[U2] Last ran/compiled a program

2013-04-08 Thread Amy Raisanen
Is there anything built in to UV that contains when/who last compiled a
program or maybe even when/who last ran it? Is anyone creating a log of
this information?

I'm running 11.1.9 UV on Windows with SB+.

Thanks,

Amy Raisanen

[U2] U2 Replication on Universe

2011-11-11 Thread Amy Raisanen
Anyone have experience or insight on upgrading on Universe on Windows
from 10.2.10 to 11.1.1 and/or implementing replication on Windows?

I realize there are alerts on this release, is there any word when the
next possibly more stable release maybe be available for Windows? Would
it be worth waiting and just upgrade to 10.3.12 for now?

Re: [U2] UniVerse Admin Tool for Window

2009-06-10 Thread Amy Raisanen

I had the same issue happen. I had upgraded Universe to 10.2.10 on Windows
then installed UniAdmin. None of the locks or users showed in Uniadmin, when I
contacted support on the issue they suggested I back down a version of
Uniadmin. I think the bad version was either 1.3.6 or 1.3.7. We did back down
a version to get the functionality back but have since upgraded to 1.3.8 and
those now things work fine.

I thought the same thing for a long time, but everything else works,
everything in that tool, Accounts, Backup, Config Editor, Data Sources... etc.
The only two things that do not seem to get good data from (I'm assuming the uv
RPC?) is the Users and Locks modules of the tool. My tool's version is
UniAdmin 1.3.6, and I haven't seen it mentioned as NOT working on 2008 in any
tools, or any bug reports, that's why I was hoping the User Group might know.
On top of this, we had calls in before we decided to do the install from our
IBM rep and he was told to go ahead and do it, it should all work. So far it
all has, and I've been more than happy, for a 99% Microsoft guy this makes me
shut my mouth ;) So far it's been a dream to run, so it's more just an
annoyance then a real bug in my book to not have that GUI version of the Admin
tool running. Was just hoping one of the list gurus had perhaps seen this
issue come up before ;)

Hi John,

Is UV 10.2 certified for Windows 2008 server? I know it is for Windows 2003
(and the admin tool works on that version), but that is a slightly different
technology. We have not gone the Win2008 route here yet so I can't help you,
but am wondering whether that might be your problem.

Subject: [U2] UniVerse Admin Tool for Window

Hello everyone,

I'm having an issue with a recent install of UniVerse 10.2 on Windows.
The Admin Tool the system had in the past was on NT 4.0, and worked great but
was very slow. The new install is on Windows 2008 Server, and the Admin tool
is now the IBM version, it loads, it authenticate but displays zero users
connected, so I cannot use that tool to administer the server. The tool old
version of the tool gave you a gui display of what is basically LISTU, and a
way to right click and disconnect user sessions that had issues, List.Locks,
etc. All the uv commands via Telnet/Dynamic Connect work fine, in fact I'm
loving UniVerse (don't let Microsoft hear that *crosses fingers*).

Anyway, I had a work around for a while, where one of my workstations
had the Old Ardent/Informix version running (vmuvadm.exe) and that actually
queried the new server correctly and displayed all my users, locks etc. The
new Java version is not working at all, it's just blank. Everything else on
the Server seems to work and has been for about 6 months.

Does anyone have any ideas, or have you run into something Similar?

Thank you for your time,
-

RE: [U2] Delete files on secondary server before restore

2009-04-01 Thread Amy Raisanen
I tried it out this morning, works great!
Thank you for your help John!

The following command saved in a .bat file should do it:

 rmdir /S D:\UVDir

That will remove the directory and all subdirectories and files. You
could add the uvrestore command immediately following that line to
insure the deletion gets completed first.

 -John

By D:\UVDir, I mean whatever directory or directories you've put your
data in (in UV terms, the user accounts), not the UV installation
directory. I just made the assumption that drive C: is probably your OS
partition, and drive D: is probably your data storage partition, but
this certainly may not be the case. You definitely don't want to remove
the UV installation files, or any other OS files. Only remove the UV
data that you're going to be restoring. If you have multiple accounts,
you might have to execute multiple rmdir commands, or you could use a
wildcard if they're all at the same level (eg: rmdir /S D:\UVDirs\*).

We don't run UV on Windows, but I use the linux equivalent, rm -rf, on
a nightly basis to remove our development account prior to refreshing it
with live data. I assure you, it is that easy.

RE: [U2] Delete files on secondary server before restore

2009-03-31 Thread Amy Raisanen
Do you use this? It doesn't seem like it can be that easy. Wouldn't
this delete too much information? The licensing/configuration on the
secondary server is different than on the primary. Do you exclude these
directories some how?

Amy Raisanen

[snip]

recommendation is to write a script to just delete everything from
Universe 2 before I do the restore. Do any of you have this sort of
script that I could start from or other ways of going about this?

We have a primary and secondary Universe server. Daily we run a backup
of Universe 1 and restore it onto our Universe 2 server, in addition we
run transaction logging. I've noticed from looking at the file view
from windows there are many more files on Universe 2 than Universe 1.
This must be happening because we delete a file from U1 and it never
deletes from U2.

I also noticed that if I login to U2, then within an account that gets
restored, create a record that does not exist on U1, then perform a
restore onto U2, and find new file I just created still exists even
after the restore.

How have any of you dealt with these issues? Our primary goal is that
on a daily basis our U2 server is an exact replica of U1. An IBM tech's
recommendation is to write a script to just delete everything from
Universe 2 before I do the restore. Do any of you have this sort of
script that I could start from or other ways of going about this?

[U2] Print to PDF

2008-08-19 Thread Amy Raisanen
We just got started building a web application and got stumped trying to
create a pdf with the information the user has already provided us. How
do we create a pdf and also create an auto filled pdf application/form?
Are we going to need to purchase software?

Universe 10.2.10, PICK

Any direction would be helpful! Thank you in advance!

[U2] Execute Windows Script

2008-01-24 Thread Amy Raisanen
My goal is to run a Universe program that creates a Windows batch file
and then executes it. I create the batch file using WRITESEQ and that
works great, but how can I execute that windows batch file from within
my program? I've tried using the EXECUTE = DOS call batchfile.bat
but, that just opens up DOS in TCL and ends my program.
