Re: [Trisquel-users] Who of this community honestly runs Trisquel GNU/Linux?
No, you don't need to insist they use anything in particular. Just not Skype, or anything else that requires use of proprietary software. Like, as I mentioned, the phone network. Video chat is not a necessity for communication. Heck, neither is voice. There are too many possibilities to stay in touch with people for me to list.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Who of this community honestly runs Trisquel GNU/Linux?
Thank you for the answer, but forgive me, I meant: most people in the world video chat with skype. Do you insist they change to somethign libre if they want to talk to you? Or does your program connect to skype? If you use a video program. - Z
Re: [Trisquel-users] Who of this community honestly runs Trisquel GNU/Linux?
I'd think that should be handled on a case-by-case basis. But the only scenarios I can think of that would excuse Skype usage involve someone dying. In any other circumstance, you can establish some other form of communication. If someone is unwilling to do so when you tell them you can't use Skype anymore, either they're not really your friend or long-distance communication is unimportant (maybe because you see them every day). Note, most people who have Internet access also have some kind of phone. So that is a perfectly viable option. Just tell them to call you from now on. I think you can even do that from Skype if you really want to, though I'm not sure since it's been so long since I've seen it up-close.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Who of this community honestly runs Trisquel GNU/Linux?
How are you liking Uruk? I'm considering switching to it as even Trisquel is a bit to heavy for this laptop.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Who of this community honestly runs Trisquel GNU/Linux?
Trisquel 7 on an old HP laptop. It is my main computer. Someone gave me an old Mac desktop I use for skype calls with friends, and to watch Amazon movies sometimes.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Who of this community honestly runs Trisquel GNU/Linux?
Banana, How do you do handle communication with, say, a friend in another country who uses skype for video chat? Most of my friends use skype. - Z

Re: [Trisquel-users] Stallman and tor
There is also Free As In Freedom: https://web.archive.org/web/20150103152231/https://static.fsf.org/nosvn/faif-2.0.pdf Ooooh! And while looking for a legal-in-as-many-countries-as-possible gratis copy for you, I found out that 2.0 exist; instant karma. :) Anyway, that's the one that gave me and mine a bit more insight into the man behind the software. It was a bit much for my then-8 year old, but some of that was just chronological snobbery on his part and needing a bit more experience with this thing called "life". It would make a quick, easy, relaxing read for an adult or teen.

[Trisquel-users] ownCloud-client Installation
Having trouble installing ownCloud-client, and getting it to run, I discovered the following: The instructions at this link got around the problems, and ownClound-client works on both the 32 & 64 versions: https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=isv%3AownCloud%3Adesktop%3Aclient-2.2.1&package=owncloud-client To become root, >sudo su For Debian 7.0 run the following as root (you need to be root, not just preceed the command with sudo): echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/isv:/ownCloud:/desktop:/client-2.2.1/Debian_7.0/ /' > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/owncloud-client.list apt-get update apt-get install owncloud-client
[Trisquel-users] libreboot flashing t400, raspberry pi to soic wiring?
One task about getting libreboot on the mainboard is wiring the raspberry pi pins to a soic 8 or soic 16 clip. On libreboot's irc I asked which pins on the raspberry pi to connect to which soic pins. Only answer I got, said find out yourself, because people can mix up the pin numbers. I think it is more likely I will get the wiring right, if I am told the pin numbers. Please tell if you know the pin numbers. The raspberry pi pins have these numbers. https://pinout.xyz/# Name soic clip pins as upper row pin number 2 from left. Or lower row pin number 3 from left. I do not know if the flash chip in the computer has 8 or 16 pins. That is why I ask you to tell the wiring for a soic 8 clip and soic 16 clip. For power supply I will use 3.3v from an atx power supply. You can start an atx power supply if you wire the green wire to a black wire. To which pins on a soic 8 and soic 16 do I connect power? Better would be, if I could get a picture of the wiring. Thanks.

[Trisquel-users] Re : uruk gnu/linux 2.0 beta-2
Why do you write that Uruk 2.0 is unsuitable for computers with 2GB of RAM after showing that it uses less than 600MB?
