Finally installed Natty, but also still have this same problem. I can confirm that pci=nomsi fixes the problem, as does acpi=off and nolapic. [Bug 784155] [NEW] Grub2 is booting first OS rather than default OS
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: grub2 I have a problem with Natty and grub2. I tried using Start Manager to change the default OS and it continues to boot the first entry in the list, which is Natty. I also tried editing /etc/default/grub and changed the grub default to 10 (the number of the line I want to boot, a Win7 OS). Then executed sudo update-grub2, to no avail. I also tried using the grub-customizer ( a very nice graphical interface to update grub). You can find it at: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/43471/how-to-configure-the-linux-grub2-boot-menu-the-easy-way/. No luck. [Bug 784168] [NEW] Kernel 2.6.38 doesn't boot showing either a black screen or junk
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati This has happened immediately after I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04. Kernel 2.6.38 is not booting and shows junk on the screen. I tried a USB pendrive (USB pendrive works with Ubuntu 10.10) and I get a black screen. After grub has disappeared the system starts booting, and after some seconds I get a screen screwed up. Cannot switch to virtual terminals and cannot connect via ssh. With the USB pendrive more or less the same happens. After I click start, nothing else appears on the screen and the boot procedure stops. The only way I found to get both systems start is to add nomodeset parameter. With this the system starts. The same system starts with kernel 2.6.35 without the nomodeset parameter. Anyway, since I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04, I'm experiencing some sudden logouts and frequent complete screen freeze when in dual screen. The Ubuntu kernel team suggested to try kernel 2.6.39-020639rc7-generic. This is working correctly it seems. [Bug 749811] Re: [r300] Screensaver will not complete screensaver to sleep mode, PC freezes and must be hard rebooted
@Tormod: I tried your suggestion with xset. No dice. The problem is that I can't enter that command within the session where the screen locks, I have to change to a session other than TTY7 (where the X server is running) in order to have interaction with the display. That means when I type the command string you suggested, I get a message about how xset can't interact with the display . I've also discovered that setting the screensaver to not turn on when idle or to not lock the desktop when the screensaver is active does not help. The screen locks after the screen blanks, though I have not pinned down exactly how long it takes to make the display freeze. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749811 Title: [r300] Screensaver will not complete screensaver to sleep mode, PC freezes and must be hard rebooted -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 771803] Re: bzr crashed with TypeError in check : check takes exactly 1 argument 2 given
Hi Martin, thanks for your reply and for reopening the bug report. At the time of the bug report, I was using 'bzr check' to check the consistency of a shared repository pior to moving it as part of a change of workflow model to a centralised model. By now I successfully moved the repo, but here's the output of the command you suggested, executed in the top level dir of the repo: -- 8- xx@xx:~$ bzr info -v Shared repository with trees (format: 2a) Location: shared repository: . Format: control: Meta directory format 1 repository: Repository format 2a - rich roots, group compression and chk inventories Create working tree for new branches inside the repository. Repository: 138 revisions -- 8- 'bzr check' however does not give me any errors any more. I'm sorry I can't provide more information at this time, but I just could not keep the old structure intact. Thanks again Jannik -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/771803 Title: bzr crashed with TypeError in check : check takes exactly 1 argument 2 given -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
