroons, none has 0.12 is backward compatible with 0.9.2
  - py-macaroon-bakery, none has it's not in xenial.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1769316] Re: Notification of Live patch sign-in is inconsistent depending on how Software & Updates is started

Notification of Live patch sign-in is inconsistent depending on how

Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This issue has I think been partly covered in other bug reports that
are currently marked incomplete but none describe my exact issue with
  Livepatch signing in..

I'm creating this report in the hope that it does provide enough
information with regards to what I am seeing here and have been doing
so since before the release of Ubuntu 18.04.

Last night I enabled Livepatch by signing into the appropriate tab of
Software & Updates. As a result of briefly discussing this elsewhere I
decided to check whether I was still logged in or not.

  1) I started synaptic and pulled up "Software & Updates" from the
Settings menu. The Updates tab shows the Livepatch box as being
checked but a message of "To use Livepatch you need to sign in" and a
Sign-in button is displayed. If I attempt to sign in I see a "Choose
an account" dialog. Clicking on "Sign in.." displays an empty panel
with "Devices" in the top left corner. This is obviously the Settings
application with no text being displayed.

  2) I then started "Software & Updates" as a stand alone application.
The Updates tab shows that I am signed in, my email address is shown
along with a "Sign out" button and the message "Use Canonical
Livepatch to increase security between restarts is displayed
  immediately above.

Restarting "Software & Updates" alternately through synaptic and as a
stand alone application shows either an unsuccessful login or a
successful log-in as described in points 1) and 2).

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1764474] Re: software-properties-gtk should not store the goa account-id used for livepatch in the keyring.

2018-04-18 Thread Andrea Azzarone
Hey, the motivation is that there is no point in storing the account id
in the keyring, it makes the code more complicated and it makes hard to
react the external changes to the settings. software-properties used
libsecrets because the first version used it to store the authentication
token and not the account id.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
As part of allowing Ubuntu users to enable canonical-livepatch from
software-properties GUI
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#Update_settings) we need to backport
python3-macaroonbakery 0.0.6-1 [universe] from bionic. This will requires quite
few changes:

  - backport httmock 1.2.6-1 [universe] from bionic - no httmock in xenial
  - backport pymacaroons 0.12.0-1 [universe] from bionic - xenial has
0.9.2-0ubuntu1
  - SRU some changes in google-apputils-python -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-apputils-python/+bug/1735162
  - add python3-protobuf to python-protobuf 2.6.1-1.3 - Right now the python3
package is not built.

Bug description:
As of version 0.96.24.24, software-properties-common declares
  dependencies on gir1.2-goa-1.0, gir1.2-snapd-1, and gir1.2-secret-1.
This in turn pulls in a variety of transitive dependencies, including
glib-networking, which was noticed because it is now part of the cloud
image used for autopkgtests and breaks tests on some packages.

We include software-properties-common in the server seed in order for
the add-apt-repository command to work. add-apt-repository definitely
doesn't seem to be making use of any of these other gir modules. I
don't think this dependency is added at the right level; I think the
dependency needs to be moved up to whichever package is actually
making use of the canonical-livepatch information - which appears to
  be software-properties-gtk.

  [Impact]
As part of allowing Ubuntu users to enable canonical-livepatch from
software-properties GUI
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoftwareUpdates#Update_settings) we need to backport
python3-macaroonbakery 0.0.6-1 [universe] from bionic. This will requires quite
few changes:

  - backport httmock 1.2.6-1 [universe] from bionic - no httmock in xenial
  - backport pymacaroons 0.12.0-1 [universe] from bionic - xenial has
0.9.2-0ubuntu1
  - SRU some changes in google-apputils-python -
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-apputils-python/+bug/1735162
  - add python3-protobuf to python-protobuf 2.6.1-1.3 - Right now the python3
package is not built.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1735160] Re: [SRU] Please backport python3-macaroonbakery 0.0.6-1 [universe] from bionic

2018-01-11 Thread Andrea Azzarone
Oh I removed the python3 patch from the series but the not actual file.

Regarding 17.10 sil2100 confirmed me that this is required. But at least
it's going to be easier considering that:

- python3-httmock is already in artful (1.2.6-1 universe)
- python3-protobuf is already in artful (3.0.0-9ubuntu5 universe) (so no need
to apply the nacl patch in py-macaroon-bakery)
- python3-nacl's version of artful is 1.1.1-1build2 (so no need to apply the
nacl patch in py-macaroon-bakery)

The only things to be done are:
- target
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-apputils-python/+bug/1735162
for 17.10 too
- relax python3-six deps in py-macaroon-bakery
- SRU python3-pymacaroons
