[Bug 211631] Re: CIFS/SMBFS shares not unmounted before network is shut down
One thing I only just figured out: if you are using the umountcifs script linked above, you also need to set the network as a system setting, otherwise it's pulled down when you exit KDE/Gnome and still leaves the umount hanging during shutdown/reboot. I made sure network-manager-gnome was installed, logged out of KDE, choose GNOME from the log in menu, and used GNOME's network manager to set the connection property. Note there is a bug in *that* program, so you have to make sure both 'automatic connect' and 'system setting' are unticked, then tick 'system' then 'automatic'. -- CIFS/SMBFS shares not unmounted before network is shut down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 316441] Re: PHP session garbage collection
In the [Session] section of php.ini there is the following: ; Define the probability that the 'garbage collection' process is started ; on every session initialization. ; The probability is calculated by using gc_probability/gc_divisor, ; e.g. 1/100 means there is a 1% chance that the GC process starts ; on each request. ; This is disabled in the Debian packages, due to the strict permissions ; on /var/lib/php5. Instead of setting this here, see the cronjob at ; /etc/cron.d/php5, which uses the session.gc_maxlifetime setting below session.gc_probability = 1 session.gc_divisor = 100 The default for session.gc_probability in Ubuntu is 0. What does work: Using standard PHP stuff, keeping sessions stored in default path of /var/lib/php5 What doesn't work: Changing session path to another folder either in php.ini or using an ini_set etc (although the cron job can be modified). (For example we use an NFS share for standard PHP sessions so sessions are valid accross multiple web servers.) Using session_set_save_handler to modify default session storage functions of php. Granted for most users the default functionality provided currently with php5 packages will be absolutely fine, but for larger, more complex and distributed PHP applications it breaks the functionality without modification back to php defaults. -- PHP session garbage collection https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316441 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thanks for reporting this issue, but the fact that the root user has full control over the system is not a bug, or a security issue. [Bug 324733] [NEW] Gadmin-squid delete your squid config and install a non working one instead
Public bug reported: 1) Install gadmin-squid to try it out 2) Launch gadmin-squid. It will tells you that it wants to create a new configuration and that, if you are not sure, should be what you want. 3) I agreed to that, thinking it was a gadmin configuration only. 4) Your squid configuration is deleted (no way to have it back !) and squid doesn't launch anymore because the new configuration is full of unknown command. This is simply not acceptable. gadmin should always backup your configuration before changing anything. Also, if a squid configuration exists, it should use it, not put its own (not everybody is starting it with an empty config, it should read the existing config). And last but not least, gadmin should have a working default config. ** Affects: gadmin-squid (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Gadmin-squid delete your squid config and install a non working one instead https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/324733 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi Shane! Your bug has already been reported, it is bug #262451 . For this reason I should close this report. Could you please follow these steps? 1) Open a Terminal 2) Run this command: sudo dpkg --audit. It will output a message like this: The following packages are only half configured, probably due to problems configuring them the first time. The configuration should be retried using dpkg --configure package or the configure menu option in dselect: gxine the xine video player, GTK+/Gnome user interface (NOTE that the last line may be different, and it is the most important!!! For example it could report a problem with program 'console-setup', or another program as well!) 3) Delete the program reported in the output message of sudo dpkg --audit, using this command sudo dpkg --remove name_of_the_program 4) Run sudo dpkg --configure -a 5) Run sudo dpkg --install name_of_the_program And try to open synaptic once again! Could you please tell us if this procedure has solved your problem? [Bug 272406] Re: cannot start gnome X in intrepid (gray screen with horizontal thin flashing black lines)
Just a note that I get the same white screen with random flashing horizontal line segments on a Gigabyte Radeon HD 4850 1GB (GV-R485MC- 1GH). I didn't see any rainbow patterns, though. This happens both in Intrepid and the alpha 3 release of Jaunty. Vesa does work, but can't set the resolution of my display, so text gets very blurry. -- cannot start gnome X in intrepid (gray screen with horizontal thin flashing black lines) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272406 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
