Try setting IdentitiesOnly yes in your ssh config file. It seems that if you have lots of public keys, then by default on the newer ssh, the key agent will offer them all. [Bug 227848] Re: boot order wrong for iscsi
The biggest blocker for getting this fixed in hardy isn't bug #44194, but rather Debian bug #383073 and Debian bug #383123 that were fixed in a post-hardy merge of sysvinit. Without that fix, there's no way to trigger mounting iscsi devices after they've been made available, which is the problem to be solved: the network interfaces are only *guaranteed* to be up after S40networking, and nothing in hardy will trigger mounting of non-network-filesystem devices after that point. Fixing 44194 would let us cover all our bases for things such as iSCSI + wpa_supplicant, but that's not actually an interesting use case to the typical iSCSI user and not the problem being discussed here; fixing this bug without 44194 would not be a regression since /usr on iSCSI doesn't work today for anyone in hardy. -- boot order wrong for iscsi https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227848 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to open-iscsi in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 22007] Re: no 'Settings' button in gnome-screensaver
But *WHY* do we have to run around in rings to do something that should be simple, just not to miff inoperative upstream maintenance. Let's DIVERGE if we want something good, while upstrem pushes something bad. Really, the screensaver is not important. Fine, then, let's fix it too, because this Ubuntu Papercuts program is for fixing unimportant things that are badly done and are pebbles in the sandal on the road to a totally smooth user experience. And it should be a very simple fix, it is not as we're trying to reimplement the window manager (which has been done for the Netbook Release). Leave the screensaver config program alone, but create an additional program that edits a particular .desktop file. A user simply sets their screensaver to this special one, and uses this hypothetical tool to configure the screensaver as they actually like. gnome-screensaver need not know of this at all. -- no 'Settings' button in gnome-screensaver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/22007 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Quality assurance: * Package works OOTB. * No debconfage. * Debian bugs: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?src=celt ; asking for 0.5, which Ubuntu has. * Maintenance in Debian looks to be dead. * Upstream is vigorous. * Can't find upstream bug tracker: https://trac.xiph.org/search?q=celt * Package doesn't deal with hardware. * There looks to be a test suite in the upstream source, and it isn't enabled to run during the build. 5. UI standards: * User-visible strings are internationalized using standard gettext system ? Yes * Package with translatable strings builds a PO template during package build ? Doesn't seem to. * End-user applications ship a desktop file ? No. 6. Standards compliance: * FHS, Debian Policy compliance ? Yes. * Packaging system (debhelper/cdbs/dbs) ? Bog-standard debehlper, no patch system or oddities. 7. Dependencies: * Build-Depends are libogg-dev, graphviz and doxygen which are all in main. 8. Maintenance: * How much maintenance is this package likely to need ? Not much. * Who is responsible for monitoring the quality of this package and fixing its bugs ? Are they Ubuntu or Debian developers ? 9. Background information: * The general purpose and context of the package should be clear from the package's debian/control file. If it isn't then please explain. * What do upstream call this software ? celt or celt-codec. 10. Internationalization: * Are graphical applications translatable? Do they support gettext? [Bug 274995] Re: MASTER storing ALSA mixer element values during shutdown hangs nondeterministically due to internal alsa-plugins pulse check
I'm reopening this bug because it reproduces with the latest release, which seems to have the fix released on 2008-12-03. I'm running a default install of Xubuntu 9.0.4 on a Sony Vaio VGN-G2. Problem: the system hangs during reboot or halt if there is an active wireless connection. During reboot, I get the following message * Stopping anac(h)ronistic cron anacron acpid: exiting nm-system-settings:SCPlugin-Ifupdown: devices removed (udi: /or/freedesktop/Hal/devices/net_00_1a_80_d6_06_5a) nm-system-settings:SCPlugin-Ifupdown: devices removed (udi: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/net_00_1f_3c_85_77_4a) nm-dispatcher.action: Caught signal 15, shutting down... The first line is sometimes different, but I can't seem to get the alternative message at the moment. The system makes no further progress. For halt, the message is just acpid: exiting\n\n, or sometimes it's just blank. The system is not completely frozen; the Enter key advances the cursor and the console is blanked after inactivity (and lights up again in response to a keystroke). Ctrl+Alt+Delete seems to be registering---it doesn't cause the system to make progress but after repeatedly pressing the combination, I see init: control-alt-delete respawning too fast, stopped. The reproducibility is not 100% although it's fairly high, well over 50% (subjectively; I didn't acutally count). The problem goes away if I link /etc/init.d/NetworkManager from rc0.d and rc6.d. I used the prefix K88 following Debian, but perhaps a different number is more appropriate for Ubuntu. ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- MASTER storing ALSA mixer element values during shutdown hangs nondeterministically due to internal alsa-plugins pulse check https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/274995 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 388290] [NEW] Resume from suspend causes wireless card to stop working
