Re: [U2] Pick Hits
Hi Will - I found a copy of the 1988 edition of Pick Hits. Send me your address and I'll send it to you, if you have not already acquired one. You can email your address to support at asent dot com. Thanks, Peter Schellenbach In 1988 I believe, and then again in 1990 or so, Pick Systems published a book called Pick Hits which listed every vendor and what they were... vending. ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users
[U2] GreenBar End-Of-Job Eject
We recently did a fresh install of UV 10.3.6. With the former version 10.1, when GreenBar print jobs ran, it would automatically eject a page at the end of the report when the job finished. With UV 10.3.6, it no longer auto-ejects. I want it to do the auto-eject so that I do not have to tweak two dozen programs. It is a Printronix printer with an HP JetDirect print server. Suggestions would be appreciated. --Bill ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users
Re: [U2] GreenBar End-Of-Job Eject
if it's running on *nix, you could modify the printer drivers in /usr/uv (ours are in /usr/uv/lpt.drivers) example: cat - | lp -d PR0 could be changed to: (cat - ; echo ^L) | lp -d PR0 This would send a TOF after every job George -Original Message- From: u2-users-boun...@listserver.u2ug.org [mailto:u2-users- boun...@listserver.u2ug.org] On Behalf Of Bill Brutzman Sent: Friday, November 05, 2010 11:54 AM To: U2 Users List Subject: [U2] GreenBar End-Of-Job Eject We recently did a fresh install of UV 10.3.6. Re: [U2] GreenBar End-Of-Job Eject
[Ad] If you send your greenbar reports through Print Wizard, it will do that task automatically. It will also make sure your text fits on the page, by analyzing and auto-sizing it. And it will work on every printer out there. On Fri, 5 Nov 2010, Bill Brutzman wrote: We recently did a fresh install of UV 10.3.6. [U2] UniVerse On RedHat?
0. We are considering migrating from HP-Ux to RedHat. 1. How is RedHat? 2. Will I have to re-compile and re-catalog everything? 3. Did anyone migrate from HP-Ux to RedHat and then back to HP-Ux? 4. Is the RedHat Standard Edition Suitable? 5. Did anyone try running UV on RedHat on an HP Integritity (Itanium) server? 6. Are there any gotchas? 7. Did anyone try running UV on RedHat on an HP Integritity (Itanium) server? No. Is Itanium x86-compatible? I'm not sure it is ... so you may find you cannot get a version of UV to run on Itanium. As mentioned elsewhere check the compatibility matrix. Oh - and if HP-Ux and Itanium run on same-endian hardware, then you shouldn't need any conversion utilities - it's quite *possible* (not certain, but very likely) that just copying both UV and your accounts, then re-installing the correct version of UV over the copied version, will result in a working system. Suck it and see. 6. Are there any gotchas? Shell scripts may have to be modified...echo will likely work a little differently. 7. Re: [U2] UniVerse On RedHat?
I've never moved UV from HP-Ux to Red Hat but I have worked on both. We went from a Sun Risc system to Red Hat on Intel and, like Drew said, you would have to do recompiling of programs and I-descriptors, and either uvbackup/uvrestore or fnuxi the files. If you use any operating system scripts or programs those will have to be checked for differences. The spooler should work pretty much the same. I did our conversion on a Saturday morning. Moving from a 'nix system to Windows was not as easy.
