RE: [U2] Too many users
Anyone have any ideas about how to do something similar for Unidata running on Windows? Is there a utility out there that monitors this? This can often be an issue and one solution is to log off idle users. There are many ways to do this but one we wrote (and sell ;-) is called LOGMON. This software takes a different approach than other methods. It monitors the cpu time of each user, and their child processes. That way we can be really sure that they are idle. Other approaches just look at keyboard activity, and can log off a user running a long job with no keyboard usage. LOGMON lets you vary the inactivity time by user, time of day, etc. You can customize how it logs users off, and since it runs at the Unix level it can handle other users than your Universe/Unidata users. Hi Dennis, Replies embedded below... [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote on 11/02/2008 10:54:07: > > (1) I have too many users + phantoms logging on and we have run out of > licences. Is there a utility out there that monitors this? uvlictool [-clean] I think you need to be superuser to use the -clean option which gives back licenses that should be free but are not. > > (2) Is there a repository anywhere where I can source the course notes for > the Universe internals courses? not as far as I know. > > (3) How do I get UniAdmin to work - it says the RPC is not running - where > do I source this, and how do I install it? > There is an option in the Admin menu that you get when you logto the UV account. It is in the Package menu. You need to make sure that there is a .unishared file in the root directory that points to a directory somewhere. I believe there also needs to be an entry in your /etc/service file for the uvrpc service. You can also start up the RPC daemon manually and in debug mode. The output from the logfile is very useful in tracking down problems. The command is unirpcd -d9. You can add a >logfile to generate a file rather than outputting the messages to a screean and &'s to run it in background hth HSBC Bank plc may be solicited in the course of its placement efforts for a new issue, by investment clients of the firm for whom the Bank as a firm already provides other services. [U2] Too many users
Hi As stated before I'm the proud owner of a UniVerse Admin course certificate, but I cannot remember how to do most of it (spent a few years out the MV arena)... So.. (1) I have too many users + phantoms logging on and we have run out of licences. Is there a utility out there that monitors this? (2) Is there a repository anywhere where I can source the course notes for the Universe internals courses? (3) How do I get UniAdmin to work - it says the RPC is not running - where do I source this, and how do I install it?
