[Bug 419182] Re: KVM and audio driver in Windows 7

2011-03-06 Thread Aaron Roydhouse
Good news. Looks like newer sound drivers are coming to Qemu in 0.14
(Maverick has 0.12.5, but Natty has 0.14) that work with Windows 7.

http://wiki.qemu.org/ChangeLog/0.14

Sound

* New Intel HD Audio support (commit), adding three new devices:
o intel-hda: Intel HD Audio Controller, the PCI device.
o hda-duplex: HDA Codec. Attaches to the HDA bus. Supports 16bit
stereo, rates 16k - 96k, playback, recording and volume control (with
CONFIG_MIXEMU=y).
o hda-output: HDA Codec without recording support. Subset of the
hda-duplex codec. Use this if you don't want your guests access your mic.
* Usage: add '-device intel-hda -device hda-duplex' to your command line.
* Tested guests:
  o Linux works.
  o Win7 works.
  o DOS (mpxplay) works.
  o WinXP doesn't work.

[Bug 690638] Re: snmp tools fail to translate OIDs

2011-03-06 Thread William King
I am also affected by this issue. Currently I have a fresh install of
Ubuntu 10.10, and I have installed snmpd. I then installed the snmp-
mips-downloader package and installed the mips. This helped
significantly because now it can resolve 'system' and others.

What is still at issue is that any of the extended commands now fail
with the error:

root@thedraft:~# snmpwalk -v2c -c public localhost
NET-SNMP-EXTEND-MIB::nsExtendOutputFull.test1.0
NET-SNMP-EXTEND-MIB::nsExtendOutputFull.test1.0 = No more variables left in

NVM. I found that my issue was caused by a restricted view. I think the
snmp-mibs-download package is what you are looking for. You can google
about it. Basically it seems debian stopped shipping the mibs due to
potential legal reasons, but there is a package that will download them
for you.

There is no fix for Maverick yet, but according to the Launchpad page
Chuck will backport a fix to Maverick.

[Bug 730259] Re: tomcat6-instance-create does not behave properly on setting a value less than 1024 for the control port

2011-03-06 Thread Abhinav Upadhyay
Sorry, running tomcat6-instance-create as root, solved the issue. But I
believe, it should have displayed an error that I need to run the server
as root in order to bind to a port less than 1024, rather than stupidly
say server started.

** Changed in: tomcat6 (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Invalid

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: tomcat6

On specifying any value less than 1024 for the -c option of
tomcat6-instance-create, the server instance does not work as expected. It gets
configured and gets started, but pages won't load in the browser.
  For example, on running
- $tomcat6-instance-create -c 1001 -p 8001 ~/my_tomcat
+ $tomcat6-instance-create -c 1001 -p 8001 ~/my_tomcat

- It configures the instance properly, with the specified port values also
appearing in ~/my_tomcat/conf/server.xml . The server also starts successfully.
But, I cannot access http://localhost:8001/
- On opening it, in the browser, the browser simply says Page not found .

There is no problem in shutting down the server. This behaviour is
occuring for any values less than 1024 for the control port.

[Bug 730259] Re: tomcat6-instance-create does not behave properly on setting a value less than 1024 for the control port

2011-03-06 Thread Abhinav Upadhyay
Changed the bug report. It should at least give a warning before
starting the server, that without root privileges it won't be able to
serve pages. (Running server as root is not such a good idea, but in
case someone wants to ).

[Bug 730336] [NEW] [NOT A BUG] Include a dependency in SAMBA package

2011-03-06 Thread André Madureira
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Hello,

Problem (Dependency error):

When I install SAMBA via NAUTILUS sharing option (Default File Manager
of UBUNTU 10.10) it marks the package libpam-smbpass for installation
together with SAMBA package, but when I try to install SAMBA via
SYNAPTIC, it don't mark this package...

CONSEQUENCE:

What I've noticed is that without the package libpam-smbpass, my
computer is now shown to the other computers in my SAMBA workgroup...
With it my PC is shown in the workgroup...

