[Bug 1020834] [NEW] instance-state: unknown
Public bug reported: After deploy of a maas setup, the different maas managed servers report: instance-state: unknown Why is that? It's possible to juju ssh, ping the machine, ping the maas server from the instances, do dns lookup of the maas server from the instances. It's possible to do dns lookup the different instances from the maas server. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This looks like a local configuration problem, rather than a bug in Ubuntu, so I'm marking this bug as Invalid. You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community If you believe that this is really a bug, then you may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. [Bug 1015582] Re: package puppetmaster-passenger 2.7.11-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
I can reproduce this error in Percise. What's happening is that apache is being restarted a second time to soon. I've included the postinst script output below. To test the theory I ran 'invoke-rc.d apache2 restart;invoke-rc.d apache2 restart' - the second restart failed. If I add a sleep 'invoke- rc.d apache2 restart; sleep 1; invoke-rc.d apache2 restart' then the second restart succeeds. The postinst script could be changed so that it would only ever call restart once. [Bug 1018171] Re: apache2 init script report start success too early
This also causes the puppet init script to fail, at least for me, on precise: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/puppet/+bug/1015582 The script restarts apache twice, and the second time the restart fails because apache hasn't created it's pid file yet. So the init script thinks apache isn't running. On my system, the init script finishes at 11:21:04.823562372 while the pid file doesn't appear until 11:21:05.180181675. So there is race condition for a few hundred milliseconds. [Bug 988819] Re: [SRU] wrong path to libxml2.so.2 in mod_security - broken by multiarch enabled libraries
There are two schools of thought here. Some people prefer linking to the libraries directly (the saner approach for a Linux distribution) and some people prefer to load depending libraries with LoadFile (to make it easier to avoid loading to different versions of the same library in the same process). Mod_security used to take the second approach. If that has changed, or the packaging modifies it to link to libxml, then simply removing the LoadFile line is the logical thing to do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to apache2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/988819 Title: [SRU] wrong path to libxml2.so.2 in mod_security - broken by multiarch enabled libraries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+bug/988819/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 967410] Re: Windows clients cannot connect to shared printers
This bug is somewhat a deal breaker for 12.04 for me. A search on Google will likely show up an array of deal break bugs for Samba 3.6.x. I've been hoping for a fix to come over the last few weeks, but on looking at the upstream release notes, there doesn't seem to be a fix in the pipeline for this, although the most recent update to samba has many, many bug and security fixes. Perhaps Andrew Tridgell is busy fire fighting at the moment with the 3.6 series. I understand substantial sections have been re-written and obviously not yet mature code. Perhaps distributions need to do their own code quality control, and perhaps make choices whether to include the latest versions if too buggy. I'd suggest the previous 3.5 series of Samba should be included in 12.04 repositories, and available by default at least until samba 3.6 is more mature. I wish I had the time, knowledge and resources to help Andrew Tridgell in his programming efforts on Samba. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/967410 Title: Windows clients cannot connect to shared printers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/967410/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 878516] Re: Restoring a grid-placed window by dragging the title bar downwards does not restore the original window width
The problem is only happening when the window is maximized to the Left or Right edge. If you place a window to for example top left, or bottom, the window is resized correctly after it's snapped away from its position. Grid leaves the unmaximation to some other component and that doesn't restore the width which was changed prior to maximation (my guess is that it saves the window state after grid has changed the width) . Easy workaround would be to resize (and reposition, the position is also wrong if unmaximized via window controls) the window in GridWindow::stateChangeNotify when window is unmaximized. However this would complicate things even more as there's now two parts of the code which handle resizing and repositioning (one for normal restore, another for restore from maximized state). While debugging this, I found many other bugs (I'll open separate reports about those). IMO the window handling parts of the grid plugin should be completely rewritten instead of relying on ugly hacks to fix these bugs. Working around them would be hard and it will make make the code even more complicated than needs to be and thus might cause some other problems in the future... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878516 Title: Restoring a grid-placed window by dragging the title bar downwards does not restore the original window width To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/878516/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Wile investigating package information i found that i have about 400 packages wich do not have the correct /var/lib/dpkg/info/packagename.list. [Bug 875297] Re: Ubuntu installer hangs on Choose a picture screen. Never recovers. Installation not bootable.
The original bug report suggested this might be because the screen on a netbook is too low resolution. However I can see the Continue button on mine (1024x600) and still can't click it because the mouse and keyboard are frozen. ** Summary changed: - Netbook Install Fail - Choose a picture screen to large Virtically + Ubuntu installer hangs on Choose a picture screen.
