[Trisquel-users] Trisquel 8... where are you?
I was looking at the Purism laptops today and they come with PureOS as the operating system. It would have been nice to have Trisquel as an option, but version 8 is STILL nowhere to be found. Anyone remember when Ruben would release Trisquel at a decent rate? The most recent version (7) is based off of an OS from April of 2014!
[Trisquel-users] Re : Free Software solutions for LabView
There is Scratch. It is very famous... but educational. It is in Trisquel's repository.
[Trisquel-users] Re : ppa.launchpad.net 403 forbidden error
Currently supported releases are Xenial/16.04 and Yakkety/16.10 https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa No Trusty/14.04 (anymore). That is why.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Software-update arrives at a brick wall
$ No space left on device That is the problem. Your root partition is full. It may be because you never remove the older kernels. If so, I suggest you remove, with 'sudo rm file', the older kernels in /boot, but not the one you use: be careful! All the files in /boot that have a version number can be removed except those having the version number that this command returns: $ uname -r Then, try again: $ sudo dpkg --configure -a Then, remove with the package manager the actual packages that provided the kernels you removed with 'sudo rm' (you can search the installed packages whose name start with "linux-"). If the command above worked, you can use the "Synaptic Package Manager" to do so. Finally, you can use the "Disk Usage Analyzer", in the "System Settings", to discover what takes most of the space in your root partition (it may not only be the older kernels).
Re: [Trisquel-users] Free Software solutions for LabView
I have searched this a time before. Theiy are not flow-based, compiled and general-purpose (i don't specify this, sorry) in many cases.

Hi amenex Lauchpad has an irc chan on freenode, you may get more info about server/repo/.sources list on that specific package #launchpad
Re: [Trisquel-users] raptor talos will make a lower priced mainboard, if you buy 10000
Thanks for the update, tonlee, although it is discouraging that Raptor will not be able to provide specifications. In my opinion, for the crowdfunding to have any chance at all, they would have to provide a firm quote first, including specs, price, lead time, warranty details. As you say, people would need to know what they are paying for. I am not surprised that they are not in favor of a notebook board, as that would involve additional challenges, as I mentioned before. Did you have any luck in contacting RMS or the FSF? Given Raptor's position, I wonder if the best way forward might be to kick off some sort of online petition, to gather signatures of those who would be willing to buy a new Power9 board for $500, to try to gauge if the interest is really there. If we could get 20-30,000 signatures, that might help to convince Raptor that the project is feasible.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Abrowser, latest version (2017 Oct.)
My bad, I misunderstood. Does the one I highlighted work?
[Trisquel-users] ppa.launchpad.net 403 forbidden error
While doing my customary update/upgrade routine on a desktop PC that I am keeping alive, I ran into the following barrier:
Err http://ppa.launchpad.net trusty/main i386 Packages 403 Forbidden W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-i386/Packages 403 Forbidden
A Google search produced some Ubuntu answers, but when I tried the proposed Ubuntu solution on the Trisquel repository (short version: switch to the main repository) the above quoted response was repeated. Is there a more orderly procedure in place ? Nothing about "ppa.launchpad.net 403" in the archives ... In the meantime, I'll see about updating "trusty" to "belanos" ... Thanks, George Langford

Which means a lot of cooling and for laptops that means not a generic off the shelf heatsinks/cooling systems but custom designed and made cooling system, i guess. Along with all the addition bits and complications in making a notebook. After watching luke making a eoma68 laptop, it is a lot of work. When if you want portable you probably want something lower power with longer batt life. Note that eoma68 has a power budget of 5W for the computer card wheres i guess (idk) the talos will be double digit power needs. A ATX board pops into existing PCs. so they just have to do the basic stuff (the big power supply brick, for example. is already done for them, laptop would mean diy power supply.) and i guess less trouble fitting it all in the space of the atx pcb. It’s a struggle to do anything. The challenge is to make something at all. Anyway heres an existing powerpc laptop project: https://www.powerpc-notebook.org/en/ It was mentioned/talked about on the eoma68/rhombus-tech/arm-netbook mailing list: http://lists.phcomp.co.uk/pipermail/arm-netbook/2017-September/014695.html
Re: [Trisquel-users] libreboot flashing t400, raspberry pi to soic wiring?
check here: https://support.lenovo.com/sk/en/downloads/ds014989 try to search a little bit more next time ;). I've used windows program to update it since I've bought the T400 with preinstalled windows 7, so I updated it prior to reinstalling the OS to Trisquel.

