[Bug 50076] my screen will 'black out' if left unattended even though that option is disabled
Public bug reported: i am using dapper drake. i have the power management set to never dim or blank the screen. everything is set to: do nothing, never or 100% the computer screen will go black within 20 minutes (and is not over ridden by any other program (eg. dvd player)) if i toggle the power management settings but then put them back as they were the screen will stop going black after 20 minutes and then will only do after a number of hours (and the dvd player seems to over-rid the 'black setting') if i restart the computer the 'black settings' return and i have to pretend to adjust the power management settings. the only way that i have found to shake it out of this 'black setting' is to FnF6 or FnF7 (which are hotkeys to toggle the monitor brightness) moving the mouse or hitting other keys to not wake it up. bradley ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- my screen will 'black out' if left unattended even though that option is disabled https://launchpad.net/bugs/50076 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 50091] kubuntu multiple desktop configuration confusion
Public bug reported: In Kubuntu Dapper, there is a problem in the configuration of multiple desktops. It's a UI confusion issue rather than a real but, but something that needs to be addressed anyway. Basically, there are two places to change the multiple desktop configurations when they should be in the same place. By right clicking the desktop and going to the multiple desktops tab, it's possible to configure the number of multiple desktops and to enable desktop switching with the mouse wheel. But to configure edge flipping (essentially a part of multiple desktops), one needs to go to Control Center - Desktop - Window Behaviour - Advanced. Until I found the latter, I thought that my beloved edge flip wasn't supported. So, I'd like to request that all multiple desktop configuration be in one place, or at least make it easy to navigate from one to the other. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- kubuntu multiple desktop configuration confusion https://launchpad.net/bugs/50091 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 41787] Re: nppdf.so: undefined symbol: XtCalloc
Version 7.0.8 is out now. I have confirmed (based on reports originally posted in the forums; e.g. on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=187973) that if you download the Linux version of Adobe Reader from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html and extract nppdf.so and use it to replace the one installed by the mozilla-acroread package (/usr/lib/Adobe/Acrobat7.0/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so), PDFs work inside Firefox again. FWIW, until an upgraded DEB is available to Dapper users (e.g. through backports), I have made a tar.gz (~2 MB) from that file so people don't have to download the entire 7.0.8 archive from Adobe (~40 MB) http://members.shaw.ca/Limulus/files/nppdf.so.tar.gz -- nppdf.so: undefined symbol: XtCalloc https://launchpad.net/bugs/41787 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 46422] Re: Wrong directory for libTix8.4
I too, confirm this Bug. The way to manually fix it is to create soft links to libTix8.X.X.so and libTix8.X.X.so.1 in /usr/lib/Tix8.4/ that point to the respective libraries in /usr/lib/libTix8.X.X.so and .../libTix8.X.X.so.1 -- But that might not be the right way to fix it. In dapper it seems that the tix package is not dependent on python or python-tk. In other words tix and tix-dev could be removed while python would still retain the wrappers for tix The path was working before in breezy, I remember using Tix to construct widgets with Python! But I am not sure what changed since then. Suggestion: Fix the library path and make tix co-dependent with/to python, in other words it should be always installed if python (especially Tkinter) is installed. [Bug 50097] Wrong firmware for acx111-wlan card
Public bug reported: I've got a laptop with a PCMCIA wlan card. The name is Buffalo G54, but they have released several models under this name. The model is WLI-CB- G54L and it's based on the acx111 chipset. With the default firmware the power light lights up, but the link light (which should blink each time a packet is sent/received) never blinks. The card came with a cd with the firmware. It is a single file with the md5sum of fcd07de4b25e1d2aaf3b78b27c5b7ee9 which is the same as for the file in acx/1.2.1.34/tiacx111c16 and with this firmware, the card works as it should. On 2006-05-09 at 21:37, Lucas Nussbaum wrote: So the question is : what's Z39.50, and why should we include support for it in the package ? Z39.50 is an old protocol for searching and retrieving information from remote databases. It's important because it's the standard used by major libraries--so while Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc use web services, people like the British Library and Library of Congress still mainly use Z39.50 Support for Z39.50 in Alexandria is important for anybody who wants to retrieve accurate bibliographic data for older books, which won't show up on the Amazon and Barnes and Noble databases. I work on late-19th and early-20th-century literature, for example, and about half the books in my library are pre-ISBN. I'd like to catalogue them accurately using my British Library logon, and according to sections 8.2.3 and 8.2.5 of the Alexandria manual (V0.0.7) I can do this. [Bug 39862] Re: [sky2] Marvell ethernet interface doesn' t work after reboot
