[Touch-packages] [Bug 1934931] Re: (X)ubuntu 20.04: GUFW and MS-Teams slow down traffic intermittently

Hi,
Gufw can't affect that behavior. I think is an ufw issue.
Best regards.

Title:
(X)ubuntu 20.04: GUFW and MS-Teams slow down traffic intermittently

Status in Gufw:
  Invalid
Status in ufw package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Thanks for Gufw!

inxi -S output: Xubuntu standard LTS installation - Kernel:
  5.4.0-77-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: Xfce 4.14.2 Distro: Ubuntu
20.04.2 LTS (Focal Fossa). GUFW 20.04.1, MS Teams 1.4.00.13653
(64-Bit) (all up to date at the time of this report).

** Problem: 250 Mbit LAN connection slowing down *intermittently*, but
reproducible, to a crawl of 300 kbit or less if Gufw is activated parallel to
MS teams.
  * Gufw is used with only basic settings provided after installation
(in:denied/out:allowed and nothing else set, no further rules).
  * There has not to be any active call in teams, just running it seems to
cause the problem after a while (<5 minutes).
  * After congestion for some time (minutes), the system may recover to full
speed again, only to succumb again after a few minutes.
  * Other parallel running programs' connections are slowed down as well in
accordance, e.g. parallel samba file sharing download is affected as well.
  * Stopping teams restores the connection speed after a short while (~1
minute).
  * Parallel connections to the LAN(router) are not inhibited, it is just the
one computer.

Teams seems to switch ports after restarting (UDP6/~34nnn-4). I
set up a range to be allowed within ports used by teams (e.g.
3:5, allow in/outbound) to no avail, connections dropped still
  to low speed.

  Thanks and regards,
  Christoph

After running the system for a while (few minutes) the system runs out of
memory and start killing processes.
It is very visible with the webbrowser or webapps because it renders the page
and displays a white page when oxide-render is killed. Although it is not
specific to oxide, and any app are killed (address-book, system-settings, ...)
You can clearly notice that other apps are being killed because when you switch
to the app it's all blurry and take a while to reload, also it loses its state
(for example, you lose the message you were writing in the messaging-app)

There is no specific steps to reproduce. I have several scopes enabled
(photos, nearby, news) You don't have to have tons of apps open to
reproduce this. Launching the webbrowser or a webapps and navigating
on the phone between the scopes and the open app seems enough for the
  system to start killing processes.

Soft white noise from speaker. It seems that some part of the audio
subsystem is still switched on. I am concerned that this could be
  draining battery.

  Workaround:

After the Podcast finishes, unlock the phone and switch back to the
Podbird app. This causes the noise to stop.

  Comments:

I noticed the same soft white noise continues a second or two after
the phone plays any sound from any app, but then turns off. I presume
there is some time out turning off some part of the audio subsystem.
Presumably if there is a reason, it should happen even when the app
causing the sound to play is not active.

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1375215] Re: System runs out of memory - white screens frequently seen in web renderers

2016-05-24 Thread costales
Hi Olivier :)

I found a behavior: Open uNav and put in background. Open it after
8hours and uNav will have a white screen (because it hasn't that
webview anymore, I don't know why).

I saw some apps, like Telegram, are reloaded when they come from
background, but it is not a new fresh start. Appears the application
reloads to itself (?).

In uNav there is nothing for reload the webview. Am I missing an app
cycle life?

Thanks in advance!!
Costales.

Hi Olivier :)

> @Marcos: what do you mean by "uNav is generating a lot of
> process/second"?

uNav is doing a lot of calculations by second when you're driving.
Then the CPU usage is so high.

> IIRC I once suggested you to monitor the 'webProcessStatus' property of
> the webview, and offer some user feedback when it’s killed or crashed.

We have this log from users and experimented by myself:

file:///opt/click.ubuntu.com/navigator.costales/0.59/qml/Main.qml:103:
TypeError: Type error
ubuntumirclient: Attempted to deliver an event to a non-existent
window, ignoring.

This is because the webview was killed and uNav doesn't find it.

Regenerate the webview could be a solution, but it would lost a current
route.

A hug!

Yesterday: - AGPS enabled.
- Drive 2 times, 36 km each time. No problems.

Night: - Fly mode.

Today: - Exit Fly mode and 3G (not wifi enabled).
- Start navigation with uNav.
- GPS has so bad accuracy.
- GPS has a good accuracy, uNav starts navigation.
- After 2 minutes, uNav stops. uNav isn't freeze, it's not getting new GPS
positions.
- I cancel the current route and start again: Message from uNav: GPS is denied.
- I close uNav and start Sensor Status in GPS tab. No positions during 15
minutes.
- I start uNav again, GPS Denied message is displayed. But every settings are
the same as in the start.
- I start OpenStreetMap (Alan's app): Javascript Alert, Geolocation error:
Permission denied.

Everything is fine in the uNav log in the moment that it didn't receive

2016-03-24 Thread costales
The battery is perfect (98% and 45% of average).

The phone is coming from a fly mode in the night.

