[Bug 392826] Re: dhcp3-server is launched before NetworkManager and thus doesn't find interfaces

2009-08-18 Thread Sebastian Kaps
Thanks, I'll try this script. Moving the dhcp3-server init-script to S99...
doesn't help in my case, btw.
I need the DHCP server to listen on my WLAN card and apparently the delay that
results from moving its launch from S40 to S90 isn't sufficient.
Maybe some kind of feedback from NetworkManager via nm-tool would help to solve
this, so the dhcp3-server init-script could check on the state of the
configured interfaces. Something like nm-tool --interface wlan0 --state that
would output connected it wlan0 is connected.
I guess one also could write a wrapper that parses the output of nm-tool in its
current state.

[Bug 414017] Re: dhclient hooks should not output messages on the root console

2009-08-18 Thread Thierry Carrez
So the issue is more about DHCP3 dhclient hooks directly outputting
messages to root console rather than logging/redirecting them. Though
this can be fixed on a per-hook basis, this is not specific to the samba
hook.

** Summary changed:

- Reloading /etc/samba/smb.conf smbd only

[Bug 334374] Re: libnss-ldap should not depend on libpam-ldap

2009-08-18 Thread Thierry Carrez
Andreas: I would still explicitely recommend ldap-auth-config from
libnss-ldap. Even if it is redundant from an resulting installed
packages perspective, it is still very much recommended to have it
installed if you use libnss-ldap. Not only if you use libpam-ldap.

[Bug 415416] [NEW] sasl2-bin doesn't mention saslauthd for apt-cache search searchterm.

2009-08-18 Thread rew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: sasl2-bin

see also bug 12464

Not being entirely familiar with the sasl system, I found I needed
saslauthd. Turns out this lives in the sasl2-bin package.

Usually when I use apt-cache search name-of-program I get the
appropriate results. As I often see results that do not mention my
searchterm, I think there is an area where apt-cache also searches, that
could mention in this case saslauthd, to allow me (but especially others
having the same problem :-) ) to find it with the obvious search

[Bug 412059] Re: MIR for vtun

2009-08-18 Thread Loïc Minier
  * debian/patches/07-fix-gcc-warnings.patch: Fix gcc warnings.

Ouch that actually *hides* the warning, but doesn't handle the error
conditions at all

Thanks for the other changes, but I really think you should either
handle the error conditions or remove the patch altogether.

[ NB:
  * Clean up debian directory.
I'd personally not touch anything we dont need to touch in Ubuntu as it makes
it harder to merge newer Debian versions; up to you though. ]

Will assign to Kees for security comments.

[Bug 403599] Re: Installing PHP5 performs a reload to apache instead of a restart

2009-08-18 Thread Nandox7
Great effort put on this matter, thanks!

I'll run some tests regarding this.
I find odd the need to use the restart, the reload/force-reload should perform
the same action except of course for the immediate killing of all the
connections.

[Bug 283928] Re: X-Server crashes unpredictably

2009-08-18 Thread Leann Ogasawara
This bug was reported a while ago and hasn't had any recent activity.
Looking at the error message this doesn't appear to be a kernel bug but
rather an issue with a python script segfaulting.

If you can, please confirm this issue remains with the latest Karmic
9.10 Alpha Release - http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/ . If
the issue remains, please file a bug against the appropriate package.
If you need help determining which package, refer to

[Bug 415202] [NEW] unattended-upgrade email should inform if reboot is required

2009-08-18 Thread Nick Barcet
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unattended-upgrades

unattended-upgrade sends an email informing of an upgrade if
'Unattended-Upgrade::Mail' is set in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-

reboot is required or not.

the failure)

[Bug 284049] Re: Novatel U727 USB Adapter Boot Problem

2009-08-18 Thread kernel-janitor
Hi Joachim,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development
release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic . If the issue remains,
please run the following command from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 284049

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 415203] [NEW] Need to add AWCC to Mobile Broadband database

2009-08-18 Thread bitinerant
Public bug reported:

The mobile broadband provider AWCC (Afghan Wireless, http://www.afghan-
wireless.com/) needs to be added to the database. I manually edited the
file

 /usr/share/mobile-broadband-provider-info/serviceproviders.xml

and addeded these lines:

!-- Afghanistan --
country code=af
provider
nameAWCC/name

/gsm
usernameawcc/username
password/password
dns212.23.32.71/dns

Following this, I was able to connect to AWCC via my USB-connected

[Bug 415101] Re: Emacs language menus are blank

There seems to be an error message print is undefined in the
minibuffer. Could you M-: (setq debug-on-error t) and post the contents
of the resulting *Backtrace* buffer here, provided one is produced?
Thanks.

[Bug 415101] Re: Emacs language menus are blank

2009-08-18 Thread era
Sorry, that did not come out so good. In more detail, after you enable
debug-on-error, try to visit a C buffer and attempt to open the C menu;
this (I speculate) ought to produce a *Backtrace* buffer which you can
save to a temporary file and attach here. (Press q in the *Backtrace*
buffer to discard it. M-: (setq debug-on-error nil) to turn off
debugging.) Sorry for the sloppy instructions, and thanks in advance.

[Bug 413166] Re: [ubuntu karmic] firefox incorrectly closes on CTRL-W

2009-08-18 Thread Micah Gersten
This is not an error. There is no browser without a tab in it at this point.
That may be a feature in the future, but when you close the last tab, it's like
closing the window. Also, as I said, this worked the same way in Firefox 3.0.
Addons are free to modify functionality. My guess is that it just does a
check every time you use CTRL + W to see if you only have one tab open. I
confirmed with the Mozilla people that this is the expected behavior. You have
the extension that changes it to your liking. That's what the extensions are
for, to give people options for features that Mozilla can't make for everyone.
Please feel free to report any other issues you may find.

[Bug 284479] Re: Ath5k driver is generating excessive interupts when idle and keeping processor out of C3 state

2009-08-18 Thread kernel-janitor
Hi Tim,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a
Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically
gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 284479

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.
