I meant 2.5 is good in capacity terms but it also means that is not a dual channel memory and the frecuency of the 512 modele is lower to that memory module so that is less frecuency for both memory modules.

It may start slow or not. It depends on if the files were cached before. If it starts slow is because it is buffering de data. The it goes fast but its speed decreases because it gets hotter while the time passes by, so the transfer starts to slower down to a certain speed (that is to the hotter temperature of the stick plus the port) until it finishes. Yes, it is normal as we call it physics ha. That's how everything works. To deal with it u cooling and that is how some system uses that (not USB) for example a cooler fan on ur CPU.

HDDs has SMART which gives u another level of trust in data but both depends on luck anyway. And above all, u coulda bought more RAM instead of an SSD and get the system on the RAM which is a lot faster than the SSD.

Hello. Buy an HDD. That's the best you can do. SSDs are not what they say they are. The root for marketing, politics, etc. is to convince; to lie, in other words. SSDs are not well prepared for writing but for access and above all for CACHE. I think of 2 options: 1- SSD has the OS and you can put the /home in the HDD. Use ext4 without journaling in the SSD and u can use xfs or ext4 in the HDD. The system will be boost with this. 2- It may be that your installation was "craped" and you need to reinstall (never heard of this on linux but I know it happened in sum Windows PCs but the rate is nothing). It may be due to the cache for the SSD stuff is broken or something. Anyways, some questions: a) Which kernel version r u using? b) hOW MANY FILES ARE THOSE 1GB? And directories? c) R u copying from where to where? d) You should check your cables. It may be that. If it is a cables issue, it is for sure the power conector (molex). But try replacing both (on every Disk that is beeing used for your copying) e) Please, post the components of your PC/NB and don't forget to mention the power suppley model number.

IP is for the DoD model (AKA TCP/IP or Internet model) while MAC is for the OSI model. OSI has 7 layers while DoD has 4. Now I'm gonna say that what marioxcc is "partially wrong" in the sense of the use of the word Internet plus another thing I'm going 2 mention: Internet AKA The Net differs from internet. An internet is any network which is interconected thru routers AND USES THE TCP/IP protocols to comunicate. On the other hand Internet is larger internet in the world (nd dee universe). Password weakness is not a openssh bug and because its not related to openssh we could think of take a task to teach users about passwords weakness and policies. To play 1080p videos you'll need the following (tested on Trisquel 6.0 32bits): * processor: 2.7Ghz (I guess about 2.3Ghz would be OK too). * Graphics Card: 32MB video RAM (it can be shared memory, I've tested with shared memory, obviously onboard card). Decent CUDA and base clock speed. * Memory: 512MB DDR2 800Hzs (using 64bits OS will need more RAM | better using 2 x 256MB). * North and South bridge with sufficient speed. * Gnome Player as in Trisquel default. Most of the videos will play good but at some part like a lot of rain plus quick movements it could not run smoothy but after that it can recover from that. Unfortunately the best HD video player is non free and for Windows (MPC) because it makes a good use of codecs. Linux best player for this is GNome Player. Worst player ever for this is VLC (also in Windows). * Drivers: I dunno. I've always played with drivers working and nVIDIA chipsets. I'll try not using neuvou drivers and update it here. Aboove the specifics I mention before everyone should be fine but I can't say on ATI or Intel if that needs are the same for those graphic cards. BTW: Post more specifications on the hardware you're running. On HD videos and HRF is not about capcity, it's about speed.

Actually, SSH server is enabled by default in every Trisquel installation. Trisquel enviroment will include it too because you're asking the default Trisquel enviroment to be installed. If you download and install the packages for a desktop (just a desktop not desktop enviroment) like gnome it will not include SSH server by default. SSH is secure and it has encryption so it's not a thing to worry about to much.

Now I get it. I didn't know that scripting files had a common name. I always called scripting for Windows (DOS not PwerShell or others) batch and scripting for linux shell scripting and I always supossed that other OS has its own names for it. Good to know that now.

QUestion, is there any table/documentation about Trisquel requirements, 32bits Live system, 64bits Live system, 32bits installed, Trisquel-mini, etc. TO sum up something, when the system loads up in Trisquel live system 32bits its memory consumption is 198MB while on 64bits 319MB.

I've installed Trisquel 6.0.1 64bits; memory consumption is 299MB at startup. Issues: * Windows and effects management icon is missing if you change the theme to Adwaita. * I set my keyboard to Spanish layout at installation but the truth is that the layout when I typed was in USA despite system settings saying it was on Spanish. After selecting USA it changed what it says to USA layout and keep writing that way. After that I chose back Spanish and distribution appeared saying it was changed to latinoamerican (as I chose; distribution didn't appeared before doing that). Then the layout worked as expected.

What ADFENO says is OK. But I've got to mention that we are not sure if this is a problematic partition. That root directory you're trying to access (if I didn't get you wrong) is not the root directory of the live OS on your DVD. So, you shouldn't have access to it like if you were the owner as you are not. The users and passwords of your Live version are not the ones of your not live version because those are two differents OS.

The battery is one way. But you can also try changing the jumper. Read your Mainboard manual and follow it. Not every mainboard can be reset by removing the battery or changing the jumper. Some mainboards needs both, one after another and viceversa, etc. Generally, removing the battery is OK. There are programs to change the password. About 12 years ago I used one thru Windows and worked. But I haven't need that again so I don't know about that kind of software now. I just follow motherboard instructions.

Actually, it always worked for me and it is working now. $ man grep doesn't shows that option (why?) but if you try it you'll get a result. Try this for example: $ lspci | grep --p VGA|USB One I add --p it searches differents words for results: USB then VGA. What I tried is to get just info of thethe GPU controller. If that doesn't works, means VGA is called in another way. Would lspci --p VGA|Video work? If we write lspci -v we get a verbose info about all controllers. I'm trying to get just VGA controller without other controllers.

640KB of RAM??? I wonder if MenuetOS would work on it. Sure you meant 640MB. Good pointed. The machine from this user looks more than plenty for Trisquel.

1- Do as mention before by Michal. 2- Mentioned by lembas here and here http://trisquel.info/en/forum/skip-login-window. 3- Midori uses about 8MB less than Abrowser. Remember that Trisquel-mini is pretended to be for lightweighted use. You can install abrowser if you prefer. 4- I would not be so anxious for another version. Trisquel is great as it is. If you wanna change or add someting you are free to do it and ask for help for it too. 5- I haven't tried a second screen.Out of ideas there. Make another thread for that and you'll surely get more help there.

https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/compiling-gnu-linux-libre-kernel to compile another kernel if you need to make your wifi work. Notice that Trisquel 6.0.1 is there to install too.