The original problem I reported is half-resolved with kernel 2.6.15-25 (386 and 686) and sky2 driver version 1.4. After rebooting Ubuntu, the interface works fine. However, the interface doesn't work with a warm boot of Windows XP after shutting down Ubuntu. Of course, it could be argued this is a problem with Windows, but fair's fair: the problem doesn't happen in reverse, i.e., the interface works with a wam boot of Ubuntu after shutting down Windows. -- [sky2] Marvell ethernet interface doesn' t work after reboot https://launchpad.net/bugs/39862 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I think the problem resides in the i810 driver. It seems i'm unable to view dvd's with totem (just dvd's) when the dualscreen is activated .. while it does work when I'm not using that dualscreen setup. (I use another config-file when I don't need the dualscreen setup, since ubuntu is unable to detect whether the screen is attached to my laptop or not.) Closes: #366450 Thanks Christian Perrier * debian/control: Bump Standards-Version: 3.7.2, no changes are needed. * debian/control: As told by lintian, replace Build-Depends-Indep: debhelper by Build-Depends: debhelper because debhelper programs are run by the clean target. -- Denis Barbier [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat, 13 May 2006 01:49:05 +0200 intltool-debian (0.34.2+20060415) unstable; urgency=low * intltool-update: This program called /usr/bin/file to determine file encoding. It is useless in intltool-debian, so this call is dropped indtead of adding an unnecessary dependency. Closes: #362814 Thanks Marc Haber -- Denis Barbier [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat, 15 Apr 2006 22:56:35 +0200 intltool-debian (0.34.2+20060322) unstable; urgency=low * intltool-merge: Under some special circumstances, an English field composed of several paragraphs may contain an empty string. Of course this empty string has no translation, and thus the whole paragraph is untranslated. A better approach is to assume that an empty string has an empty translation. Closes: #357948 Thanks Colin Watson * Update to intltool 0.34.2; there is no change in handling of RFC822 files. -- Denis Barbier [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tue, 28 Mar 2006 23:38:30 +0200 intltool-debian (0.34.1+20060220) unstable; urgency=low * intltool-merge: Do not reformat translated templates. This will produce very long lines, but this is already the case with locale or keyboard choosers, so there should be no problem with (c)debconf. * intltool-merge: Comments are now properly discarded. * Comments in the form '#flag:' are interpreted by intltool-extract and intltool-merge. They are helpful when a translatable field is composed of several strings. Recognized keywords are: - #flag:translate: Write only the specified strings into PO files. - #flag:comment: Comments can be defined for each individual string. - #flag:partial: This flag prints translated strings even if they are not fully translated. * See full documentation in po-debconf(7). * Slightly modify intltool-merge and intltool-extract so that inner routines are more similar and thus less error prone. * Add intltool authors into debian/copyright. -- Denis Barbier [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed, 15 Mar 2006 21:44:03 +0100 -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Debian Powered! iD8DBQFElATmmAg1RJRTSKQRArcwAJ9q0097xRTfk26n65cj8DE9VSiVKwCfdf3S WaU9Bn7UZGE+T+UTqK7FZFE= =shsW -END PGP SIGNATURE- ** Affects: intltool-debian (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Confirmed -- Please sync intltool-debian (main) from unstable https://launchpad.net/bugs/50106 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I am refering to the text's like keyboard label, progressbar label which are popping up virtually everywhere... ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Menus and Progressbar display labels in front of shortcut key signatures and percentages https://launchpad.net/bugs/50107 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 47387] Re: [Bug 47387] Re: Cups not working in dapper
Sorry, I was a little slow... You have removed the updated cupsys package from your directory, so I can't confirm that they fix the Phaser 8400 problem. I checked that the available drivers in dapper release are still the original ones, i.e. cupsys_1.2.0-0ubuntu5_i386.deb Can I find them at some other place?
