[Bug 50886] Re: Patched localhost:631 page is bogus + misleading for Kubuntu

2007-07-10 Thread brettalton
Hi, I wrote this on it's sister bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cupsys/+bug/56602. I thought
it'd be good to cross reference just in-case developers don't look at
dups. Thanks.

--
I'm using an up-to-date Dapper (6.06.1) [2007-07-10] system and this bug is
still not fixed. In fact, http://localhost:631 will not accept ANY username or
password, even when running Firefox under gksu. Is a backport proposed or is
this bug a too bad for Dapper users?

According to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cupsys/, this was the
last Dapper update:

2006-08-03 Published dapper Updates main net 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06

Latest proposed:

2006-10-11 Removed dapper Proposed main net 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06.1
2007-02-15 Published dapper Proposed main net 1.2.2-0ubuntu0.6.06.2~proposed1

The Edgy update you speak of is here:

2006-07-26 Removed edgy Release main net 1.2.2-0ubuntu2

So will, or can Dapper get this bug fixed and at least upgrade to
1.2.2-0ubuntu2?

[Bug 122073] Re: should enhance svn

Is this really correct? Does bzr-svn enhance svn, or is it a transition
tool to migrate to bzr. I'm doubtful of this change and I don't think
it's worth carrying and Ubuntu diff for. I'd suggest that the reporter
should file a bug in Debian with the patch and see if they are willing
to pick it up. Other opinions?

[Bug 123904] Re: Candidate revision w3m-el_1.4.4-3ubuntu1

2007-07-10 Thread Michael W. Olson
I didn't drop it from 5 to 4. I upped it from 3 to 4, not knowing about
version 5 at the time. I need to redo part of the emacsen-install rules
anyway, so I'll make a new diff with this fix in just a bit.

I use Krusader to copy files from one place to another.

Hmm. What does `ls -la /media/bkp/bkps/home/rdiff-backup-data` report?

According to the traceback, rdiff-backup is trying to get information

[Bug 85488] Re: some usb_devices fault if usb_suspend enabled

2007-07-10 Thread Michael Chang
@jengel: Well if the code _appears_ to do that, then we can probably
work with that until the fix comes out and/or people tell us to do
differently.

@SilverLoz: Thank you very much for trying our suggestions.

As stated above, I wasn't expecting the boot-time flag to work in 2.6.20
(a.k.a. Feisty kernels) simply because it seems the patch to add that
functionality appeared in 2.6.21. Knowing helps, though. The boot-time
flag _should_ work in Gutsy, which uses 2.6.22... at least in theory.
Would it be possible for you (or someone else with a USB device who is
affected by this problem) to download a Gusty *buntu Tribe ISO, burn it
to a CD-R/RW, and then try appending usbcore.autosuspend=-1 to the
kernel command line before scanning from the LiveCD environment? (Once I
get the ISO downloaded myself I'll try and write up more detailed
instructions, but I actually haven't tried Gutsy yet, so I'm not fully
familiar with what changes (particularly interface changes), if any, are
currently in Gusty.)

[Bug 124801] Re: Connection drops at high traffic using rtl8187 driver

2007-07-10 Thread panurge77
All those logs are from 2.6.20

With 2.6.22, I can't get past login with rtl 8187 native driver and
networkmanager enabled. I have no problems with ndiswrapper driver and
netmanager disabled. I'll try to find out what's up with it.

I have no sound and have only tried the last command you posted on July 3. I
am also missing the volume icon now. Sound works fine on Windows. If there
is anything you need to view I would be happy to send you the info.

2007-07-10 Thread neko
Public bug reported:

In the Sound Preferences (System Preferences Sound), the multiselect
widget (Devices tab, near the bottom) is kind of confusing to use.

next to each item in the list. I will post a screenshot and mockup in a
bit.

[Bug 86685] Re: neo_cgi.so: undefined symbol: Py_InitModule4

2007-07-10 Thread BramSwenson
I think the more proper way to get the python module to install to the
correct site-packages directory is to do the following configure command
instead of the one listed above:

./configure --with-python=/usr/bin/python2.5

This worked for me in such a way that I did not have to manually copy
the neo_cgi.so file into place.