There is not a number of days. Something is affecting it (maybe network?)
and when you open an application, it didn't get a position.

The first time this happened was in March of the 2015 with HERE, it didn't
get a position and it needed a phone reboot.

I haven't a behavior for reproduce, I am sorry. I will try to use the tool
you mentioned and if it is happening again to me, I'll not restart for
analize it :)

Re: [Touch-packages] [Bug 1561627] Ubuntu Phone: GPS is not returning positions toapps

2016-03-24 Thread costales
I could tell you that this is happening in every device and image and from
ever. I found this bug 8 months ago and it persists.

It is happening in my:
- bq in stable and rc-proposed.
- mx4 in stable.
- nexus 4 in rc-proposed.

It is so random behavior, the app will not get ever a pos. Probably a GPS
app like HERE or uNav will show the issue more easy, because it will never
get a first position. It is like the GPS was locked.

I never used that tool. I hope someone could report a dump of this. If I
can, I'll do too :)

  Hi!

I think that the mobile network cell triangulation position is not
  working in Ubuntu Phone OS.

The position should be really fast (~1 - 5") and I'm thinking that
Ubuntu Phone is waiting for a real GPS position every time.

A good test could be this:
  - Go to a room, way out of a sky to avoid a real GPS signal.
  - Set WiFi service OFF.
  - Set GPS service ON.
  - Set data connection ON.
  - Go to this website via webbrowser-app:
http://leafletjs.com/examples/mobile-example.html The website will ask you to
allow access to the current location.
  - Make sure to not have a GPS position cached.

In a PC or *any* Android you'll see your position immediately.
Bug: In Ubuntu Phone an error will appears. This error is because the
geoposition
(https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Geolocation/Using_geolocation)
is not working with the cell triangulation network data.

You can try a lot of apps like Google Maps, OSMTouch, HERE map, uNAV... and a
fast position from data connection is not happening, unless you be with a WIFI
connection.
If you try Google Maps in Android, the position will be really fast just with
data connection.

  Thanks in advance!

Hi!
My device is MX4, Ubuntu version 15.04 (r4) OTA6, updated to 27/8/15.
@Pat: If you used the GPS in you krillin, the position could be cached and
you'll get a position.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1426307] Re: location is inaccurate

2015-09-03 Thread costales
Hi Lucio,

> Yes, it's working perfectly in Portugal/Spain but not in Germany.

A big location change could take a lot of time, the same as the first app
startup. Could you leave it near to a window or in the car without movement?

>
> The accuracy in Portugal drifts between 2m and 20m.

Yes, 2,5m is the best possible for a mobile GPS.

>
> In Germany there's no data at all visible in this app.

It's weird :( The 26% of users are from Germany and no body reported
this.

>
> I don't accept it to use a service like Nokia's HERE

Do you have the Nokia HERE disabled? You have to enable it :( It's the
unique way the GPS will work.
Could be this the origin of the problem?

>
> I think it's neccessary to create the possibility to see some debug

Yes, I need to think in something about current GPS data :)

Hi Lucio :)
Did you try it in Portugal and it worked fine and it is not working in

Could you try the app Sensor Status and give me the feedback? It will tell
you about the accuracy.
I think there is not more information available abaout satellites :(

In my opinion the blur image in the Meizu is not so heavy, but sometimes
the picture is not as it should be for that great camera.

  3. Drive.
  4. When you'll be into a WIFI area as a town or city, I'm thinking the WIFI
will try to search WIFIs and then the GPS will stop, the GPS apps will not
receive more new positions from the GPS.

Extra info1: If you had GPS Navigation Sensor running, both of them
will not receive new GPS positions from the device. If you restart for

Sensor Status not, until you restart it too.

Extra info2: When the GPS stops the icon in the status disappears, but
it you kill and relaunch the app, the icon will appear again.

- Big zoom in follow your position.
- BUG: Each 1/15 times, the position changes: This is because it changed the

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1469007] [NEW] [Meizu MX4] In first run, a GPS app is not asking about location

2015-06-26 Thread costales
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure if this is from the OTA4.

The first you run a GPS application, it is not asking permission for the
location (and it hasn't permission).
If you kill the app, the next times will not ask either.
You have to reboot the phone, then in the first new run, yes, it will ask for
location.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! It's MX4, Ubuntu 15.04 r2.

If I turn Wifi off the prompt is always displayed. Could it be a side
effect of bug 1462664?

Uhm... yes, it could be from my tests :O Well done!!

Thanks for your feedback Sergi! :)

The app needs 3G for set the route maps.
Do you have the freeze issue always in the same point? It could be great
for debug things.

FYI You can set a route with 3G and then, disable the 3G. You'll have a
white map (no map) and it can't be recalculate the route.
If you'll be in the right way all the time you'll see the blue route line
using just GPS.

A hug!

Bug description:
  Hi!

With the app GPS Navigation a few users have problem with a freeze
issue, because of 100% CPU usage or heavy swap usage (I don't know,
  because I can't reproduce it.

