[Bug 118510] network profiles problem
Public bug reported: On my laptop I have wifi, wired and modem. I don't use the modem and it's not configured. I have 2 network profiles in network-admin: home: eth1 (wifi) - off, eth0 (wired) - 172.16.100.2/16 office: eth1 (wifi) - off, eth0 (wired) - 172.16.100.2/16 Actually, only DNS server is defferent. And I have my wifi turned off with hard switch. The problem: If I set up home profile and then reboot, ifconfig shows that both interfaces: eth0 AND eth1 are active, however, network-admin shows that only eth0 is active. If I set up office profile and then reboot, ifconfig still shows that both interfaces are active and even more, gkrellm also thinks that I have them both active (note that that's only for office profile case, not home). First all thanks much for your reply. Yes indeed both settings are in the Sessions menu, but on different tabs, that's why it's perhaps a bit confusing. Either way I've listed the directory you suggested: $ ls ~/.config/autostart beagled.desktop Apparently there's only that file. Now I will try again adding (first screenshot) two new startup programs, Gaim and Firestarter (second screenshot). Ok, so I've closed the dialog then listed the autostart folder again: $ ls ~/.config/autostart beagled.desktop Again just that file. Nothing changed. Re: [Bug 50238] Re: pstoraster segfaults
Not installable on Feisty with scribus-ng installed, due to dependency problems: it installs only libgs-dev and libgs-esp-dev and then refuses to install ghostscript. [Bug 103025] Re: (Feisty) VLC sound quality is poor for many video files
I would just like to add that the hw:0,0 ALSA device or the OSS output module both do fix the crackling problem but unfortunately it's only a partial solution. When using either of these solutions you can only have sound in only one application at the time. What I mean by that is when you play a media file in VLC and open another one in a new VLC window or a different app (Firefox for example) there won't be any sound. You first have to close the original VLC window to get any sound back. This has been discussed on the forums and it seems everyone has this problem. Seems like the only real solution for now is to turn down the default volume in VLC although this is far from ideal. To be honest I don't really understand why this bug's importance isn't set to high :), it makes VLC as a media player unusable imo. -- (Feisty) VLC sound quality is poor for many video files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/103025 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 118395] Re: files /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log, and /var/log/partiman
Hi James, thanks for taking the time to report this issue. However, it's not quite clear what has happened. To follow up this issue it would help if you could supply more information on what you were doing when the crash occurred. Based on the traceback am I right in assuming that you were trying to install Kubuntu 7.04 (feisty) and the installer crashed at some stage? Could you clarify what steps you used to produce this crash, i.e. did you use the graphical installer (it looks like you did) or the alternate CD, what partitioning method did you use? What stage did the install get to before it crashed? Finally, the title of the bug refers to the exact log files we would need to diagnose the problem. It would help if you could attach those files, specifically /var/log/installer/syslog and /var/log/installer/partman. Sorry for all the questions, just trying to diagnose the problem cleanly.
