Re: [U2] [UV] Tandem for UV 10.2 NT--CR not working?

2007-04-09 Thread TPellitieri
Gabriel Green [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote on Sat, 7 Apr 2007 08:06:56

We use TANDEM a lot ... when I hit Enter or Return it doesn't
transmit that character--I have to have my user press it on his
 or her keyboard ...

On certain terminals/emulations, some keystrokes are transmitted as
multi-character sequences. On UniData, the Esc character has to be
doubled to send it through a TANDEM session. For example, on our system,
Page Up is sent as Esc+something. I have to press EscPage Up to get
it through.

I wouldn't expect this with the Return key, but it's possible. I would
try the EscEnter sequence to see if it works. Otherwise, I would
check the documentation on the TANDEM command for UniVerse to see if, for
example, control characters need special treatment.

We also use System Builder here, and Esc is the normal close screen
without saving. Fortunately, Ctrl+X does the same thing, so I don't have
to pound on my Esc key too much during tandem sessions.

[U2] LIST.READU

2007-04-09 Thread Barry Rogen
Environment: HP-UX 11.23 Itanium

UniVerse 10.1.24
(This is a new system and version of UV for us)

Issue: When you are NOT superuser, LIST.READU shows only locks you
personally have locked but will not show the PID or login of any other
lock being set.

I am sure it is a permissions situation, but for the life of me
I can not find what is not getting executed to produce a full listing.
As superuser - no problems.

Any insight would be most greatly appreciated.

My transactions logs are not getting reused. In fact the reuse file does
not get, and has it ever been, updated.

It does not matter if I release full logs from the UniAdmin counsel or
run the RELEASE.LFILE command from DOS.

I have tried with and without shutting down the Universe Daemon.

Environment: HP-UX 11.23 Itanium

UniVerse 10.1.24
(This is a new system and version of UV for us)

Issue: When you are NOT superuser, LIST.READU shows only locks you
personally have locked but will not show the PID or login of any other
lock being set.

Yeah, Read The Fine Manual. It's basically what I suggested to her back on
the 29th.

accepting contracts for work they don't know how to do, then asking list

RE: [U2] list files

2007-04-09 Thread Bob Woodward
I'm like almost every one else on this list. I don't mind sharing my
knowledge with anyone, regardless of who they are, but when we start
getting into things that are so plainly documented and the documents are
even on-line, that's when I start figuring enough is enough. Show that
you've made the attempt to find the answer and you're not just being
lazy and taking advantage of all the good folks here, and I'll bend over
backwards to help someone out.

But that's just me and my jaded perspective. Lash me with a wet noodle
if that'll help you out!

Oh, and these comments are my own and nobody else's so don't be bugging
anyone. 'Kay?

Exactly - I am always amazed by all the people who want to help those
who are transferring programming jobs to India. Have you noticed that you
don't get any help comming from the outsourcing sites.