Public bug reported: I am running jaunty on a compaq presario v2000 laptop. The kernel which comes with jaunty works fine with suspend/resume. Since this laptop has an intel card, and because of issues with intel drivers shipped with jaunty, I followed this(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1130582) advise and updated xorg server and installed 2.6.30 kernel (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/). You can create the hwsubmission object by calling hwsubmission = lp.load('https://api.edge.launchpad.net/beta/+hwdb/+submission/%s' % submission_key) where submission_key is the unique ID provided by checkbox in the field field.submission_key when it uploads the hardware report via https://launchpad.net/+hwdb/+submit . [Bug 388296] [NEW] nvidia-settings hangs for some time after suspend
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-settings I have a Dell D620 laptop with a nvidia card that I bring with me between work and home. After resuming from suspend at work, I typically run nvidia-settings to switch to my external screen, but nvidia-settings tends to hang for a long time before opening its window. Minor annoyance, as it will usually come around. Today I ran an strace, and I think this identifies the culprit. It ends like this: stat64(/home/ketil/.config, {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 stat64(/home/ketil/.local, {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0700, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 stat64(/home/ketil/.selected_editor, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=74, ...}) = 0 stat64(/home/ketil/#.gnus.el#, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=2354, ...}) = 0 stat64(/home/ketil/gal.csv.gz, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=5367671, ...}) = 0 stat64(/home/ketil/.gcjwebplugin, {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0700, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 stat64(/home/ketil/_newsrc.eld, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=45174, ...}) = 0 stat64(/home/ketil/bin, {st_mode=S_IFDIR|0755, st_size=4096, ...}) = 0 stat64(/home/ketil/data, ^C unfinished ... Now, data is an sshfs mount, which obviously got broken when I suspended the machine, and stat64 apparently hangs non-interruptedly for a long time when a mount has gone astray. So, easily fixed by mounting stuff in a subdirectory (i.e. ~/mnt/data) instead, but still, two questions: 1. Does the kernel really need to wait this long for stat'ing a broken network mount? Couldn't it somehow be detected? 2. Does nvidia-settings *really* need to stat each and every file in my home directory? ** Affects: nvidia-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nvidia-settings hangs for some time after suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/388296 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 311451] Re: Please merge hdparm 9.12-2 (main) from Debian unstable
We don't care about pre-hardy changes because they'd be end-of-life or we don't care because people have to upgrade releases incrementally and Karmic is 1 upgrade from Fiesty? More generally, we don't support upgrades which skip releases, except for LTS - LTS. Thus, in order to upgrade from gutsy to anything, you first _must_ upgrade to karmic. Thus it is sufficient to only keep transition code until the next LTS. As for the debhelper change, that went in because dh_installudev was modified in Ubuntu to install into /usr/lib/rules.d. Ah, indeed, I remember; sorry for the noise. So, while udev itself in Debian is up to date now, dh_installudev still does the wrong thing in Debian :-( -- Please merge hdparm 9.15-1 (main) from Debian unstable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311451 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 359109] Re: kernel 2.6.28 freeze
sorry being about being so late. here is the results. firstly 2.6.24 was running ok but the problem was resulted from 2.6.28 kernel. i have tried several things and included your solutions disabling the splash screen and could not find out meaningful solution. i was reported 2.6.24 was running ok except for intel graphic card. the main reason for this i think lack of the memory since it was only 512MB ram and 32 mb graphic card. i thought that the same reason can cause the 2.6.28 kernel freezes, then i decided to sell my laptop. (which i did). right now i have a dual -core 2GB ram 512 MB graphic card laptop and i is running perfectly even with kde 3D desktop effects (not compiz, i did not tried). as a result the freezing problem could be casued from lack of memory, so you can close the thread now. thanks for your nice help and support.