Solution:

Add the package libpam-smbpass to SAMBA dependencies in a way that the
user have to install it if he/she wants to install SAMBA via SYNAPTIC or
other package manager...

WORKAROUND:

Install the package libpam-smbpass separately from SAMBA package using
any package manager...

Thanks for your attention,

André M.

Note that Ubuntu probably wants all the other things in the upcoming

However I'm attaching the two patches for this issue.

In my case, I have ntpd running on my router running 10.04.2.
It appears ntpd is only complaining about interfaces that have both IPv4 and
IPv6 addresses at the same time.
My lan interface (eth0) has both and ntpd is complaining.
It isn't complaining about interface 'i6' which is my IPv6 tunnel to Hurricane
Electric.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mountall

I use Maverick.

If there are more entrys in fstab with 'none' as mountpoint they
overwrite each other in mountall internal list unless the fstype is
swap. I had 2 swap partitions, one for ubuntu and one for arch, and
changed the latter type to 'ignore' but that overwrote the swap in
mountall as mentioned before, and it was not mounted.

fstab and patch to make new list item also with ignore types attached.

[Bug 730026] [NEW] Incorrect colors for all videos on youtube

2011-03-06 Thread Ben Andersen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

This suddenly started appearing on my machine, it's been working for
years before.

The colors for all movies on youtube are tints of red/magenta/yellow (see
screenshot). It doesn't matter if I'm logged into youtube or not.
The same movies are normal if I take the embedding code and view it on another
site. Ustream and Viemo works fine. And once in a while the first video I view
on youtube does work. The flashplugin also started crashing a lot when changing
from one video playing to another one.

The same thing happens in Firefox, Chromium and Epiphany.

[Bug 378240] Re: Please merge xen 4.0.1-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2011-03-06 Thread Sami Haahtinen
I've created a package set for Xen 4.0.1 based on the debian packages
with minimal changes. They are available in my PPA, but i'd love to file
the appropriate bugs and so on if I only knew what to report and where.
There doesn't appear to be a policy for this sort of thing.

The packages are available for natty at
https://launchpad.net/~ressu/+archive/ppa

Essentially, this change affects 3 source packages. xen-common (which
can be built as is), libvirt which needs adjustments in build depends
(libxen3-dev - libxen-dev) and of course xen itself.

Xen needs 2 additional patches and minor modifications for the debian
package. The 2 patches fix build process and python 2.7 compatibility.
Only other modifications are build dependency modifications.

2011-03-06 Thread Sami Haahtinen
And as a note, I don't think it is a good idea to start this mess all
over again, by packaging 4.1 outside of the Debian packages. Sure, it'll
get Xen 4.1 in faster, but it will most likely end up in the same
situation as we are in now.

Supports 16bit
stereo, rates 16k - 96k, playback, recording and volume control (with
CONFIG_MIXEMU=y).
o hda-output: HDA Codec without recording support. Subset of the
hda-duplex codec. Use this if you don't want your guests access your mic.
* Usage: add '-device intel-hda -device hda-duplex' to your command line.
* Tested guests:
  o Linux works.
  o Win7 works.
  o DOS (mpxplay) works.
  o WinXP doesn't work.

[Bug 729932] Re: Error in errno(1)

2011-03-06 Thread Reuben Thomas
errno(2) in freebsd-manpages is actually an alias for intro(2). There's
still no reason to cross-reference it from a Linux man page that I can
see, but you could reduce confusion by specifically cross-referencing
intro(2) rather than errno(2). It is confusing, because, according to
Linux man page sectioning, section 2 is for system calls, and so a
cross-reference to errno(2) implies that there's a system call called
errno, which there isn't (not even on FreeBSD!).

