[Bug 743280] [NEW] Folder-watching is broken
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba # lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS Release:10.04 # apt-cache policy samba samba: Installiert: 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 Kandidat: 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.5 I have my music stored on a samba-share. I'm using foobar2000 wich monitors my music. Every time I change some files on my share I get errors in foobar2000. I did some research and found the problem. This is the way you can reproduce and monitor it on my pc: - Add a share to the foobar200 library - Start Wireshark, and filter the view by smb.nt.function == 4. - Start Process Monitor, filter everything out except foobar2000.exe. Perhaps go to Filter Highlight and exclude Result in SUCCESS, FAST IO DISALLOWED and NAME NOT FOUND, to see the interesting lines more easily. - Rename one of the files in the monitored folder. Now if it's broken: - The status of the ML directory changes to Error!. - Message like Folder watching failure: The specified server cannot perform the requested operation. is logged to the console. - Process Monitor log contains 0xC0C3 result code for the NotifyChangeDirectory call. - Wireshark captured a NT Trans Response, FID: 0x, NT NOTIFY with the change notification. It contains at least two parameters, like RENAMED_OLD_NAME and RENAMED_NEW_NAME, and the first has File Name Len not divisible by 4 and Next Entry Offset neither. - There are no further NT NOTIFY responses because the connection is closed due to error by the Win7 client. Here's how that part should be implemented: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee441569(v=prot.13).aspx Each entry in the list MUST be DWORD aligned (32-bit aligned), so NextEntryOffset MUST be a multiple of 4. [Bug 683591] Re: sensors-applet randomly picks up duplicates
From the debug output it looks like there are already duplicate entries for some sensors saved in sensors-applet's settings - basically what is happening is that libsensors is not providing consistent naming of sensors across reboots - so on first boot sensors-applet gets the list of sensors from libsensors with names A,B,C say, and then saves this list of sensors in its settings along with whether they are enabled etc, graph colour and whotnot. Then on next boot, for the same set of sensors, libsensors returns names D,E,F and so these look like different sensors (they have different names) and so sensors-applet may also save this new list of sensors to its settings - so now in the sensors-applet settings we have sensors A,B,C,D,E,F even though at any one time there is really only either A,B,C or D,E,F - so this is really a bug in libsensors for not providing consistent naming, not sensors-applet since there is no way to know that D is really A since it actually looks like a new sensor. ** Changed in: sensors-applet (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid ** Also affects: lm-sensors (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lm-sensors in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/683591 Title: sensors-applet randomly picks up duplicates -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 463435] Re: Update errors out with Hash Sum mismatch
The analysis is most likely correct. But that does not resolve the problem. The problem being ubuntu configured to use a mirror (like http://dk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/...) and update manager notifies the user that an upgrade is available before it reaches the configured mirror (http://dk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/...) So what kind of information do you need? The problem is most likely reproducible with the following steps: 1. Configure your ubuntu to use mirror site (like http://dk.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/...) 2. Configure your update manager (KPackageKit) to check for updates hourly. 3. Let the computer stay turned on the day a new release is released and observe. 4. As soon as the update manager notifies you of a new release, choose to upgrade your ubuntu. [Bug 704187] Re: Unable to add Wine applications to Unity launcher
First off, I apologize if the following post is hard to understand/comprehend; I have a hard time conveying thoughts and ideas using text. I'll attach screenshots that try to explain the written steps. I have the solution to this bug. The reason why the wine application launcher is being shown as the launcher icon is because the wine app is being opened from within the wine prefix. That means that wine is being launched, and then the windows application is being launched inside of it. By default wine attempts to launch the .lnk shortcut file that points to the .exe in the wine folder. The solution is to create a .desktop file in a location that is looked at by the launcher and to change the command so that wine directly launches the application's executable. Below is a tutorial on how to add Microsoft Word 2007 to the Unity launcher: 1)Open the following: Applications - System - Main Menu 2)Highlight Applications on the left side list 3)Click the New Menu and in the popup box give it a name of wine-apps or something of the sort. The launcher will look in this folder and add any items in it to the All Applications portion of the launcher later on... 4)On the left side list expand the following: Applications - Wine - Programs - Microsoft Office 5)Highlight the following: Microsoft Office Word 2007 6)Drag and Drop into the menu on the left hand side that you created earlier in step 3 5)Click on the menu on the left side of the window that was created in step 3 6)You should see the Microsoft office word launcher on the right side of the window 9)Highlight it and click on Properties. 