[Bug 1167220] [NEW] NO Keyboard selection when on english
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 13.04 daily April 7 When starting a new ubuntu installation and set the language to English, there will be no questions about keyboard layout. i think to have to go to an icon above to change the keyboard layout is not intuitive and should be part of the selection process instead. You could always accept the default values. I particularly use English as the language but I'm on a computer that has a Swedish keyboard most of the time. Some times I do have to use Brazilian keyboards... It may seems a corner case but there are several people that uses English as the default language and a NOT English keyboard! Make it intuitive, stop to complicate things! Stop to assume! ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: installation keyboard -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1167220 Title: NO Keyboard selection when on english To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1167220/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 527938]
@Rainer Bielefeld, retested on LibreOffice v4.0.2.2 on Windows XP on both bugs suggested. First post from this 33266 bug is: Steps to reproduce - Install LO without Base - Open Writer - Select Tools - Bibliography Database - LO crash Crashes with Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\LibreOffice 4.0\program\soffice.bin abnormal program termination. I have tested this on two computers. In one crashes with above error and on another computer works fine. The difference is that LibreOffice crash computer there is no LibreOffice Base installed. So my suggestion is to gray out the Tools | Bibliography Database if LibreOffice Base is not installed. First post from bug report 62478 bug is: 1. Launch LibO 2. From LibO Start Center: Menu 'Tools - Options - Expand LibreOfficeDev Base' 3. Click 'Databases' Crash Tested on LibreOffice 4.0.2.2 on Windows XP on two computers. Crash does not appear in my case. [Bug 1167231] [NEW] Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() - Cannot mirror screen in good resolution
Public bug reported: I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Twist with Core i7 processor and on-chip HD4000 GPU. It has an internal 1366x768 (16:9) display and I have connected and external 1920x1080 (16:9) monitor via HDMI. By default the display gets mirrored with only 1024x768 (4:3) because this is the highest common resolution of the two reported by xrandr. I can switch to a large desktop formed by the two screens with the System Settings (section Display) with each screen using its native resolution. To get a better mirroring I tried to mirror my screen via the command xrandr --output LVDS 1--auto --output HDMI1 --auto --same-as LVDS1 taken from https://kis.kellogg.northwestern.edu/Pages/ExternalDisplaysLinux.aspx After that both screens showed garbage and do not react to mouse clicks and key presses any more. Unplugging the external screen left the internal with the garbage and I had to SSH in from another Ubuntu machine and run sudo restart lightdm to recover the display of the laptop. [Bug 1049466] Re: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support
Following the lead of David Samuels (#31 above), I installed Kernel 3.8, and then installed the firmware downloaded from kernel.org (as described in #8). My wireless is now working. However, the very odd thing is that it seemed to take some time for this solution to take effect. Immediately after following the above steps, wireless did not work and my network menu said 'device not ready', as others have reported. I spent the next hour or so trying to fix this, rebooting several times in the process, but to no avail. I gave up and went to bed. But this morning, when I logged in, the wireless was suddenly alive! (I guess David had a similar experience, since he reports needing to reboot twice.) My current situation seems very similar to what David describes above (I think we have similar computers -- mine is an HP Pavilion dm1 4400). In particular, bluetooth is absent. Perhaps more firmware is needed? Anyway, thanks to David and others for their comments on this forum. They have been very helpful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1049466 Title: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1049466/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1166916] Re: temperature overheating probably radeon
The open-source radeon driver is notorious for overheating laptops. Unfortunately, you cannot use fglrx/Catalyst on Ubuntu 12.10 or later for that GPU. Your best best is to stick with 12.04 and use the proprietary fglrx/Catalyst driver for now. Another option is using 12.10 and downgrading your Xserver using makson96 PPA, but that is a hack and may cause package management issues down the road (use at own risk): https://launchpad.net/~makson96/+archive/fglrx Note that AMD is working on releasing better power management code/docs, but it's currently still under legal review: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_itempx=MTM0MjA -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1166916 Title: temperature overheating probably radeon To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-lowlatency/+bug/1166916/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1167019] Re: wifi packet loss on intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000
