[Bug 47181] Re: broken localisation support
Hi, I cannot help in adept not using translations, but I can help in fixing anything in Rosetta that is wrong. From the adept source code, I can see this list of templates: adept.pot adept_installer.pot adept_notifier.pot adept_updater.pot libept.pot adept_batch.pot libadept.pot In Dapper and Edgy, last two templates aren't imported (well, libadept is, but we disabled it so it doesn't appear in the list of available resources to translate). That usually means that we didn't find it in the source package after the compilation. That should be reviewed by an Ubuntu/Kubuntu developer. About libadept vs. libept, in Rosetta, we can rename libept to libadept if the name changed, but, If you know well, the layout used by adept and how it should be, help us to improve what we have imported in Rosetta, or just confirm that what we have right now is correct. [Bug 75342] After resuming from suspend, can't start any programs
Public bug reported: Sometimes (maybe 20% of times) when resuming from suspend-to-RAM, I cannot start any more programs from within my current desktop session. This applies to using the menu on gnome-panel, but also when using my Start a terminal keyboard shortcut (metacity's responsibility, I think). I get a busy mouse pointer, but the program never starts up. This applies equally to all applications, including the log-off dialog: to log off I have to use ctrl+alt+backspace. I can, however, start a program by switching to another VT, logging in, doing export DISPLAY=:0.0 and running it from there. Further, if I start a terminal this way then that terminal's children are fine too. This is not happening only with GUI applications. If I have gnome- terminal already open when I resume, then I can't run vim inside it, it hangs while trying to start. I will attach the output of strace vim from this situation, as an example. The only workaround I've found so far is to ctrl+alt+backspace and then log in again, after which everything is fine (but of course I've lost my session). ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- After resuming from suspend, can't start any programs https://launchpad.net/bugs/75342 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Ok, there definitely is some kind of bug here... not sure if it's alsa or gstreamer though. I wonder which volume should've been chosen instead of headphone... PCM? [Bug 75347] if-up.d script steps time
Public bug reported: The clock of one of my routers running Dapper had bogus time (something that ntpd was slowly but steadily working on). Then I added an interface and boom! the time was stepped. OSPF went into an retarded state, loosing random routes and everything was going crazy. After the ordeal was over I found the /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate script, where time is stepped _every_ time interfaces go up/down. This is probably okay on a laptop or something, but it's madness to do so on a server. I sure know OSPF isn't the only service that gets really confused when the clock leaps. There's actually a reason why the manual page of ntpdate says the following about the -b option: «This option should be used when called from a startup file at boot time.» I've now deinstalled ntpdate (it served no purpose anyway since I have ntpd), but really, this package should not be part of the default server installation with this behaviour.
