[Bug 584048] Re: kvm images losing connectivity w/bridged network
Probably network freeze occur because of adding (on guest start-up) created tun/tap interface to the bridge. On guest shutdown tun/tap interface are removed from bridge. I have play around by replacing '-net tap' to '-net tap,ifname=tap.0,script=no,downscript=no' - no freeze occur. But in this case guest are not connected to the outside world. I have no idea does network freeze problem related to the virtual network kernel drivers or is it related to the physical network interface drivers of the host machine (in my case host if is 'RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 02)'). [Bug 293000] Re: hardy: openssh-server oom_adj can lead to denial of service
Is there going to be a back port to Hardy 8.04 LTS? I have had a serious issue with a Virtual Server where the only access is via SSHD. This resulted in an errant CPAN update downing the entire box due to all services started via SSH being oom_adj == -17 and therefore not being killed when out of control. I cannot risk setting SSHD_OOM_ADJUST=0 in /etc/default/ssh as it is essential that sshd remains running at all cost. I have temporarily put echo 0 /proc/self/oom_adj in /etc/bash.bashrc as a workaround. At least this may stop some potential problems. [Bug 524447] Re: virsh save is very slow
This actually turns out to be related to dd's default block size. By default, dd uses a block size of 512. The effect of this is that qemu fills the pipe buffer very quickly because dd just is submitting very small requests (that will require a RMW). If you set an explict block size with dd (via bs=1M), you'll notice a significant improvement in throughput. So I think this turns out to be a libvirt issue, not a qemu issue. ** Changed in: qemu Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- virsh save is very slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524447 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 583933] Re: test results in php5-common are more than 1 MiB larger than last upload
It appears that the tests failed for some reason in 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2, but were successful again in 5.3.2-1ubuntu5, as the file is the right size. However, the bug is not fixed, as the failed tests should have failed the build. I believe it has to do with piping the output of the tests to tee, therefore missing the exit code and not failing the tests... patch forthcoming. -- test results in php5-common are more than 1 MiB larger than last upload https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583933 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 588601] [NEW] I am getting fed up with Ubuntu releases
Public bug reported: Look - do you guys know what you are doing or not. I have been a user since approximately version 6. Up until 9.04 all is well, easy to use, set up etc. Starting with 9.10 it has been a mess. Difficult setup, hours killed getting the computer to work right, still not quite right after all is said and done. Now to version 10. On one of my other computers I upgraded 9.1 to 10. the upgrade did not work well for video, sound was always garbled and only after much work did I get video to work right. The problem seems to be the ATI video driver. When I open Synaptic Package Manager it reports that there are 3 broken packages on my system and to use Broken filter. I checked your web site but could not find any clear guidance on what Broken filter is so I tried Fix Broken Packages under Edit In Synaptic. Absolutely nothing happened, no message, no indication that the command worked or any other clue.. I then searched for videos drivers in Synaptic and found the fglrx file and tried to load it. I forget now but when I first upgraded, and tried to solve the video problem was told (forget what told me) that this is what I needed to load. I tried to load the file and received this error message An error occurred E: /var/cache/apt/archives/fglrx_2% 3a8.723.1-0ubuntu3_amd64.deb: subprocess new pre-installation script return error exit status 1 After more attempts over several days I got a really dumb idea. I decided to create a dual boot system with one boot being the upgrade ver. 10 and the other being created using a cd burned with the ver. 10 from your web site. I loaded the cd version and all seemed well at first. The cd ver. was notably faster (something I assumed might happen) and I now thought I could hopefully get video with good audio on the cd. ver. But guess what, I now have a computer with a dual boot (both ver. 10) but no internet access from either boot. The boot that use to access the internet fine except for buggy video and garbled sound won't access the internet and neither will the other boot. I am at a loss at this point as to what to do. I tried the icon in the upper right that says something like autoeth and all seemed well except it said it had never connect. Never had this type problem before so not sure what to do. Hate to start all over with a reload that just erases everything and end up at the same point. Any ideas? Guys it was this kind of never ending problems that made me give up Windows and become a Ubuntu and iMac (for the wife) house. At first you were great and easy to use, but lately it has not been worth the effort. In case you are wondering, I am reasonably computer literate, use the command line, learned PC's with the first IBM dual floppy machines, still think the HP41cv (not technically a computer) is (still have and use mine) one of the best products ever produced and enjoy working with computers for fun but not when I am forced to by poor upgrades. so give me some hope please. thanks David ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- I am getting fed up with Ubuntu releases https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/588601 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 588595] Re: Ubuntu download button renders inccorrectly in Firefox 3.7 (trunk)
I'm a FF developer, and I'm not sure this is a FF bug. FF 3.7 introduced a new HTML5-compliant parser, and I think it's rejecting the content inside the button tag. Chuck is correct. But instead of confirming, this should be set to wontfix. [Bug 588595] Re: Ubuntu download button renders inccorrectly in Firefox 3.7 (trunk)
Hm...maybe this actually is valid HTML5 as written. If I'm reading the spec [1] correctly, button should be able to contain that content since it's non-interactive. I'll ask around. [Bug 588155] Re: randomly gnome-settings-daemon fails to start
I have tried the dbgsym version of gnome-settings-daemon, however I don't see how to go about getting a backtrace on a program that automatically starts at login. It doesn't seem to flag the apport automatic bug reporting thing, I'm guessing it starts after gnome-settings-daemon (or needs it). I tried killing and restarting gnome-settings-daemon after login about 20 times without any problems. It seems to only happen at boot (about 1 in 5 times?). So starting gnome-settings-daemon with gdb in the console won't cause the problem since it works fine after login. In addition to that those instructions on the wiki don't actually work, installing the dbgsym package doesn't seem to actually replace the binary according to the md5sum of the binary and gdb reports no symbols. No error is shown during the install, I tried with a normal apt-get, one that specified the version as shown in the wiki and through synaptic. I can't uninstall the non-debug version without it trying to remove most of Gnome. -- randomly gnome-settings-daemon fails to start https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/588155 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
