[Bug 688541] Re: race condition on shutdown (leads to corrupted fs)

2010-12-24 Thread ingo
I first tried to grep within a x-term, but there I get faulty output regarding
gvfs. I suppose it's not needed.
So I booted into a maintainence root-shell (without network) and did:

lsof -n | grep deleted - nothing reported

apt-get install --reinstall libc6
 and afterwards
lsof -n | grep deleted - nothing reported

Rebooting brings up the 8 orphaned inodes.

May I conclude that reinstall of libc6 package performes correctly and
file-system corruption is caused by shutdown process?

I am prepared to do more tests, just advise (I am not an expert) and consider
local time, I am living east of Greenwich.
Merry Christmas, Ingo

And here the output of

initctl list

after reinstall of libc6. It is amaizeing, that even though I selected
root shell without network in the maintainence system, a lot of
services including network is up and running (I used scp to copy the
output to my PC).

[Bug 694114] [NEW] umountfs init job crashes with SIGSEGV when autofs is in use

2010-12-24 Thread Marcin Dylewski
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autofs5

I have an autofs daemon running and mounting NFS shares over /mnt/auto
directory. Whenever i perform restart of the system (using reboot
command) i can see that during umountfs stage info about /mnt/auto is
being busy is displayed, then information about remount in ro mode.
Then i can see the Segmentation Fault message and none of the
filesystems are cleanly umounted. The result is that during the boot
fsck is being run on all fs and correct errors. I beieve this is quite
critical bug because it may result with data loss.

[Bug 546745] Re: libvirt tries to read /etc/sasl/libvirt.conf not /etc/sasl2/libvirt.conf despite docs

2010-12-24 Thread Neil Wilson
The cyrus-sasl package in Debian/Ubuntu uses '/etc/sasl' as the standard
directory in which to find the application configurations.

The fault here with the libvirt package is that it is putting the
example sasl configuration in /etc/sasl2 which is wrong for
Debian/Ubuntu.

2010-12-24 Thread jan
I have exactly the same experience. Trying to set up on:
Linux 2.6.32-27-generic #49-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 1 23:52:12 UTC 2010 i686
GNU/Linux

sudo dpkg --configure dovecot-common

results in:

Setting up dovecot-common (1:1.2.9-1ubuntu6.1) ...
Creating generic self-signed certificate: /etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem
(replace with hand-crafted or authorized one if needed).
hostname: Name or service not known
dpkg: error processing dovecot-common (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:

I have no clue on how to tell the system where hostname resides.
Besides, hostname just works fine.

which hostname
returns
/bin/hostname

As I can see on my installation the following happens:

requested_mask=r:: denied_mask=r::

but

virt-aa-helper.c:
865 for (i = 0; i  ctl-def-nserials; i++)
866 if (ctl-def-serials[i]
ctl-def-serials[i]-data.file.path)
867 if (vah_add_file(buf,
868 ctl-def-serials[i]-data.file.path, w)
!= 0)
869 goto clean;
870
871 if (ctl-def-console ctl-def-console-data.file.path)
872 if (vah_add_file(buf, ctl-def-console-data.file.path, w)
!= 0)
873 goto clean;

so apparmor profiles contain e.g. /dev/ttyS0 w, which allows writing to
the file, but not reading :-/

[Bug 693494] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 // Brightness control doesn't work correctly on Samsung Q330 Notebook

2010-12-24 Thread Falk
Hello,

I have solved the problem already by following. I included my notebook
type Q330 in

/lib/udev/rules.d/95-keyboard-force-release.rules

in the line

ENV{DMI_VENDOR}==[sS][aA][mM][sS][uU][nN][gG]*,

It seems to work. But I will test the mainline kernel after Christmas
too.

Nice Christmas to all!

[Bug 694052] Re: Recent Documents point frequently to invalid links

2010-12-24 Thread Chris Wilson
Sorry, my bad. I just skim read bug 352105. It's not actually a
duplicate.

