[Bug 70925] Re: Utopia fonts missing

2007-06-03 Thread Henri
However, I strongly suggest making a bugfix release now (adding 4 files
in /usr/share/texmf-texlive/fonts/type1/adobe/utopia is no big deal), as
the license has been cleared.

At the moment, the package is broken!

[Bug 118511] Import Saved Configuration should give error if file unreadable

2007-06-03 Thread gavinmc
Public bug reported:

If you have a config file saved but permissions do not allow you to read it and
you try to import it, the config just goes through the motions and no importing
happens.

It should really pop up an error saying you do not have permissions to
read that file or at least File cannot be read or something like
that.

[Bug 118510] network profiles problem

2007-06-03 Thread Darmit
Public bug reported:

On my laptop I have wifi, wired and modem. I don't use the modem and it's not
configured.
I have 2 network profiles in network-admin:
home: eth1 (wifi) - off, eth0 (wired) - 172.16.100.2/16
office: eth1 (wifi) - off, eth0 (wired) - 172.16.100.2/16

Actually, only DNS server is defferent. And I have my wifi turned off
with hard switch.

The problem:
If I set up home profile and then reboot, ifconfig shows that both
interfaces: eth0 AND eth1 are active, however, network-admin shows that only
eth0 is active.
If I set up office profile and then reboot, ifconfig still shows that both
interfaces are active and even more, gkrellm also thinks that I have them both
active
(note that that's only for office profile case, not home).

I'm running ubuntu feisty on IBM Z60m laptop.

Thank you for the debdiff. Please include a list of the remaining
Ubuntu changes in the changelog, and update the last entry to have your
name. The easiest means to accomplish this is with `dch -i` in the
package directory, although some manual editing may be useful. For a
good example of a merge changelog, take a look at the entry for
0.3.4.cvs.20050903-2.2ubuntu1. I have unsubscribed ubuntu-universe-

[Bug 118495] Re: Session does not persist after reboot

2007-06-03 Thread Nano
First all thanks much for your reply. Yes indeed both settings are in
the Sessions menu, but on different tabs, that's why it's perhaps a bit
confusing. Either way I've listed the directory you suggested:

$ ls ~/.config/autostart
beagled.desktop

Apparently there's only that file.

Now I will try again adding (first screenshot) two new startup programs, Gaim
and Firestarter (second screenshot).
Ok, so I've closed the dialog then listed the autostart folder again:

$ ls ~/.config/autostart
beagled.desktop

Again just that file. Nothing changed.
Finally if I open the Sessions menu again, the entries I've just created aren't
there.

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 118514] 12-hour clock type not functioning in Gnome panel of zh_CN locale

Public bug reported:

I'm using Ubuntu Feisty in zh_CN locale. The Gnome panel clock does

[Bug 29760] Re: Sound does not work properly in Flash in firefox

2007-06-03 Thread gavinmc
Flash sound has some problems on normal ubuntu but it's entirely
unusable on LTSP thin clients in ubuntu/edubuntu. However, by
installing the flashsupport packages, this very old, nasty problem can
be fixed by pointing flash at the pulseaudio.

  http://pulseaudio.vdbonline.net/libflashsupport/

It would be really great if this could be packaged in multiverse
alongside flashplugin-nonfree as a dependency or at least recommended.
This would be a big help for edubuntu.

[Bug 118503] Re: Firefox crashes on http://standaard.be

2007-06-03 Thread Roel Schroeven
I suppose you can close the bug: I created another user on my system. In
that account, firefox didn't crash. Back in my regular account, I
deleted ~/.mozilla/firefox. Firefox crashed again. I deleted the whole
~/.mozilla directory. That did the trick: firefox now works without
crashes.

Some file in that directory was corrupt, I guess. Unfortunately I didn't
make a copy of the directory before I deleted it, otherwise I would have
been able to see exactly what was wrong with it.

