Hi Steve -
No question the 2-pack was poor decision.  This was never designed
for retail, but can definitely see it looks like it with the
packaging.  The 2-pack was due to many using for quick ptp links
with their WISP.  Had a lot of request for selling as singles or
2-pack for this purpose.  The 5-pack should never have been
dropped and as mentioned here is shipping again.
We have a ton in development for the WISP community and looking
forward to it.

Looking at the graphs, this sector is hitting 25 meg frequently,
but there is about 60-70 meg of channel available, we are running
in 20 MHz.  Prior to this, we could only sell people our $30-$50
packages and they complained about the speed.  I see our one last
UBNT 900 top out at 6-8 meg every night with about the same number
of people on it.  We are buying a couple of SM’s a month and when
we get enough for all the customers will do a quick change out of
the tower and customers to the PMP gear.

Overall experience with the PMP 900 is really good.  We tried it
in 10 MHz and it worked great then thought why not try 20 MHz and
it still did great.  We have a lot of frequency hopping electric
meters and gas wells in our area.  I think placement is a big
thing too.  I would not put this gear on a water tower next to the
major highway.  Not saying it would not work, but the if you can
see the horizon, then the frequency can hear the horizon.  We use
this gear is a bowl of hills and trees.  In fact we did not even
mount it way above the trees.  It is only 20 feet above the trees
with down tilt.  Our furthest customer through what we consider
thick trees in north Texas is about ½ mile.  We do have some
customers a little over a mile away as well that could not get a
clean LOS to the same tower.  The gear is a real learning
experience and not terribly friendly to work with.  That being
said, if a customer calls in and is experience issues, we do not
even ask them to reboot the PMP SM.  We start with their router
and 95% of the time this resolves their issue.

uncommon for companies to charge a higher installation fee or
slightly higher rates when using NLOS equipment.  The
additional cost must be absorbed by the company or passed on
to the consumer.  There are a number of wonderful lease to own

them at Wispapolooza last year, there does not sound like any
upgrades are coming for the 900 or 3.65.  We have deployed
Cambium PMP gear in both frequencies and are glad to spend the
money.  It is a real jump in quality.  Now would I deploy

$1*.035 = $350 month for 60 months. (and that is a VERY
expensive lease).
10 customers at $70 = $700/month. $350 profit off the jump.
Acceptable, but not 'juicy'. :)
20 customers at $70  = $1400/month (per sector) = $1000 profit per
month (per sector). Now we're talking.
We have hundreds of no-go site surveys that might work with 900 if
we can beat the interference from CPS Energy.
Get better lease terms and profit goes up.
Charge an installation fee to cover some of your upfront costs as
well. $199 seems reasonable if no other service is available.
Add in a managed router service (or anything you can think of to
drive ARPU up).
Now your upfront for 20 customers = $4000 for radios and $6000 for
sector with backup. (you only need ONE backup BTW)
Second sector is only $7K for 20 customers.
And the beat goes on.
$350/month for lease payment vs $1400 for incoming cash flow. I'd
make that deal every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
But that's just me. :)
YMMV.

Hey UniFi Users,

For those of you who hadn't seen yet, we're adding two smaller
switches to
the UniFi lineup:

1. US-8. PoE powered with PoE pass through.
2. US-8-60W. 4x 802.3af PoE ports.

If you're interested in trying these out before they're officially
out,
feel free to sign up for Beta and buy them from our Beta-only store at
store.ubnt.com/beta - starting later
this week.

Cheers,

Hi all,

I've got several links setup with the new Litebeam 120 sector APs
and the
Litebeam AC CPEs. One of the links I have shows extremely poor
transmit
numbers when I run a speed test, but it always shows slow transmit
problems
depending on which end of the link I'm on. Here's the link

Tower w/Litebeam AP 120  --> Litebeam CPE on shed <-- Shed -->
Litebeam

120 mounted back-to-back with CPE --> Another Litebeam CPE on a
client's
house.

The Tower->Shed link is about 2.5 miles LOS and sits at about -56
on both
Chain 0/1, the Shed->House link is less than 1/4 mile and it's
also LOS
with about a -42 signal on both chains. All devices are running
8.0-beta19, which has been otherwise pretty solid as far as I can
tell.

If I login to the AP at the tower, I get approximately 6Mbps RX,
0.75Mbps
to the house CPE. If I login to the house CPE, I get the same
thing (6Mbps
RX, 0.75Mbps TX) to the AP. If I login to the edgerouter in the
shed which
bridges the two wireless connections, I get much better results,
roughly
25-35Mbps each way.

Has anyone else seen this? I worried the short link was too hot
at -42, so
I've temporarily turned on the auto power control to see if it
helps. So
far it has reduced the power, but hasn't seemed to help the end-to-end
speeds.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Telescoping Pole

Older model DJI-550 Fire Wheel is what I use.

Got a 72-75MHz radio controller (R/C aircraft type) instead of a
2.4/5.8GHz setup so that my control channel doesn't interfere with the
survey.

I stripped all the plastic off of an M5, M365 and an M2 Nanostation and
use them for the survey.

We have a stripped Bullet 2 and a stripped Bullet 5 to do the testing

Works well.

IME, bandpass filters are useful in 900MHz, if you are close to a pager
tower. Around here, those are on 930MHz or so and very hot.

But if you want to co-locate a couple 900MHz UBNT AP's, I think channel
filters are the way to go... If I can find any.

These work well outdoors...

http://www.l-com.com/bandpass-filter-rf-splitter-24-ghz-outdoor-8-pole-ultra-high-q-wifi-band-pass-filters

I use 1,6,11. Two per Dual Polarity sector or omni.

With KP sectors, these filters and putting the rocket in a metal box, I
get enough isolation to run 3 120 sectors on the same tower at the same
elevation.

I never found any channel filters for 900MHz. Plenty of Bandpass

The list posted earlier in the thread is a possibility, though.

[Ubnt_users] AirVision and AirCams

2014-12-15 Thread Blair Davis
I have a bunch of AirCams running 1.1.5 firmware. Due to the fact that
they have some custom code pushing a .jpg file, (still image), to a
webserver once a minuet, I don't want their firmware updated or
changed. You can see their pictures at www.wmwisp.net/cams

Now, I want some extra capabilitys that AirVision should be able to
supply... I want motion triggered recording and a seek capability.

What is the latest version of AirVision that can use the cameras with
1.1.5 on them and not update them?

Thanks...

they have some custom code pushing a .jpg file, (still image), to a
webserver once a minuet, I don't want their firmware updated or
changed. You can see their pictures at www.wmwisp.net/cams
http://www.wmwisp.net/cams

Now, I want some extra capabilitys that AirVision should be able to
supply... I want motion triggered recording and a seek capability.

What is the latest version of AirVision that can use the cameras with
1.1.5 on them and not update them?

Thanks...

So, will the 2G AC AP's be compatable with 2G M clients?

Or is it a forklift style upgrade?