Btw, if you think the current state of a bug report is in any way
inaccurate, just go ahead and change it. Things like marking as
duplicate, forwarding to another project, etc can be done by anyone -
these are your bug reports as much as they are ours, or anyone else's
for that matter :)

2010-12-24 Thread Jani Monoses
@doko: we don't want pth ? I see libgpgme provides both pth and pthread
based shared libraries.

/usr/lib/libgpgme-pth.so.11

Or should the pth variant be dropped on armel only?

pth has issues on ARM, possibly due to the fact that user contexts are not
available on that architecture, and causes the vwdial related crashes and FTBFS
But this longjump bug may be unrelated to that.

[Bug 531190] Re: upower (devkit-power) reporting bad data when AC cable is unplugged

2010-12-24 Thread efa
about this effort duplication, all of you can read the opensource book: After
the software wars:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/After_the_Software_Wars
It speak exacly about the relationship between Ubuntu and the Debian
distributions (toghether others very interesting arguments inside MS, and its
relationship with future of opensource).
Remember that everything is developed and fixed in Debian beta distribution,
then got transferred to Ubuntu:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debian
http://www.debian.org/misc/children-distros
Only the CDRom distro installer and some other minor parts are developed and
manteined by Ubuntu itself, so only those should be reported to Ubuntu. For all
the others, to speed up fixing, please post the bugs on the proper uptream
lists (kernel.org, freedesktop.org, gnome.org, sourceforge.net, debian.org, etc)

[Bug 694112] [NEW] Wrong size in 5 disk raidz

2010-12-24 Thread Constantine Tsardounis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: zfs-fuse

Hello to all,

I have 5 disks and when I am creating a raidz vdev I am not getting the
proper capacity:

I think the capacity should be 1500+2000+640+160+150-2000 ~= 2450 GB but
is under 700 GB

Could you please tell me if this this is normal? What am I doing wrong?

I am also attaching various disk combinations for the zpool which show
that adding disks, the total size is decreasing This is really
peculiar I think...

Merry Christmas to everyone!

Constantine Tsardounis

Steps to reproduce:
# fdisk -l /dev/sd{a,b,c,d,e} |grep Disk /dev/sd

Disk /dev/sda: 1500.3 GB, 1500301910016 bytes

[Bug 441653] Re: radeon graphics mode and console does not start - xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE failed: Interrupted system call

2010-12-24 Thread Albert Zeyer
@David:

Read my comment #49. And also the linked Freedesktop bug.
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29975

I read the relevant Xorg-server code and the same bug is still there and
not fixed. There may be various possible reasons why VT_ACTIVATE
succeeds but VT_WAITACTIVE will wait forever because in between, some
other process has grabbed it.

A clean solution would be to do lock somehow the VT switching. I have
read that this is possible, though very complicated and very messy.

Another possible fix/workaround would be do do the VT_ACTIVE in a
endless loop in a separate thread and halt when either the VT_WAITACTIVE
returns or when one of them return an error.

In any case, fixing this at another place than in Xorg would be the
wrong way!

[Bug 541620] Re: Ralink RT3090 Wireless Not Supported in Lucid

Presumably the ubuntu 10.10 netbook edition works because it is 32 bit
while the 64 bit version (desktop) fails with bug 659143.

It would be interesting to see more reports from users of the rt2800pci
driver, both for working and non-working cases. But please with the
output from the following commands:

uname -rvm
lspci -knn |grep Network --after-context 3

in addition to information about where the driver came from (built in or
extra install with compat-wireless, linux-backports-modules-wireless,
...)

The cleanest workaround for this bug that I've found is to run the
Maverick kernel that is now officially supported on Lucid. All you need
to do is :

sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic-lts-backport-maverick

Official specs that documents this:

[Bug 328448] Re: XDMCP login using compiz cause reverse menu and graphics on client

So we call glXGetFBConfigAttrib (display, fbConfigs[j],
GLX_Y_INVERTED_EXT, value); to see if we should flip the y axis when
drawing or not, apparently due to the different hardware in the host vs
the client this is not working correctly. I can't see of a way around
this though, except for each of you modifying the source to change
yInverted to whatever value is needed for your situation.
