[Bug 62685] Re: [Edgy regression] Hostap driver for PRISM2 wifi card not working any more

2006-10-20 Thread 2hansen
I just upgraded from Dapper to Edgy yesterday - and after reboot my wlan
(prism2 card) was not working. However blacklisting orinoco_pci and
prism2_pci in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist seems to do the work for me -
but an automatic solution would be preferable.

[Bug 67069] X.org doesn't start on boot

2006-10-20 Thread Dan Roberts
Public bug reported:

I upgraded from Dapper. (Had trouble regarding the x11-common package)
And now when I boot my computer, i get a plain old tty-looking boot
proccess, and instead of X.org starting, I get dumped to a virtual
terminal, from there I can login and startx just fine, but I shouldn't
have to. I don't know if gdm is failing to start, or what.

I have marked bug #1027 as a duplicate of this one.
Bug #1027 have some comments on the choice of building with Lesstif or
OpenMotif. I know almost nothing, but I was under the feeling that when Ctrl-C
is pressed, nedit window is sometimes loosing focus when compiled with Lesstif.

[Bug 60995] Re: The backspace key pages up instead of going back in history

2006-10-20 Thread Arwyn Hainsworth
I think you've got it the other way round Jan, the avarage user will
benefit from the backspace = pageup and it's the hardcore unix users
that are currently complaining.

You avarage user doesn't use keyboard shortcuts, they use the mouse to
click the back button and so they won't notice the change that much. In
fact the only time they really notice the shortcut is when their form
window accidentaly loses focus and they loose their form data because
the browser decided to go back a page.

On reading the firefox bug report you'll find that this was done for
better platform (every other app does a page-up) consistancy, so once
again this is a feature, not a bug. Live with it.

[Bug 64264] Re: Editing the menu doesn't update correctly after changes

2006-10-20 Thread Pete Ryland
And here is another patch, which fixes the handling of .desktop files
with a space in their name (amongst other uri-encodable characters).
The problem was that gnomvfs converts spaces to %20 encoding. I've
fixed this by using gnomevfs's helper functions to do the encoding and
decoding.

gradually fade out I realised it was a bug.

[Bug 2541] Re: bad utf8 support in valknut

2006-10-20 Thread Paul Dufresne
I am, after much hesitation, closing this bug because it is old, no one
have confirmed it, and I tend to see it as a wish valknut would support
UTF-8, and that I doubt the undelying direct connect allows it.

But feel free to reopen it if you can confirm on Edgy, or think I am

[Bug 67075] Edgy RC 1 - Boots to a black screen

2006-10-20 Thread ctsdownloads
Public bug reported:

Well, much like Edgy Beta, Edgy RC 1 produces a black screen when
booting off of the CD.

I am able to get to the loading/splash screen, but after that - nothing.

I am running an ASUS board, AMD64 processor and a NVIDIA 6600GT AGP
card. I also have two monitors attached on the same single video card,
was using twin view in Dapper without any issues. But with Edgy,
nothing

Forgot to mention: The screen boots black in all graphic modes,
including safe mode.

[Bug 66926] Re: Default host unconfigured after LAMP installation

2006-10-20 Thread Adam Conrad
This was intentional, as the redirect to /apache2-default/ appeared to
confuse the heck out of users when they went to edit their website
(which should be in /var/www)

Having the default site in a subdirectory (because we really
can't/shouldn't install and overwrite an index.html in /var/www) is
really the best compromise here. It allows people to see the default
start page with a single click, not confuse them with a config directive
that causes mass bug filings, and not take ownership of
/var/www/index.html

I've got a Sony Vaio FS285M (European code for FS660W) and my girlfriend
has a Sony Vaio FJ1S (European code for FJ170).

In both sonypi is loaded but isn't needed. I've read that new Vaios
doesn't have the special controller (chip) that uses sonypi, they have
all through ACPI and only is needed sony-acpi module (FN goes through
ACPI and keyboard). This is applicable at least to FS and FJ series.

[Bug 67081] guidance-power-manager thinks battery is low way too early

2006-10-20 Thread Duncan Sands
Public bug reported:

When running on battery power, guidance-power-manager warns that the battery is
getting
low when it is still 95% charged! Worse, it forces hibernation when the
battery still has
plenty of capacity left. Maybe it is confused by the fact that the laptop
reports two battery
slots, though only one is physically present, i.e. it is only possible to have
one battery
plugged in. klaptop didn't have this problem. I took a snapshot of /proc/acpi
after the
guidance-power-manager warning. Here's what was in /proc/acpi/battery:
