[Bug 120214] Re: Faulty reporting of free space with Sony Ericsson z710

2007-06-15 Thread James Henstridge
I've committed a fix for this in r46. The capability parser now notes
if valid free and used space values appeared for a memory type, and the
VFS method will not report a free space value if none exist for the
selected memory type.

This should fix the file copying problem on your Z710. I am still
interested in data from your older phone for the test suite, if you can
provide it.

petr, hapee: this bug is clearly not a crasher. if your app crashes, you

[Bug 120493] Report Needed

2007-06-15 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu \(hjmf\)
Thank you Parthan for submitting this report.

We need a report with debug symbols. Could you please try to obtain a
backtrace by following the instructions on [1], or upload the *FULL*
crash report that probably was generated during the crash and that
should be located at /var/crash/ to [2].

Please indicate which extensions/plugins do you have enabled; and if
this crash is reproducible describe the steps that lead to it (it is
very important for us to have a test case for each crash).

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 119467] Re: make non-essential packages Recommends and not Depends

2007-06-15 Thread Martin Pitt
This should rougly follow the approach of ubuntu-desktop: applications
which can be considered 'optional' for a KDE desktop and are likely to
be replaced with an alternative by many users should become a
Recommends. Those are still installed by default, but changing a single
application won't break updates any more.

E. g. in Ubuntu we did this for evolution and firefox because many
people prefer thunderbird and epiphany. We also did it for network-
manager, since it breaks for many users, and they should be able to
uninstall it without much fuss. Other good candidates are CJK fonts,
documentation, etc.

[Bug 120514] No hooks for Feisty when specifying dist option creating new VM

2007-06-15 Thread r0b0t0
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xen-tools

After installing the ubuntu-xen-server package, the xen-tools do not
have the distribution hook files for Feisty Fawn.

This is verified when running xen-create-image with the --dist=feisty
option. Xen-tools reports an error that it cannot find hooks for the
distribution in /usr/lib/xen-tools.

On inspection of setup hooks folder, there are files for earlier
distributions Edgy and Dapper as well as for the various Debian flavors.
These hooks should either exist as their own set up shell scripts or via
a symlink to the setup scripts in the earlier Ubuntu dist folders
dapper.d or edgy.d if there is no difference.

** Affects: xen-tools (Ubuntu)

Re: [Bug 90043] Re: nautilus/scim conflicts on feisty

2007-06-15 Thread Keli Hu
Hi guys,

I just had a fresh install of feisty on a new PC, and the problem
cannot be reproduced by the steps I provided before. But still you can
reproduce it by the following steps:

1. Open a terminal and run im-switch -s scim_xim. This way you set
xim to the default.
2. Logout and login.
3. Open nautilus, try to rename any file/folder, or press Ctrl-L to
bring out the location bar and type anything you want, then you'll
find the problem.

BTW, I never had this kind of problem on Debian etch/sid either. Also
if I just use the default settings of scim, I had problems entering
Chinese in firefox sometimes, typically in a gmail chat box when
trying to type a series of Chinese characters.

Hi, Brian. Yes, no change in the situation. Just tried it last week and
works fine with the USB 1.1 port but I might get one action out of it
with the USB 2.0 port before it dies. Unknown to me if it is bad juju
between the two usb implementations or something deeper and more
sinister in the libusb subsystem itself.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntubetter. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't
 been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if the scanner is still
problematic when connected to a USB 2.0 port? Thanks in advance.

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22

Master sound control does not control the volume at all. The only way to
control the volume is by increasing/decreasing the PCM control via KMix
or alsaconfig.

Same problem with my USB camera, and one of my USB hard disks.

My SATA external USB drive will eject properly.
My IDE external USB drive exhibits the above symptoms.

suggesting it has something to do with the response given by the
IDE-USB interface; although it seems to be with ALOT of devices.

and as stated above, a CLI umount is not really acceptable.

[Bug 68020] Re: Azureus crashes just after startup (attempt to show sliding notification window)

2007-06-15 Thread Thom Pischke
Another Data Point:

JVM = Java 6

I definitely *had* problems with Azureus in Feisty. If it was shut down
irregularly, it was not possible to restart, as it would always crash
just after splash screen. Deleting the logs fixed it as a workaround.

Currently, after recent azureus package updates, everything works
perfectly on Feisty with Java 6. If Azureus shuts down abruptly, it
comes back up normally, showing the little slide-up notifier about
irregular shutdown that apparently used to cause the crash.

For me, this bug is fixed in Feisty. Have not tested under Dapper or
Edgy.

[Bug 88580] Re: kdesu accept any password

2007-06-15 Thread Martin Pitt
I just tried kdesu the first time for testing the sudo changes in bug

once, and from now on it accepts any password, even after I closed my
session, killed all processes of mine (including kdesud) and restarted
it. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

[Bug 22460] Re: Should be warned of upcoming forced fsck

2007-06-15 Thread Huygens
@Jim
It seems also at first thought better from my usage point of view to have the
scan at shutdown. Because, I usually shut down my computer and go doing other
things without looking at it.
However, the shutdown phase is also used upon reboot (at least, I do not know
if the scripts executed upon shutdown can guess if it is a reboot or
shutdown...) And I am not sure then if I prefer to have the scan on
shutdown/reboot...
But anyway, that's an idea :-)

It's possible, that Kontact was running, and as I only use

[Bug 120521] gnome-power-manager does not suspend on laptop lid close

2007-06-15 Thread fatejudger
Public bug reported:

Gnome-power-manager refuses to suspend when my laptop lid is closed,
despite the fact that I specifically set the settings to do so. When
probing the lid close event status over ssh, I can see that the event is
in fact being registered, but nothing is done about it. To add further
complexity to the matter, it seems as though this problem extends to the
power button as well. Let me know if I need to procure any additional
info regarding the problem.

[Bug 120525] transparency rendering problem in presentations

2007-06-15 Thread Aurelien Naldi
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I have an OOo impress presentation using some transparency (to have a
gradient as background in the master pages). In edit mode it renders
fine but does not work in presentation mode: every partially transparent
item is completely hidden (i.e. white background). The pdf export is OK.

Changing the rendering options (use of openGL and hardware accel) does not help.
The templates provided with the ubuntu package have the same problem.

It happens on an up to date feisty, both on a G5 (ATI graphic card) and
a P4 (intel chip) so it is probably not related to the video drivers.

[Bug 120520] VLC downloads Flash Video rather that streaming

2007-06-15 Thread HappyCamper
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ffmpeg

When trying to play a Flash Video (e.g. YouTube) in VLC using a URL, VLC will
not stream the video but rather download it first and then start to play. Also
reported here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2835741

I've tracked this bug down to FFMPEG. The version currently used by
Feisty will try to find information about the streams in the flash video
by reading frames. It succesfully discovers the audio and video stream,
however, it does not stop reading frames after that and only starts
playing the streams when it hits EOF. Hence VLC appears to first
download the video rather than stream it.

I'll attach a patch as soon as launchpad lets me