[Bug 388654] Re: glipper doesn't work with openoffice if more than a word is selected

2011-03-06 Thread marco.pallotta
I confirm the issue also with 10.04 and 10.10.
It seems that if you select an entire line with shift+end (placing the cursor
pointer at the start of the line) all works ok but if you select it with mouse
we obtain the issue. The same issue happens if you select only a portion of the
line (both with mouse and shift+end keys)

Re: [Bug 305301] Re: [RC410] Xpress 200M hangs when resuming from suspend with DRI (needs KMS)

2011-03-06 Thread Karesz
Okay, some progress (or regress maybe?)! So, I've tried a new hungarian
distribution called Little Susie ft. KDE3. It's pretty neat, and is made for
older machines. Just for my interest i've tried, if suspend to RAM, then
resume from RAM works on it. IT does! It is based on OpenSuSE 11.1, running
kernel 2.6.27-48 i686.
What if someone smarter than me would check the difference between that
kernel's resume functions, and maverick's/natty's kernel's resume functions,
because (what a surprise :D) it still doesn't work for me in Natty Narwhal
alpha 3! Or if we couldn't integrate the older kernels resume function in
the new kernel because of the new KMS/DRI2, then finding a workaround, like
when suspending to RAM, fallback to older driver, and after resume init the
new driver.

(I don't know if this discussion can be held up here, or if i should file a
new bug for Natty?)

Sincerely: Karesz

[Bug 730038] [NEW] Attaching esternal screen to my notebook will cause xserver to corrupt

2011-03-06 Thread GodNobody
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When I attach my external screen to the notebook, both screens are
turning black and I'm not able to control my system any more.

Sometimes it is possible to log out attach the screen and log in again, with
the screens are both working in the right position and and right resolution.
But as I said that is only sometimes the case. Normaly it is just the same
effect as both screens turn black and I have to reboot.

If you need any further information, please ask!

[Bug 704833] Re: Dropbox isn't shown in indicator-applet - uses notfication tray instead

2011-03-06 Thread Niran Babalola
To clarify, Dropbox's indicator menu works fine in Maverick. In Natty,
it sounds like it isn't detecting that the indicator-applet is present,
so it falls back to adding a notification area applet, which doesn't
display in Natty. If Dropbox's indicator-applet detection has broken
from Maverick to Natty, there are likely other implementations that have
broken as well. At the very least, the indicator-applet change should be
reported to them so they can fix it.

PLEASE add at least this option, just as it was for the classic gnome task-bar.
that's exactly the reason I don't use the netbook edition on my netbook:
i'm used to have 6 workspaces (2 private, 4 for my job) and I really like not
being distracted by anything going on on the other workspaces. it get's so
confusing having an over-full launcher in which I have to scroll. (plus

Re: [Bug 625364] Re: lenovo/thinkpad R500/T6x/T400[s]/T500/W500/W700/X60/X200 suspend fails

2011-03-06 Thread Marcus Uneson
Confirming Tim's report: the issue remains unsolved on my T400
also with kernel 2.6.35-27.

2011/3/5 Tim dark...@fastmail.fm:
I tested this latest kernel and my T400 is still crashing to the
flashing moon on about 1 in 5 suspends.

Don't want to get too excited yet, but my Thinkpad x201 has been working
since the kernel update. I had upgraded to 2.6.36 (still had problems),
but moving back to 2.6.36-27-generic-phc has been working for me. My
computer finally seems reliable again - this has been a bleak Ubuntu
period since I updated from Lucid, as I bring my computer to meetings,
home, work, business trips, and it was not suspending/resuming the vast
 majority of the time.

 Bug description:
Using recent maverick kernels, my suspend has stopped working.  It
previously worked in lucid, and for much of maverick development
  cycle.

Now, closing the laptop results in flashing 'moon' and a switch of
console out of X, with an unrelated message on the screen (I think it
is gdk message, but don't recall exactly).

opening laptop back up, it is generally unresponsive.  (alt-f1 - alt-f7 do
 nothing).
I've had to hard power off.

[Bug 383157] Re: package high quality voices for festival

2011-03-06 Thread Jarno Suni
Do you have to remove diphone based voices to add HTS voices? There used
to be even more languages packed for festival than its man page shows.
E.g. finnish voice was pretty good. After ubuntu 9.10 no other than
the default English voice works. Can you confirm Bug #688940?