10) Change the command box to match the following (change %USERNAME% to match yours accordingly): wine /home/%USERNAME%/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office12/WINWORD.EXE 11) If the icon is the default wine icon, click on it and browse to this directory (all Wine application icons should be located here): /home/%USERNAME%/.local/share/icons 11) Click on the Close button twice to close out of the main menu app. 12) Reboot the computer, or log off and back on. This will allow the launcher to repull the proper .desktop files and it should populate the All Applications with the launcher icon you just made 13) Open the launcher icon and once the program has loaded in Wine you should be able to right click the icon in the launcher and pin it. Also the icon in the launcher should have the same icon as the application does in windows. That is a lot of steps, and it's rather time consuming, but it does work. I just started using ubuntu about a month ago and i just installed the netbook remix version yesterday night. So if there was a much shorter/condensed way of doing that, then please let me know. This above steps should work with any windows applications that are installed in wine. The instrucions will just have to modified to reflect whatever you are trying to add to the launcher. I did the above steps with word and excel and I could pin both to the unity launcher and I could have both word and excel running at the same time and both opened from the Unity launcher. [Bug 706795] Re: [All releases] Suspend/Resume with rootfs on USB, causes filesystem corruptions and kernel panic on mount attempt, leaving system unbootable with data lost.
This seems very similar to what I am seeing on my system if I use 2.6.37 instead of maveric's usual 2.6.35. I have been running ubuntu off of a flash drive on this system since 9.04 and only recently stared to encounter this. Unlike the original report I have never had the accompanying kernel panics at boot. Fsck runs at boot and manages to repair the filesystem and then boot properly. It should probably be noted that my setup is a little different in that I run two USB flash drives in RAID 0 instead of a single drive and that my /boot partition is on the SSD that came with the laptop and has so far not been affected by this. I did also run a single USB drive for a while a year or so back and I do not recall encountering this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/706795 Title: [All releases] Suspend/Resume with rootfs on USB, causes filesystem corruptions and kernel panic on mount attempt, leaving system unbootable with data lost. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 742475] Re: Firefox 4 does not use Ubuntu Notifications
We don't support third party extensions, so you need to talk to the developers of xul-ext-notify if you want it to work in Firefox 4. In any case, Firefox already supports libnotify notifications, but it falls back to its own XUL notifications on Ubuntu because notify-osd doesn't support actions. Overriding this would provide an even more sub-optimal experience (download finished notifications with no obvious way to access those downloads are completely useless), so it's totally the wrong thing to do. What should happen is that download progress should be integrated with the launcher in Unity, but that's not for the natty timeframe. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/742475 Title: Firefox 4 does not use Ubuntu Notifications -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes the stroke is definitely 0.01mm As far as I know, such small stroke widths (basically none, or at least my eyes would not see a line with the width of a one-hundredth mm without a magnifier) are rounded up to a minimal width in the dimensions on the controls bar of the select tool. [Bug 683905] Re: Xorg locks up after crash with Radeon HD5670 and dual-monitor setup
I did a new install of Ubuntu 10.10 and was hit by this bug. My graphic card is ATI HD 3400. I have also confirmed that the bug is due to the rotation of my left monitor. Does this bug affect also 10.04? I.e. can I get around this problem by installing that instead? [Bug 516018] Re: cups 400 Bad Request for fully qualified host name
Also I think this is important to support HOST.local (avahi/bonjour/ZeroConf) type of name resolution. I have a home network in wich i can't manage the routers dns since it only relays a dns from the cloud and al machines are assigned via dhcp so no static ips. Avahi and Bonjour in Mac and Windows hosts have helped me to manage internal names and services on my lan, having a server with a dynamic ip is not ideal, but is the way It works better on the router side. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/516018 Title: cups 400 Bad Request for fully qualified host name -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 742994] [NEW] package squid 2.7.STABLE7-1ubuntu12.2 failed to install/upgrade: le sous-processus script post-installation installé a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 1
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: squid Today, the PC requested to load several updates. The update process failed at least for one package (squid). What I know is that squid was running well before the update (together with squidguard, for internet site filtering. I had firefox running during the update). I saw tha failure only after I finished surfing (closed firefox) and when attempting to report the bug, the net filtering is out of order (firefox could not connect to the web) and I had to by pass it in order to sent the present bug report.
