[Bug 203433] [NEW] cp command doesn't preserve selinux context
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Binary package hint: coreutils Attempting to demonstrate the power of selinux I tried the following demo (works in RHEL): [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/www# ls -lZ /etc/shadow -rw-r-+ 1 root shadow system_u:object_r:shadow_t 1193 2008-03-17 17:55 /etc/shadow [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/www# cp -a /etc/shadow . Hello Martin-Éric, Thank you very much for the precompiled packets! [Bug 184296] Re: [Gutsy] X crash at startup when Xinerama is enabled (radeon)
aidave, your issue is that you are mixing some drivers (like nvidia) which support Xinerama, with drivers which support Xrandr (ati radeon). You need to use drivers which all use Xinerama, so you need to revert to an older -ati, like version 6.6.3 from Feisty. Then it will work. [Bug 201002] Re: error when updating libqt3-mt
This comes up on EVERY 7.10 update (after a new install). So it says, new updates avaliable, then you start the update process. It will fail nearly ~45% at the qt3 package, and you have to finish it in a terminal. Just type sudo apt-get upgrade (and it will continue) and then press Y to accept the maintainer package. So. This is occuring on a single update (on i386 + amd64 too), not when you upgrade to 8.04 (I don't tried this method). If you want, I will attach the log tomorrow. *** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: Binary package hint: dovecot References: DSA-1516-1 (http://www.debian.org/security/2008/dsa-1516) Quoting: Prior to this update, the default configuration for Dovecot used by Debian runs the server daemons with group mail privileges. This means that users with write access to their mail directory by other means (for example, through an SSH login) could read mailboxes owned by other users for which they do not have direct write access (CVE-2008-1199). In addition, an internal interpretation conflict in password handling has been addressed proactively, even though it is not known to be exploitable (CVE-2008-1218). Note that applying this update requires manual action: The configuration setting mail_extra_groups = mail has been replaced with mail_privileged_group = mail. The update will show a configuration file conflict in /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf. It is recommended that you keep the currently installed configuration file, and change the affected line. For your reference, the sample configuration (without your local changes) will have been written to /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf.dpkg-new. If your current configuration uses mail_extra_groups with a value different from mail, you may have to resort to the mail_access_groups configuration directive. ** Affects: dovecot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: dovecot (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Visibility changed to: Public ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2008-1199 ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2008-1218 ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #469457 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=469457 ** Also affects: dovecot (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=469457 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- [dovecot] [CVE-2008-1199, CVE-2008-1218] privilege escalation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203449 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 203452] [NEW] small typo preventing gnome-power-manager to be updated
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: acpi-support A small typo in /usr/share/acpi-support/FUJITSU SIEMENS.config prevents gnome-power-manager to be updated to 2.22.0-0ubuntu1, obviously its postinstall script runs into this typo. Maybe because I'm using a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook (but not that which is mentioned in the line with the error, I have a FSC Lifebook P7120). Fix is attached (use only on ) in case statement). [Bug 203305] Re: [iwl3945] cannot connect with network manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu1
Hello, today I tried at company. There is WPA-PSK network 'AnriGuest', it is visible in list of networks. When I try to connect, it was doing nothing (well showing the two gray dots and some animation around them) for at least five minutes, then I plugged in eth cable and selected (had to) 'Wired' network from nm-applet. Attached relevant part of daemon.log, please let me know if there is anything I should help with as this is rendereing NM useless at least for the moment. Btw, I noticed yesterday there was wpa_supplicant running with controlling interface at /var/run/wpa_supplicant-global, but I couldn't connect to it with: sudo wpa_cli -p /var/run/wpa_supplicant-global is this supposed to work? Today ps ax|grep wpa showed nothing. Wierd. I did purge and reinstall latest version of network-manager and network- manager-gnome. ** Attachment added: anriguest.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12719806/anriguest.log -- [iwl3945] cannot connect with network manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/203305 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 203455] [NEW] Match progress bar with Clearlooks/Murrine one
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash-theme-ubuntu Since we're now using Clearlooks or Murrine as the systems gtk engine, it would make sense to adjust usplash to match this. [Bug 202814] Re: Resume from standby works with pm-suspend but not with standard ubuntu/gnome actions (with fglrx-driver from restricted modules)
Well, I played around with the quirks a litte (nice collection of useful info, thanks!) but I am not sure if that leads to anything since pm- suspend without any called quirks suspends and resumes fine - so no quirks should be necessary, right? Somewhere in one of the fdi files I found some LG-specific settings (S3 stuff), tried them and found my laptop crashing badly. Also I experimented with the .none antiquirk but to no avail. It still seems like someone/-thing calls for vbe_post when I call the suspend function of g-p-m even though HAL knows what to do without any quirks. (Oh, by the way: Suspend/Resume works fine with the VESA driver.) Is there a way to track that down? Any typical culprits besides HAL? Re: [Bug 202314] Re: gnome-panel crashes are not reported
status inprogress Hi, Kees Cook [2008-03-17 20:25 -]: Martin, I would agree with your idea -- for stable, we need to let it crash silently. Is there a simple way to turn on dumpability for things linked to libpolkit, in the case of helping someone debug crashes later? There isn't. The only thing we can do is to disable the patch in PolicyKit now and enable it again right before the release.