For some users, it is working perfect, for other is freezing after a few
minutes. You can see here the user reviews:
  https://uappexplorer.com/app/navigator.costales

  The code is here:

http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~costales/unav/trunk/view/head:/www/js/geolocation.js
It's just a simple HTML5 geolocation code. Even I added a reject control for
more that 1 request by 800 microseconds.

I think it could be the GPS doing a lot of request by second or the
web container is freezing waiting for GPS.

  Thanks in advance!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1462489] Re: Allow apps to keep the screen on

2015-06-08 Thread costales
I made GPS Navigation app. I need to config the idle screen for use this
app each time :(
I'd need to set the screen = ON always.

I'm receiving bad user reviews too in the Store because of this (for
example, review of Jun 6 or 4, 2015)
https://uappexplorer.com/app/navigator.costales
The only minor flaw so far is that it lets the screen dim even if screen
lock is off - it would be nice to be able to disable that.
screem auto dims even if I change Bq phone settings.
has no option for always on screen wich goes dark after 1 min
the screen turns almost down even if I set the never sleep option up

For a video apps it would be useful too.

Best regards!

THanks Jamie,
It's OK the user question :)

This is a QML container for a web, then should I to add the media-hub for
this kind of app? Is it just that?

Thanks in advance!

FYI, the suggested implementation in the bug is to ask the user the first
time
the app tries to inhibit the screen turning off if it is ok to do this--
after
that the answer will be remembered (and thereafter adjustable in system
settings). I don't know if this will be the actual implementation, but
the idea
is to solve your issue when it is implemented.

For a video apps it would be useful too.

Video apps should be using media-hub which already has the ability to
inhibit
the screen turning off. Webapps needing this are waiting for work that is
in
progress to make media-hub work with oxide, but that is coming.

I was looking into the apparmor and I didn't find any 'media'...
I found a media-hub into the video module. Then I added that to the
project, but it didn't work.
I'm a bit lost, I didn't find documentation about media-hub. Please,
could you put me in the right way? :) Thanks in advance!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1451024] Re: Ubuntu phone: Changed (dpi?) resolution in the last core update

2015-05-06 Thread costales
Hi Olivier!
The zoom to the pages was the double and 'better' mobile layout before the
last Ubuntu core update. Now is r21 in BQ Ubuntu Edition.

By example, you can see the change in Messenger from the official
application screenshot:
https://uappexplorer.com/app/fbmessenger.johangm90

Now:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity8/+bug/1451024/+attachment/4392084/+files/messenger.png
After the update:
https://myapps.developer.ubuntu.com/site_media/appmedia/2015/04/Captura_de_pantalla_de_2015-04-08_22_50_30.png
As you can see, something is wrong, I'm thinking the dpi (?).

Where is the problem? If you login into the Messenger, all is really
small.

Best regards and thanks in advance!

Hi Florian!
I just have a BQ Ubuntu Edition, I can't try it with an Android BQ 4.5
:( I'm so sorry.
Please, could you (Canonical) ask to BQ about this? Maybe other user
could give you the requested example.

BQ is glad about its camera:
http://www.bq.com/gb/products/aquaris-e4-5.html#camera-section
We’ve improved the quality of our cameras so that you take better pictures
But sincerely, my cheap Galaxy ACE camera never took a blur picture
like that. I'm thinking is something about the focus, because I took a
good pictures some times.

As other user asked, this should be a priority issue, because the
quality pictures are one of the most important factors to buy a phone
or other.

Best regards!

Please, uncomment this line:

Logout login again. Click on the entry Ambient Noise of the sound

3. The library is returning a critical error: http://paste.ubuntu.com/10730511/
But others players aren't grey.

Thanks in advance!!

Title:
Grey out entry in Ubuntu Unity 14.04+

Status in indicator-sound package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi!
I developed a player for play noise sounds from the sound indicator.

  I'm using this library:

http://theravingrick.blogspot.com.es/2011/02/easily-support-sound-menu-in-python.html
  in my code:
  https://code.launchpad.net/anoise

When the player is running, the entry in the sound indicator is grey out, as
you can see in the attachment.
But all works fine anyway. It's just the grey color.

I reviewed all the code and library and I'm stuck in this issue.
  FYI, these tests:
  1. With the precise indicator-sound is not grey.
  2. In Ubuntu MATE is not grey.
  3. The library is returning a critical error:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/10730511/ But others players aren't grey.

  Thanks in advance!!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1424791] Re: Ubuntu Phone: cellular data did not recover after losing coverage

2015-03-26 Thread costales
@Tony, yes it's complicate to replicate, but I travelled 2 times in
train without mobile cover, and the mobile can't recovery the 3G
connection after that.

The terminal it's a BQ Ubuntu 14.10 (r20), last updated 3/19/15.
Best regards!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1431920] Re: Ubuntu Phone BQ: Message into welcome screen = No data sources available

2015-03-15 Thread costales
I disabled a few weeks ago of reports into the welcome screen. I forgot that.
But you could use a better message as: Data sources disabled :)
