Committed in r10716.

I like it. I will like to test it more with different setups, but I
think you can commit this. At that stage I think we should also
reconsider the black border for the target text. I know Dwayne wanted
that one, so perhaps he would still like the dark border back for the
source!

Let's see. Looking great anyway.

I agree about the monospace font.

The screen: 24 inches @ 1920x1200, but using only 1250px for the browser :P

This isn't done through CSS but directly from Python or even
JavaScript is possible (not so nice though).

I see we all agree with this and that the third one is the best choice :)

- lighter background and smaller font for locations:

No, this thread has born after an IRC conversation -- therefore,
nothing you've missed. These styles will be included right in the CSS,
so any Pootle admin can edit them (unfortunately there's no easy way
to support skins right now).

Thanks for your input !

The thing is that the screenshot was taken on a screen with a very high
resolution viewed at full screen width. This means that there is lots
of space. When viewed on a lower resolution (eg a laptop with a more
squarish screen) or not in full screen width (eg if the user doesn't
maximise his browser windows), the layout is likely to look more
crowded. I personally had no problem with the size of the elements
here... I noticed that the location comments are in a monospace font,
and that is good because it reaffirms the potentially more geeky nature
of it, but I did not think that it was too big.

I know that one can hide stuff using CSS, but is it possible to build
evaluations into a style sheet (i.e. if dev comment = none then set loc
comment = do display)?

> Can we try with a lighter background colour for the source texts?

I agree for a slightly lighter background colour.

I think I've missed the initial posts of this thread -- is this about
creating skins for Pootle or will these styles be hard-coded?

Looking great!

My vote is also with this one. I agree with Alaa that we should try a
smaller font for the location comments. I think it is looking large
since it uses a monospaced font. In Virtaal we are only showing it if
there are no developer comments. Even then we are only showing the first
three (if I remember correctly). Should we try something similar?

Can we try with a lighter background colour for the source texts? I
think the test screenshot should also include XML markup and/or escapes
since they are not shown as black. This way we can make sure that the
contrast between the text and the background is high. Obviously we want
things as accessible as possible.

Just some ideas...

Keep well
Friedel

I like this one, I still think the location box is distracting though,
maybe a smaller font?

cheers,

[translate-pootle] styling of the new translate page

2009-03-24 Thread Julen
Hi people,

I've been playing a little bit with the styling of the new translate
page and I'd like to hear from you in order to get a better workplace
for all the Pootle users.

I have three screenshots to show you.

The first one is the current styling on trunk:
http://xs137.xs.to/xs137/09132/thick5250.png

Which I think it has too thick borders. So here we have a modification:
http://xs137.xs.to/xs137/09132/thick2951.png

And a third screenshot, with a small change not to give so much
importance to the location comments:
http://xs137.xs.to/xs137/09132/thick4732.png

So please, let me know what do you think about this and don't hesitate
to post and discuss any ideas you have!

Julen.
