I am running Gwibber 2.31.1 on KDE 4.3.5 (Open SuSE 11.2) and I do not
see a system tray icon when I run gwibber. Is this related to this bug
and not having the 'indicator-app' running or is it completely
different?

[Bug 34590] Re: [mach64] DRI not Automatically Enabled for ATI Rage Mobility P/M

2010-04-23 Thread Tormod Volden
No, it is not fixed. The upstream task is marked as fixed because it was
pointing to a security issue blocking the inclusion of mach64 into the
main drm repository. However the inclusion did not happen anyway.
Meanwhile, the drm code moved to the kernel, and still has no mach64.
The Ubuntu task was closed because of missing feedback from the
reporter.

If anyone would like to hack on this, the most recent patches I have
seen are from Mandriva, see http://forums.opensuse.org/get-help-
here/hardware/435228-ati-mach64-2.html

[Bug 568946] [NEW] clamav-base.postinst doesn't check user of clamd when it sets LocalSocketGroup

2010-04-23 Thread Paweł Tęcza
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: clamav-base

I've upgraded ClamAV running on Ubuntu Jaunty from version
0.95.3+dfsg-1ubuntu0.09.04.1
to version 0.96+dfsg-1ubuntu2 which I backported using source package for
coming Ubuntu Lucid.
Unfortunately ClamAV failed during restart as you can see below:

* Stopping ClamAV daemon clamd [ OK ]
[...]
* Starting ClamAV daemon clamd \
ERROR: Failed to change socket ownership to group clamav
   Closing the main socket.[fail]

Please note that my ClamAV daemon runs with privileges of amavis user, not
default
clamav user, so its socket has the following owner and group:

# ls -l /var/run/clamav/
total 0
s- 1 amavis amavis 0 2010-04-22 16:30 clamd.ctl

# ls -ld /var/run/clamav/
drwxr-xr-x 2 amavis root 60 2010-04-22 16:30 /var/run/clamav/

The reason of the socket problem is that clamav-base.postinst script doesn't
check user
of clamd process and set automatically new option SocketLocalGroup clamav
in /etc/clamav/clamd.conf file. My ClamAV ran successfully again when I set
SocketLocalGroup amavis there and restarted it.

I think that post install script of clamav-base package should be more smart
and check
User option in the config file of clamd.

[Bug 568947] [NEW] DSL tab doesn't do what it is supposed to do

2010-04-23 Thread grasscap
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plasma-widget-networkmanagement

version: kubuntu lucid 10.04 , updated all the way from alpha1

I can set up a DSL connection via the DSL tab. And I also configure it
to connect automatically. But it never works. It doesn't connect
automatically and there is no way to dial up DSL manually from network

[Bug 566520] Re: MIR for gnugo

2010-04-23 Thread Jonathan Riddell
Yes I would like gnugo in main. It needs no notable dependencies, has
had no security issues and includes a large regression testsuite. The
testsuite is not part of the package build process currently but could
be easily added.

I don't want to drop gnugo from a recommends to a suggests, running the
programme just gives a message to install gnugo. We could drop kigo
from the kdegames meta-package which would stop it needing to be in
main. MIR for gnugo is my preferred option so subscribing ubuntu-mir.

The reason of the socket problem is that clamav-base.postinst script doesn't

[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share

2010-04-23 Thread Tom
There's a shiny new toy, i want, i want, i want. There's another new
toy, i want, i want, i want.

It's really bad there are so many shiny new toys. Please stop it!! Force
me to keep using the old one i hid in the cupboard.

Linux should not allow so many choices! It should be more like Windows.

On the other hand i will be quite glad to settle people down on 10.04LTS
and let them rest there for a few years. I stuck with 9.04 for about a
year. There's still 9months support for it so even now i don't HAVE to
upgrade.

To upgrade i test a LiveCd of it
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD
try it on a small partition away from my main stable install
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot
and than decide whether to commit to it or use a separate /home
Oh, dang it, more choices!!

