[Touch-packages] [Bug 1945111] [NEW] Switching proprietary drivers on a not up-to-date system breaks it badly
Public bug reported: When a system is not fully up to date, mainly when there's a kernel update available, software-properties-gtk still allows to switch drivers, for example switching between nvidia drivers. Doing so will cause it to update the kernel, but not do a full upgrade. After the operation software-properties-gtk will suggest to reboot the machine and most likely cause the user to just do so. The problem with that is that linux-modules-extras will not be installed now and after the reboot the user is left with a broken system: Non- functioning graphics (well, llvmpipe still does if lucky) and what's even worse, no network drivers and depending on the machine maybe even without input device support. This will cause the user to require a second machine and a USB stick (and quite some knowledge) to recover the system. I've ran into this a couple of times now, seems reproducible. It is quite tricky to get out of this which IMO makes this a somewhat critical bug. ** Affects: software-properties (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to software-properties in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1945111 Title: Switching proprietary drivers on a not up-to-date system breaks it badly Status in software-properties package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When a system is not fully up to date, mainly when there's a kernel update available, software-properties-gtk still allows to switch drivers, for example switching between nvidia drivers. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1738676] Re: With natural scrolling, horizontal sliders behave backwards
Still an issue in 20.04 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to gtk+3.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1738676 Title: With natural scrolling, horizontal sliders behave backwards Status in GNOME Shell: New Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in gtk+3.0 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When natural-scrolling is enabled, controlling horizontal sliders is backwards and counter intuitive. The volume control in the top-bar "speaker" icon is backwards. You have to... - scroll DOWN, to INCREASE the volume - scroll UP, to DECREASE the volume Expected behavior: Enable natural-scrolling and - scroll UP, to INCREASE the volume - scroll DOWN, to DECREASE the volume - scroll UP, to INCREASE the screen brightness - scroll DOWN, to DECREASE the screen brightness Enable natural-scrolling, hover over a horizontal slider, and... - scroll UP, to move the slider to the RIGHT - scroll DOWN, to move the slider to the LEFT This happens for the OSD volume icon, and for the volume slider in the topbar menu. This also happens for screen brightness controls. This problem occurs for both mouse natural-scrolling and touchpad natural scrolling. Expected fix: When the pointer hovers over the speaker icon in the scroll actions on the speaker icon in the top bar should be reversed. When the user interacts with a horizontal slider, scrolling to the top should always move the slider to the right, and scrolling down should always move the slider to the left, even if natural-scrolling is enabled. On Xenial, this will open the apps store scope if it is installed (which might not be true by default) and on zesty this is supposed to open the snappy store, which at this point is not fully completed yet... This is something that affects all lists throughout the platform. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672082 Title: [unity8] app drawer scrolling animation doesn't stop when the app drawer is closed Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: ubuntu 17.04 unity 8 [unity8] app drawer scrolling animation doesn't stop when the app drawer is closed silly bug but yeah, have a lot of apps in the app drawer, open the app drawer, sroll down (1-2 times with your sroll wheel, the scroll animation has intertia stuff so it takes a bit until it fully stopes), click outside the app drower to close it, quick open the app drawer again, you'll see that the app drawer list is still scrolling. i kinda like it this way because it's fun to play with but probably just wasting cpu/gpu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1672082/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages Post to : touch-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~touch-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The highlighting of the selection is very subtle and there is not change to the window preview or the icon. I thought it would get easier after using unity8 a lot but it really hasn't. I think the following tweaks would make it much more clear which window is selected: 1) The app icon at the bottom should get bigger or some effect applied to it when the app window is selected. My eyes tend to look there as it's less cluttered than the window preview list 2) Make the border around the selected window preview thicker/darker to make it stand out more as currently the border highlighting is very subtle And/Or 3) Make the actual window preview larger (or some other effect to make it move forward) for the selected window so that it's super clear which window is selected. Ok, I can reproduce this now. Actual outcome: The current scope will immediately be closed and the first (main) scope (typically the app scope on devel-images and the Today scope on RTM) will be shown. If I understand the current design guidelines correctly this is the expected behaviour for a full left-to-right swipe, but not for a short swipe from the left to invoke the launcher. This behaviour can be observed on both the current devel-proposed and RTM images. - Desired UX - Don't trigger the "go to home" action yet when the long swipe is started but when user releases the finger and all the long swipe parameters are fulfilled (distance threshold and direction) - Also trigger "go to home" action when any other scope is focused. Currently action is triggered only when app is focused and when a child scope is focused but not when one of the dash scopes is focused. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1647417] [NEW] AdaptivePageLayout breaks on loading heavy pages
Public bug reported: When the pages to be loaded by AdaptivePageLayout are heavy (say, require a second to build up), the APL, because of his async nature by default, still allows user interaction while creating the page. If during that time the user triggers another action that would push something to the APL, it will break in two ways: * the first page will leak in memory * the second page is visible on the apl, but the back button in the header is missing setting APL to asynchronous: false is a workaround for this as the user cannot trigger any more actions while the page is building up. If you need an example to reproduce this, install "Guitar Tools" from the store, edit its sources to remove the "asynchronous: false" from the APL in there and launch the composer tool and quickly another entry from the menu. The composer tool is the one that takes long to load, any other entry can be used to trigger the bug. I have also seen reports from users in other apps that the back button in the header is missing sometimes. I am confident they are running into the same issue. ** Affects: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1647417 Title: AdaptivePageLayout breaks on loading heavy pages Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When the pages to be loaded by AdaptivePageLayout are heavy (say, require a second to build up), the APL, because of his async nature by default, still allows user interaction while creating the page. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1646457] Re: No feedback when changing Launcher's icon size
Actually this seems to mix 2 different things: * the description says "Make sure 'Desktop mode' is switched off" in which case changes in the launcher's size would be ignored completely * Even when in desktop mode, but having the launcher set to autohide, it would not reveal the launcher in order to give feedback. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1637249] Re: Removing app from the spread closes the spread
** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1637249 Title: Removing app from the spread closes the spread Status in Canonical System Image: Triaged Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: bq M10 rc-proposed r219 Steps to reproduce 1 open 3 apps 2 put one of them in the side stage 3 do the spread 4 swipe out the app which was in the side stage Expected result The spread stays What happens instead The spread closes and only one app is visible What I've noticed: if you swipe an app which was not in the side stage, the spread stays just fine. Also if there is more than one app in the side stage and you swipe one of them, the spread stays. It seems it closes only if there's one app in the side stage. This is really inefficient graphically because it is a transformed rectangle and so Qt falls back to stencil-based clipping.
