It is written to scale well, and to give queries over HTTP in Jason, so it should integrate easily with other translation tools as well. For now we are focusing on using this for Virtaal, but Pootle should be in line very soon (after we sort out a few other things first). Obviously anybody is free to start using the server as soon as they want. Currently it only works with sqlite, but porting to another database should be reasonably easy. (There are a few things specific to sqlite.) My guess is that it will start to be testable later today, so you might want to keep an eye on SVN. If you aren't so keen, you can just wait for the next release, which isn't that far away. For TBX - that should be easy to do. We already have terminology suggestion code, and we can read TBX files. As I'm writing this, a TM server is appearing in the Translate Toolkit which will work as a standalone server. It is written to scale well, and to give queries over HTTP in Jason, so it should integrate easily with other translation tools as well. I suppose that the gtranslator developers could write a plugin for this server if there is enough documentation. Are you thinking on open-tran functionalities for this server? In the galician free software translation project (aka Proxecto Trasno http://trasno.net) we were thinking about this a lot of time. We searched tools for maintaining several glossaries (terminology lists) that allowed to export to TBX (ISO standard for terminology). In Mancomun (initiative for free software from galician government) were using a web translation tool called Entrans, but they were moving to Pootle, so thinking on using the same terminology in the two translation projects (government and volunteers) we tried to find some that could integrate with Pootle. We found nothing related with Pootle, but on the other hand we found Globs (http://softwarelivre.sapo.pt/projects/globs), a software that is in development right now, that is intended for maintainig several glossaries in a collaborative way, with translations into several languages, with web interface, discussion the terms,... But this doen't really snaps perfectly to our needs (lack of some kind of way to consult directly from a desktop program), and have a lot of functionalities that we don't need (exports glossaries to LaTeX). Since it is still in development and we are in contact with the developer, we are asking him to include the things we need, and giving him ideas to improve the interface. I was thinking on wait until the software is mature to supress some unneeded functionalities and get the software we need, but it still won't have integration with Pootle (unless Pootle could act like a desktop program for querying this system using xml-rpc or another way). If you want to know more from what the galician team needs from this tool, I suppose I could write down the specifications of the system.
