[Bug 1153626] Re: Multiple Interfaces and IPs not detected in AWS VPC

2013-03-18 Thread Michael Hale
My current thinking is that a udev rule will need to have a RUN hook
that updates /etc/network/interfaces or at a minimum runs the
appropriate ip commands based on what is discovered in the EC2 metadata
service. It seems like updating /etc/network/interfaces would be good
since ifup/ifdown rely on its configuration. According to the VPC docs
(http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/using-
eni.html#detach_eni) it appears that eth0 can *not* be removed from a
running instance while eth1 may be removed or added while the machine is
running. However, it is unclear if additional VIPs can be added to eth0
while the instance is running. I'm not sure how changes to the available
IPs would be detected without polling the meta-data service.

[Bug 952108] Re: [Precise] Nautilus: memory leak

2013-03-18 Thread Scott Long
I can still confirm this bug has yet to be fixed. This is also happening
in 32bit and has nothing to do with the appmenu. I have deleted this
from the start. Abnormal memory usage is leaking through nautilus and no
window needs to be open for it to happen. This is critical for a system
with low RAM.

[Bug 1156988] [NEW] Fails to verify GPG signature of a package

2013-03-18 Thread Krzysztof Wilczynski
Public bug reported:

The dpkg-sig script is unable to verify a signature of a Debian package
when GNU ar is used to assemble the package. This also renders dpkg-sig
not capable of adding new signature when one already exists.

The problem lies in the difference of how GNU ar will terminate a file
name to indicate where it ends - it will add a trailing slash /
(forward slash) on the contrary to BSD ar which does not follow such
practice[1].

For example:

* File content:

krzysztof@b1:~$ ar vt zookeeper-cli_1.4.1-1_all.deb
rw-rw-r-- 0/0  4 Mar 18 21:16 2013 debian-binary
rw-rw-r-- 0/0636 Mar 18 21:16 2013 control.tar.gz
rw-rw-r-- 0/0 9108275 Mar 18 21:16 2013 data.tar.gz

krzysztof@b1:~$ egrep -a 'debian-binary' zookeeper-cli_1.4.1-1_all.deb | tr -dc
'[:alnum:][:space:][:punct:]'
debian-binary/  1363641418  0 0 100664  4 `

A trailing slash is visible in the example above.

* Signing:

krzysztof@v1:~$ dpkg-sig -k 83F709E3 --sign builder
zookeeper-cli_1.4.1-1_all.deb
Processing zookeeper-cli_1.4.1-1_all.deb...
Signed deb zookeeper-cli_1.4.1-1_all.deb

* Verifying:

krzysztof@b1:~$ dpkg-sig -k 83F709E3 --verify zookeeper-cli_1.4.1-1_all.deb
Processing zookeeper-cli_1.4.1-1_all.deb...
BADSIG _gpgbuilder

* Actual signature (as per the content of added _gpgbuilder file):

Please note the trailing slash in the lines where checksums were added.

As per the deb file format guide a trailing slash is valid and Debian
package may contain it[2].

This can be reproduced on both Lucid and Precise, and current Debian -
pretty much every version of the dpkg-sig package is affected. It his
particular case it was the following:

krzysztof@b1:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Release:12.04
Codename:   precise

There is an existing bug open against it with Debian:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=356509

I am attaching a small (and probably incorrect) patch that was used by
me to fix the issue with GPG verification and creation. I use automated
package building facility (comprised of both FPM and dpkg-buildpackage
et al) and was relying on the dpkg-sig script when it goes to adding
and verifying files.

[Bug 1135418] Re: [FFe] Integrate Ubuntu plugin and update to 2.7 RC

2013-03-18 Thread Timo Jyrinki
It does support Qt4 development, and even seems to prefer it regarding
Qt version auto-detection, but the software itself needs to be built
against either Qt4 or Qt5. Not all of Qt5 features like Design tab
support for QML2 would be supported if compiled against Qt4. Offering a
good Qt5 support in addition to Qt4 support is related to offering the
Ubuntu SDK experience for those who want it.

[Bug 1011792] Re: Kernel lockup running 3.0.0 and 3.2.0 on multiple EC2 instance types

2013-03-18 Thread Nathan O'Sullivan
Can confirm this affects Dom0; with kernel 3.2.0-38 the attached pgslam and Xen
set as:
GRUB_CMDLINE_XEN=dom0_mem=7000M dom0_max_vcpus=24 dom0_vcpus_pin

I can get a crash within two minutes on 3.2.0-38. Still testing 3.2.0-39
but it certainly gets past the two minute park.

[Bug 1135418] Re: [FFe] Integrate Ubuntu plugin and update to 2.7 RC

2013-03-18 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Based on feedback many people are already using it for simultaneous Qt4
and Qt5 development via multiple Kits configuration. Qt4 for their
existing application development and Qt5 as they're starting to
familiarize with the it. It's relatively easy to make an application
support both at the same time, so they can consider targeting both
Android/Blackberry (currently Qt 4.8) and Ubuntu (Qt 5) at the same time
or start preparing for KDE Qt 5 transition.

Re: [Bug 1135418] Re: [FFe] Integrate Ubuntu plugin and update to 2.7 RC

2013-03-18 Thread Scott Kitterman
OK. It would have been nice to have some discussion with the team that's been
maintaining this package for years before making major changes like that.
Although we don't have formal maintainership as in Debian, it is considered a
polite thing to do.

Patches should be accepted upstream before going into our packages. Approved
to upgrade to 2.7 RC. Nack on introducing long term divergence from upstream.

Please provide a clear diff of the delta associated with this Ubuntu plugin.
Since I can't tell from the bug what the diff is, I don't have an opinion on if
it's appropriate or not (if changes are confined to the ubuntu plugin
directory, then I don't see an issue).

[Bug 1153224] Re: [FFE] Move to logind for session tracking

2013-03-18 Thread Martin Pitt
 Martin, is there a list of upstream software affected by the wrong
sd_booted() check?

Yes, it's linked from the spec: http://people.canonical.com/~pitti/tmp
/cgroup-sd_booted.txt

OK, so I'll go forward with disabling logind from the raring packages,
and keep it enabled in the PPA only. I'll also have a go at Unity today
(that's mostly monkey-patching), and filing upstream bugs for
sd_booted(), so that after raring's release there are more things in
place for the switch.