Welcome here! This is a wonderful, vibrant community where you should be comfortable asking any question you may have no matter what your existing level of skill with Gnu/Linux may be.
Re: [Trisquel-users] raptor talos will make a lower priced mainboard, if you buy 10000
I got an email from raptor. They will not state specifications of a mainboard. If gathering the pieces of information means costs to raptor, it is understandable. If a crowd funding is initiated, raptor will have to display specifications because people will want to know what they buy. Raptor is not in favor of a notebook mainboard. Raptor does not elaborate. It seems making a notebook ppc mainboard is more difficult. Requiring bigger sales numbers in order to keep a lower price. Instead raptor suggest a micro atx mainboard. I would prefer a notebook mainboard enabling people to make their own portable or notebook solutions.
Re: [Trisquel-users] libreboot flashing t400, raspberry pi to soic wiring?
The t400 came with windows 10 installed. I do not know from which windows version it was updated. I deleted windows 10. I have a windows 7 iso. I have no windows 7 license. Windows 7 will work for some time, if you do not activate it. Can I install the ec update program? Do you have a link to the ec update program? I read the linux instructions on updating the ec. To complicated.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Software-update arrives at a brick wall
Back in my "office" ... when I attempted to start Synaptic Package Manager, a popup appeared, saying that an error occurred, and, after stating that E: dpkg was interrupted, demanded that I "run [sudo] dpkg --configure -a to correct the problem." The popup also said "E: _cache->open() failed, please report." Using copy & paste into Terminal and adding sudo, I was greeted with a brief flurry of acivity ... poof ... no Terminal. When I close the popup, Synaptic Package Manager goes down with it. Afterwards, Terminal crashed when I attempted dmesg requests. I rebooted, ran [sudo] dpkg --configure -a again, watched Terminal go poof again, and then restarted terminal, followed by dmesg | tail, which produced what looks like a memory dump:
dmesg | tail [ 52.724371] 01 12 01 03 0e 2f 1e 78 2a 78 f1 a6 55 48 9b 66 [ 52.724376] 22 50 54 bf ef 80 b3 00 01 80 81 40 71 4f 01 01 [ 52.724382] 01 01 01 01 01 01 7c 5e 90 a0 60 1a 1e 40 30 40 [ 52.724387] 36 00 da 28 11 00 00 1a 00 00 00 fd 00 38 4b 1e [ 52.724393] 51 1e 00 0a 20 20 20 20 20 20 00 00 00 fc 00 53 [ 52.724398] 79 dc 63 9b 61 73 74 65 72 0a 20 20 00 00 00 ff [ 52.724403] 00 48 39 9e 51 43 30 32 32 36 31 0a 20 20 00 55 [ 54.406428] audit_printk_skb: 27 callbacks suppressed [ 54.406437] type=1400 audit(1507724080.898:21): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_replace" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/lib/cups/backend/cups-pdf" pid=1974 comm="apparmor_parser" [ 54.406457] type=1400 audit(1507724080.898:22): apparmor="STATUS" operation="profile_replace" profile="unconfined" name="/usr/sbin/cupsd" pid=1974 comm="apparmor_parser"
... which seems irrelevant to the present issue. Is there a more useful form of dmesg ? Thanks, George Langford
[Trisquel-users] Re : Abrowser, latest version (2017 Oct.)
Well, that is a bug... Does the search bar (that SuperTramp83 shows you in his attachment) properly work? You can define another "Home Page" in the "General" "Preferences" (that you access from the menu button: the three stacked segments). https://duckduckgo.com for instance.

[Trisquel-users] Re : Disconnection from network after waking computer from sleep
I assume you still have the desired kernel installed. Otherwise, install it again. You must then boot that kernel: choose it in the "Advanced options" of the GRUB menu... but a user and a password will be asked: the user is "grub" and the password is at the very end of the output of 'sudo cat /etc/grub.d/01_PASSWORD', to be executed in a terminal. But you had better get rid of that useless password (GRUB's developers say so!): https://trisquel.info/forum/updating-error#comment-117506 Then, remove the newer kernels, e.g., using the "Synaptic Package Manager" in the "System Settings". The configuration of GRUB (which is used!) will be automatically updated: the most recent kernel boots by default.
