[Bug 119467] Re: make non-essential packages Recommends and not Depends
This should rougly follow the approach of ubuntu-desktop: applications which can be considered 'optional' for a KDE desktop and are likely to be replaced with an alternative by many users should become a Recommends. Those are still installed by default, but changing a single application won't break updates any more. E. g. in Ubuntu we did this for evolution and firefox because many people prefer thunderbird and epiphany. We also did it for network- manager, since it breaks for many users, and they should be able to uninstall it without much fuss. [Bug 120514] No hooks for Feisty when specifying dist option creating new VM
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xen-tools After installing the ubuntu-xen-server package, the xen-tools do not have the distribution hook files for Feisty Fawn. This is verified when running xen-create-image with the --dist=feisty option. Xen-tools reports an error that it cannot find hooks for the distribution in /usr/lib/xen-tools. On inspection of setup hooks folder, there are files for earlier distributions Edgy and Dapper as well as for the various Debian flavors. These hooks should either exist as their own set up shell scripts or via a symlink to the setup scripts in the earlier Ubuntu dist folders dapper.d or edgy.d if there is no difference. ** Affects: xen-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- No hooks for Feisty when specifying dist option creating new VM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120514 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes. Feisty Fawn is working now. I have installed a 2.6.20-lowlatency kernel using apt-get and passed acpi=off option when booting. Re: [Bug 90043] Re: nautilus/scim conflicts on feisty
Hi guys, I just had a fresh install of feisty on a new PC, and the problem cannot be reproduced by the steps I provided before. But still you can reproduce it by the following steps: 1. Open a terminal and run im-switch -s scim_xim. This way you set xim to the default. 2. Logout and login. 3. Open nautilus, try to rename any file/folder, or press Ctrl-L to bring out the location bar and type anything you want, then you'll find the problem. BTW, I never had this kind of problem on Debian etch/sid either. Also if I just use the default settings of scim, I had problems entering Chinese in firefox sometimes, typically in a gmail chat box when trying to type a series of Chinese characters. [Bug 68020] Re: Azureus crashes just after startup (attempt to show sliding notification window)
Another Data Point: JVM = Java 6 I definitely *had* problems with Azureus in Feisty. If it was shut down irregularly, it was not possible to restart, as it would always crash just after splash screen. Deleting the logs fixed it as a workaround. Currently, after recent azureus package updates, everything works perfectly on Feisty with Java 6. If Azureus shuts down abruptly, it comes back up normally, showing the little slide-up notifier about irregular shutdown that apparently used to cause the crash. For me, this bug is fixed in Feisty. [Bug 112803] Re: MASTER [Feisty] cupsd leaking file descriptors (was: Multiple jobs are not printed)
Same here. Upgraded from edgy to feisty and the problem showed up. Upgraded to cups to 1.2.11. Still problems. Upgraded whole machine to gutsy. No good. Downgraded cups in gutsy to 1.2.4. Still same problem. -- MASTER [Feisty] cupsd leaking file descriptors (was: Multiple jobs are not printed) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112803 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 120520] VLC downloads Flash Video rather that streaming
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ffmpeg When trying to play a Flash Video (e.g. YouTube) in VLC using a URL, VLC will not stream the video but rather download it first and then start to play. Also reported here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2835741 I've tracked this bug down to FFMPEG. The version currently used by Feisty will try to find information about the streams in the flash video by reading frames. It succesfully discovers the audio and video stream, however, it does not stop reading frames after that and only starts playing the streams when it hits EOF. Hence VLC appears to first download the video rather than stream it. I'll attach a patch as soon as launchpad lets me ** Affects: ffmpeg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- VLC downloads Flash Video rather than streaming it https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120520 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