Wesnoth or fullscreen vmplayer). This one window is active, you can continue to
work within it (performance is bad though). Sometimes, when one act fast and
switch windows not long after 100% cpu usage starts, everything goes back to
normal after few seconds.
This bug is really troublesome.

[Bug 105157] Re: Partition software during install

2007-06-03 Thread Henrik Nilsen Omma
Hi Marcelo,

I agree that the partitioner could do with some graphics for improved
usability. I'll make this a wishlist item to reflect that.

** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided = Wishlist
   Status: Needs Info = Confirmed

** Summary changed:

- Partition software during install
+ RFE: use graphics elements to represent partitions and changes

** Description changed:

- The partition software for Ubuntu 7.04 install is not so user-friendly
- and intuitive like from gparted at last distro releases...
+ Gparted and PartitionMagic use graphical representations of existing and
+ new partitions. This may not be the exact way it should be done, but a
+ better visual representation will help many users deal better with the
+ partitioning step.

Thanks for your reply. Please provide us with the following information:

1. Make sure you have write access to your ~/.config/autostart/, e.g. by
$ touch ~/.config/autostart/test
$ rm ~/.config/autostart/test
(Check, if you get any errors)

2. Do you configuration by launching the session property manager by

[Bug 118515] lircd doesn't repeat key press with pinsys remote

2007-06-03 Thread Rodrigo Rivas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lirc

I'm using lirc with a Pinnacle infrared remote via a serial connection, and it
works quite well.
But I don't get the repeat codes, that is, if I keep a key down in the remote,
I get only the first
event, and then nothing until I release it.

The command line is this:
/usr/sbin/lircd --driver=pinsys --device=/dev/ttyS1

I have Ubuntu 7.04 for PC, and lirc 0.8.1+cvs20070310-ubuntu2.

I'm trying now if I can debug it ;-P

 What exactly do you need?

Information about what's actually causing the bug. You haven't answered
Darren's question if it also happen with the non-binary only drivers
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gxine/+bug/113716/comments/3).

Also, you could try to run gxine with -v, and give out the output of
that command. More insterestingly, does it also happen with 'xine-ui'
and/or other xine applications?

[Bug 118518] new computer session steps seen as new system download step

2007-06-03 Thread Laurie Kirk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

I returned to the computer to add this info: re: system interference: Five
years ago I tried to turn in a man who reportedly was a large-scale cocaine
dealer to Wilmington, NC police. Only name I could remember was 'Cotton' who
drove a green Jaguar and a big motorcycle. At the time he was dating the woman
who was one of the owners of The Rusty Nail, a local bar, the main spot for
local Blues and other local music folks; featured open mic sessions. When I
told police I said 'Cotton Nichols': WRONG!!! 'cOTTON nICHOLS was the name of
the Dallas County Alabama Sherrif who I think was a big white redneck guy.
blacks-oppressor in the Civil Rights era...footage of dogs and
billyclubs...stuff Selma, Alabama was the cliche for. Might be the cops thought
I was just making fun of them. The cocaine dealer was 'Cotton someone else. I
only knew him by sight and reputation.
I know by huge commentary might be tiresome. Sorry. Just trying to figure out
who all hates me. Looks like the numbers are legion.

2007-06-03 Thread Henrik Nilsen Omma
Hei Kjetil!
(I believe we know each other from astro.uio.no)

If you did a clean install using different settings then the crash and
log files will indeed be lost. If you'd like to help us track this down
you'd need to attempt the install again, retracing you steps and catch
the logs. You should be able to save them to a USB key or floppy if
available. A screen shot of the dialog just before the crash would also
be helpful. Thanks.

Re: [Bug 50238] Re: pstoraster segfaults

2007-06-03 Thread Graham White
Not installable on Feisty with scribus-ng installed, due to dependency
problems: it
installs only libgs-dev and libgs-esp-dev and then refuses to
install ghostscript. At that point the easiest way out seems to be
to do apt-get -f install, which then removes cupsys and a lot of other
stuff, and then reinstall all the stuff which cupsys took out.

