[Bug 1128994] [NEW] Can't boot into Windows 7 after install Ubuntu 12.10
Public bug reported: This is the second time i encounter this problem. I have Windows 7 installed on Partition C on my Hard drive. When I tried to install Ubuntu 12.10, it detects that I have Windows 7 installation. I choose the option to install Ubuntu along side Windows 7 and let the installer do the work automatically. When installation finishes, I got the grub2 menu showing that normal Ubuntu choices and one entry for Windows 7. When I choose it, I got an error message that I can't boot into Windows. I didn't note the message but it talks about having invalid arguments for calling Windows 7 loader. After doing some researches on this problem, my major suspection is that Ubuntu overwrote the MBR records for Windows. It didn't create for itself another drive and installed its boot record! ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1128994 Title: Can't boot into Windows 7 after install Ubuntu 12.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1128994/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1128942] [NEW] Requires SessionManager now?
Testing the latest daily of raring and attempting to use Orca for installation shows that everything still works properly, so at-spi2-core doesn't require a session manager, I think its just trying to find one. Given the new world order with GTK3 and at-spi, we no longer need to explicitly launch at-spi2 in ubiquity-dm, since GTK now launches at-spi2 via the use of libatk-bridge. I wonder if these messages go away if the at-spi2 loading code from ubiquity-dm is removed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1128942 Title: Requires SessionManager now? [Bug 1123192] Re: open-iscsi removes modules on stop but should not
Actually one problem we are seeing should be pretty universal. When using OCFS2, it will open the shared iSCSI device with O_DIRECT, and write a heartbeat there. If this errors, then the node self fences (i.e. reboots). If the open-iscsi package is upgraded, it calls the init with a stop method, then the start method. There may be a gap between these two if lots of packages are being upgraded. It's actually not just the modprobes that are the problem here, it's the fact that it logs out of all iscsi targets WHETHER OR NOT THEY ARE IN THE CONFIG FILE which is the issue. In one scenario here we aren't using the config file at all - we're calling iscsiadm or equivalent to mount the LUNs directly. What should be happening here I think is it shutting down the daemon and arguably stopping the targets it started on boot. I don't see why it's interfering with other targets it had nothing to do with starting. Or at least there should be some /etc/default type setting that says 'please don't interfere with running targets'. What happens if your root directory is on iscsi? (serious question - I'm interested in how it's meant to cope) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1123192 Title: open-iscsi removes modules on stop but should not To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-iscsi/+bug/1123192/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
