Title:
webbrowser randomly crashes when downloading file

Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Seems this only affects my Aquaris M10 - haven't experienced anything
  like that on my E4.5.

When clicking on download-button webbrowser crashes quite often (like
1 in 3 times). Simply immediately closes. When reopening browser, I
can see the download file is listed in Download-manager with 0% (and
won't do anything). When retry downloading the same file, everything
works - no crash until now.

I've added crashed-log. Please ask if you need any more information.

In fact the crash is really fixed in OTA-11.
By the way: I'm really surprised how performance increased in OTA-11. Really
nice Update :).

Thanks for your time and Sorry.

2016-05-27 Thread philipp
Since the m10 doesn't even have 3G I'm using wifi.

OTA 11 is scheduled to next week, isn't it? Let's just wait and I'll
tell you if same error still occurs.

And I just downloaded a bunch more files of various types and sizes
without any problems on the same device.

@Philipp: when the browser crashes trying to download a file, are you
connected over wifi or 3G/4G?

Unfortunately that core dump is corrupted, it doesn’t seem to contain
useful information:

(gdb) bt
#0 0xf6e79af6 in ?? ()
#1 0xf6efabde in ?? ()
Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585097] Re: webbrowser randomly crashes when downloading file

2016-05-26 Thread Olivier Tilloy
I just successfully downloaded the first 8 PDF files listed on the first
results page from a google search on "example pdf".
That’s on my M10 running on the latest rc-proposed image. I wonder whether that
crash exists only in the stable OTA release, and has been fixed since then?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585097] Re: webbrowser randomly crashes when downloading file

2016-05-25 Thread philipp
Actually it's not a specific file or site - i tried random pdf files. It
doesn't crash any time - but quite often. I noticed it doesn't crash
twice on the same file. Sometimes there are more crashes and sometimes
everything works.

I've re-added the .crash file, because I noticed it is now quite big.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1585097] Re: webbrowser randomly crashes when downloading file

2016-05-24 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Unfortunately the attached crash file doesn’t have a core dump.

Can you reproduce the crash with any file to download on any site, or is
it specific to a given site/file type? Could you maybe link to a page
where such a link triggers a crash, so I can try to reproduce on my
device?