I should point out I have two access points at opposite ends of the house, with the same ESSID. The one nearest my laptop right now is the only one it can see. It's a netgear wndr3700 running dd-wrt. The other one is the same model but running openwrt. The fact remains a macbook pro sat next to it maintained a solid connection while testing, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the access points. With Raring's current standard kernel I can get into the desired mirror mode via (also awkward): xrandr --addmode HDMI1 1366x768 xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1366x768 xrandr --output HDMI1 --mode 1366x768 --same-as LVDS1 Output of uname -a with the official kernel: Linux till-twist 3.8.0-17-generic #27-Ubuntu SMP Sun Apr 7 19:39:35 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1167231 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in OsAbort() - Cannot mirror screen in good resolution To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1167231/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1166230] Re: Updater lists many transitional dummy packages
Whether or not transitional dummy package is informative, that is what the Debian wiki currently recommends you use for the synopsis. http://wiki.debian.org/Renaming_a_Package And for all I know, maybe there are scripts or other tools for renaming a package, which embed that string in their code. If they exist, is it practical to change them to be more context-sensitive? If not, then we have to reduce the visible redundancy ourselves. Two questions: 1. Why do transitional dummy packages need updates at all? What needs updating about an empty package? 2. The description of most of those packages says that it can safely be removed. Why aren't we removing it instead of updating it? ** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1166230 Title: Updater lists many transitional dummy packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1166230/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1157114] Re: corruption making desktop unusable after docking/undocking
Interestingly there might be two separate issues here. Last night I pulled the laptop out of the dock while running and got visible corruption. Restarting compiz/unity had _no_ effect. I restarted the machine and then much later I docked the laptop while running and got the usual corruption. However this time, restarting unity made the issue go away. [Bug 1079605] Re: Please sync with the latest 0.109 from Sid
Latest Debian version: http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/i/initramfs- tools/current/changelog.html So the latest stable package is the 0.109, which fix lot of issues since the actual used 0.103 into Raring. The main issue i ALWAYS get with a cold boot is : ramdisk : incomplete write (which is affecting lot of users, while googling around). So some default initramfs.conf settings sould be changed now too, as: - using xz instead of gzip - using dep instead of most As that package ( the like) is important for booting, a sync with Debian Sid should be done before Raring freeze. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079605 Title: Please sync with the latest 0.109 from Sid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1079605/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1167265] [NEW] Please set maintainers to Ubuntu Developers instead of Anthony Wong
Public bug reported: According to the Ubuntu Packaging Guide Basic Overview of the debian/ directory Section 2 The control file (http://developer.ubuntu.com/packaging/html/debian-dir-overview.html#the-control-file) it says: Note that in Ubuntu, we set the Maintainer field to a general address because anyone can change any package (this differs from Debian where changing packages is usually restricted to an individual or a team). Packages in Ubuntu should generally have the Maintainer field set to Ubuntu Developers ubuntu-devel-disc...@lists.ubuntu.com. If the Maintainer field is modified, the old value should be saved in the XSBC- Original-Maintainer field. This can be done automatically with the update-maintainer script available in the ubuntu-dev-tools package. For further information, see the Debian Maintainer Field spec on the Ubuntu wiki. However in ibus-cangjie, pycangjie and libcangjie the Maintainer Field is set to Anthony Wong anthony.w...@ubuntu.com, which doesn't comply with the rules. Please fix this trivial bug. ** Affects: ibus-cangjie (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: libcangjie (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: pycangjie (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: libcangjie (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: ibus-cangjie (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1167265 Title: Please set maintainers to Ubuntu Developers instead of Anthony Wong To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus-cangjie/+bug/1167265/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