Here's this link again

Regards from
Tom :)

[Bug 568879] Re: systemsettings needs a menu item to close it

2010-04-23 Thread sputnik
I do not agree with that. systemsettings leaves the normal behavior of
programs. Every program in my graphical menu (kmenu) that I can think of
has an integrated menu item to be able to be closed through the menu.
Except systemsettings. But systemsettings is one of the most basic
programs that need to be handled by any user and also by beginners.

I will have to look why I do not have the button on the top right corner
that you can see, Thomas. Thanks for your eyes.

I will reopen the bug now as the problem is still existing:
1) systemsettings does not use the standard of KDE programs
2) If there is no border around the programs systemsettings is not able to be
closed through the gui.

Thanks for following up. I checked and this dialog still is not working
for me, even when polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 is running. I was
hoping that would fix it too :-/

[Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks

2010-04-23 Thread Elton Woo
I haven't followed too closely about what is being dropped from the CD
for lack of space, but I understand that The Gimp is one of them. At the
risk of dumping yet another important package from the CD, why not just
'bite the bullet' and do so [remove another (other) packag(s) from the
CD]?

Perhaps even substitute Xfce or a lighter desktop in place of Nautilus
(?), just to ensure that a proper kernel is included... Linux
enthusiasts like myself might gripe a bit, but at least we will be ABLE
to CONNECT and GET what is missing.

=The kernel is the *heart* of the OS. Anything *less* than this fixed
kernel and Canonical / Ubuntu is giving birth to a *seriously
handicapped* (...dare I say 'stillborn'?) child. =

[... anyway, I'm off to today's Olympic parade in downtown Montreal.
Maybe I'll run into someone from Team Ubuntu and twist his arm!]

... sorry if I'm being so insistent about this...

[Bug 568796] Re: Changing to Ambiance theme sets old window button order

That file can most likely be deprecated. Good catch. I'll wait for
Kenneth to confirm this. The settings are in the artwork package.

[Bug 523820] Re: Gwibber has no way to clear window/stream

2010-04-23 Thread Michael Stucki
That is a no-go for me. Clearing the stream is one of the most important
features. I don't want to search everytime up to where I did read my stream. At
least Gwibber should save the position otherwise.
Seems I will have to stick with Twhirl for the time being...

[Bug 568973] [NEW] [IDT 92HD73C1X5] No sound from headphone jacks

2010-04-23 Thread Avdi Grimm
Public bug reported:

Runing Lucid beta 2 on a brand new Dell Studio XPS 16. This laptop has
two headphone jacks. Plugging headphones into either jack mutes main
speaker audio, but audio does not play back through the headphones.

The headphone jacks are confirmed to work under Windows 7, but I have
not tried it under any other version of Linux.

Changing the Connector option in Sound Preferences to either Analog
Headphones or Analog Line Out has no effect.

I've also tried installing xfce4-mixer and switching various channels on
and off, with no luck.

[Bug 474986] Re: [HP-Pavilion FJ470AA-ABA m9357c] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]

2010-04-23 Thread Rick
I have conducted two tests. The suspend / resume failed both times. I am
running the latest 10.4 release. After waiting a while for the computer
to power off, I did the usual attempt to wake up the computer with no
response. When I rebooted, the network was marked as disabled. I enabled
the network and the system seems to be working ok.

I will conduct detailed testing this weekend.

I am a developer and am interested in debugging this issue.

[Bug 566520] Re: MIR for gnugo

2010-04-23 Thread Martin Pitt
There was no Debian upload in 1.5 years, but there are no Debian/Ubuntu
bugs. It has ancient packaging, though (not even using debhelper), but
since it has no i18n/gettext and is just by and large an engine, we do
not need to worry about translation stripping anyway.

So it's a bit rusty, but as a game it's harmless enough that I could
live with it being in main.

[Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks

2010-04-23 Thread Stephen Tanner
I agree, this is of huge importance. How many Eee PC users are we
willing to exclude?

My WPA/2 is what I use at home and what they use on campus, and has
become *the* encryption standard for wireless since WEP is so easy to
pwn in secconds.

If the package maintainers fail to update this, we as a community should
create a ppa with a dkms kernel module for this driver. I know its not a
perfect solution but its better than nothing and people can either a)
use hard line connection or b) download it before installing and store
it on a usb drive.
