When I wrote "in the following" there's a missing word. It should they: "in
the following days".
You say users assume there's no server running on their system so it's not
they fault. But you assume that an attacker will break into their system.
Ussuming it's not a proof of anything. The majority of users don't know what
a server is. If they choose a strong password there's almost nothing to worry
about in matters of security issues.
This is not about a security vulnerability, this is about password
consciousness.