[Bug 103025] Re: (Feisty) VLC sound quality is poor for many video files

2007-06-03 Thread Ebuntor
I would just like to add that the hw:0,0 ALSA device or the OSS output module
both do fix the crackling problem but unfortunately it's only a partial
solution.
When using either of these solutions you can only have sound in only one
application at the time. What I mean by that is when you play a media file in
VLC and open another one in a new VLC window or a different app (Firefox for
example) there won't be any sound.
You first have to close the original VLC window to get any sound back.

This has been discussed on the forums and it seems everyone has this
problem. Seems like the only real solution for now is to turn down the
default volume in VLC although this is far from ideal.

To be honest I don't really understand why this bug's importance isn't
set to high :), it makes VLC as a media player unusable imo.

[Bug 115344] Re: installer crashed

2007-06-03 Thread Henrik Nilsen Omma
Hi Guillaume,

The wiki page Brian inked to
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs) actually
contains detailed information on where to find the log files and how to
upload them. You will likely need to repeat the install attempt to get
them. Thanks.

2007-06-03 Thread Henrik Nilsen Omma
Hi, Just following up on this bug. Will you be able to provide these log
files? (you will have to repeat the install attempt with the same Live
CD to get them) Without the logs we will not be able to follow up this
issue further. This page contains detailed information on uploading log
files: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs

[Bug 118387] Re: gutsy: system - logout hangs something

2007-06-03 Thread Ken Lewis
I'm experiencing the same with the gnome-panel logout button freezing X.
Changing to VT's restarts the X server, which I've been doing.

I'm using Gutsy up-to-date as of today, with Nautilus 1:2.19.2-0ubuntu2
and Gnome-Panel 1:2.19.2-0ubuntu3.

[Bug 41994] Re: closed Laptop Lid to reliably keep Backlight off

2007-06-03 Thread Peter Clifton
Exists on HP Compaq nc6320 with Gutsy. Workaround is to set GPM to do
nothing when the lid is closed. Either the hardware or some other
driver sucessfuly takes care of blanking the screen and keeps it off
even with mouse movement.

[Bug 118395] Re: files /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log, and /var/log/partiman

2007-06-03 Thread Richard Birnie
Hi James,

thanks for taking the time to report this issue. However, it's not quite
clear what has happened. To follow up this issue it would help if you
could supply more information on what you were doing when the crash
occurred. Based on the traceback am I right in assuming that you were
trying to install Kubuntu 7.04 (feisty) and the installer crashed at
some stage? Could you clarify what steps you used to produce this crash,
i.e. did you use the graphical installer (it looks like you did) or the
alternate CD, what partitioning method did you use? What stage did the
install get to before it crashed?

Finally, the title of the bug refers to the exact log files we would
need to diagnose the problem. It would help if you could attach those
files, specifically /var/log/installer/syslog and
/var/log/installer/partman.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to diagnose the problem cleanly.
Thanks for helping to improve (K)Ubuntu.
Richard

[Bug 118523] mysql server fails to start, claims /var/lib/mysql full

2007-06-03 Thread Mark Ivey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mysql-server-5.0

I'm running 6.06 LTS. I tried to install mysql-server through synaptic and it
failed with a cryptic error message, so I tried to start the server by hand and
it failed:
  $ sudo /etc/init.d/mysql start
/etc/init.d/mysql[9628]: ERROR: The partition with /var/lib/mysql is too full!

After poking around a little, I found the problem on line 48 of
/etc/init.d/mysql:
  if LC_ALL=C BLOCKSIZE= df --portability $datadir/. | tail -n 1 | awk '{ exit
($44096) }'; then

That should be BLOCK_SIZE, I believe. This is confirmed by the fact that I can
start the server like this:
  $ BLOCK_SIZE='' sudo /etc/init.d/mysql start
  Starting MySQL database server: mysqld.

This may already be fixed in a newer version of ubuntu (see here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/edgy/+source/mysql-dfsg-5.0/5.0.24a-9) but it
would be nice if that was backported to the LTS edition :)