Thanks for all the info on the fix. Trac is vital to my organization.

[Bug 125176] default fonts for sheet music not included

Public bug reported:

Font problem
By: Matt (phreakuencies) - 2005-12-04 09:56
Kguitar's tablature font are way too small. Zoom In doesn't seem to be
implemented. I think this is because of the font I have set up on KDE (even
tough I use fluxbox with KDE apps): Luxi Sans 8. Is there a way to make the
font bigger just for kguitar?

Another font problem: the score view shows just a bunch of symbols (parentheses
and such) instead of music symbols, there seems to be a font missing or
something, where can I get it?

in addition, playback does not appear to work (freezes program @ 100%
cpu usage) in case anyone's listening.

are you sure rhythmbox isn't set to run @ start-up or something trippy?

see the trippy thing about this bug is that it shouldn't happen unless a user
on a x64 system actually launches rhythmbox and enables the visualization
called JESS...
the crash itself IS a libvisual-plugins issue... but it should NEVER reach this
point without the users help.

2007-07-10 Thread Emmet Hikory
I've unsubscribed ubuntu-universe-sponsors based on the previous comment
suggesting that an SRU may not be appropriate by a sponsor. Please
discuss the suitability of this update further, and resubscribe ubuntu-
universe-sponsors if there is consensus that an SRU is appropriate.

[Bug 125179] when vino is running for several hours, performance degrades, making xorg to eat up cpu usage

2007-07-10 Thread eldragon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vino

ok, ive been trying to pinpoint the problem of performance degrading
under feisty fawn for a while.

i did 2 formats, different desktop environments, and yet, the problem
persisted.

you can read the thread i started @
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=2949815#post2949815

i tried the following without any results:

ati closed fglrx drivers and ati open source drivers.
with compiz running, and withouth compiz running.
gnome, xfce, and kde.
formated twice, no external repositores, this problem started happening after i
decided to format and move my ubuntu partition to a raid-0 (fakeraid array).
during the second formatting, i moved the linux partition to an ATA drive, and
the /home to the raid-0 array. same results.
downgraded xorg's libraries as pointed in bug # 88815

after disabling vino, and replacing the server with x11vnc, everything
went back to normal (even vnc sessions ran smoother)

my system:
dfi lanparty UT- nf4 sli-dr
athlon64-939 3000+
4x512 ddr400 dual channel.
2x sata 80gb raid-0
several ide drives.
ati x600 128mb

[Bug 125181] SERIOUS REGRESSION: compiz clips display to top left 1/4 only.

2007-07-10 Thread Jeff Schroeder
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

The version of compiz in gutsy worked perfectly on my nvidia based
laptop, desktop, and ATI laptop under XGL until the latest update.

Once compiz 1:0.5.1+git20070703-0ubuntu3 was installed, and x was restarted,
this behavior started happening. I narrowed this down
to compiz and not X, the drivers, or the monitor because this happens on 3
different systems with different monitors and hardware.

Since compiz is enabled by default and this behavior is happening, this
is a blocker for composite-by-default. See attached screenshot.

[Bug 125182] playback of flash videos skips frames

2007-07-10 Thread Robert Persson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libxine1

Playback of flash (.flv) videos is very jerky in applications using the
xine engine, such as kaffeine, gxine and democracy player. For instance
a camera zoom takes place in discreet steps of, at a guess, around 300ms
each. This problem does not occur in MPlayer or VLC. Playback in the
Adobe Flash plugin is pretty crappy and jumpy too, but not nearly as bad
as it is in xine.

I am running Feisty on a 2.8GHz P4 with a Radeon 9200SE for graphics.

If you want to see the bug in action then probably any video on YouTube
would do. The one I've done the most testing on is found at
http://youtube.com/watch?v=cf0JoOBUyJ0 . The direct download link is
