[Bug 1263389] Re: make xkiosk is aborted with return code 127
The first bug is insserv. Its not accessible via the path. First quick dirty: change in file /usr/share/debirf/modules/a0_prep-root line 70 from debirf_exec sh -c 'cd /etc/init.d insserv $(ls | grep -vFx -e rc -e rcS -e skeleton -e README)' to debirf_exec sh -c 'cd /etc/init.d /usr/lib/insserv/insserv $(ls | grep -vFx -e rc -e rcS -e skeleton -e README)' But after that debirf runs into upstart - errors -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263389 Title: make xkiosk is aborted with return code 127 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debirf/+bug/1263389/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1263469] [NEW] [backport-request] 12.04.4 needs a newer version of lightDM-KDE
Public bug reported: hi Kubuntu developers, due to the strong efforts to backport * Hybrid graphics enablement in 12.04.4 bug #1259237 I have strong reason to believe the current version 0.1.1-0ubuntu0.1 may not fill the needs. [Bug 1258837] Re: [Dell Latitude E7440] ALPS touchpad keeps having state reset
From 3.5.0-30 and earlier: ⎡ Virtual core pointerid=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ PS/2 Generic Mouse id=12[slave pointer (2)] From 3.5.0-31 onwards: ⎡ Virtual core pointerid=2[master pointer (3)] ⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ DualPoint Stick id=12[slave pointer (2)] ⎜ ↳ AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePointid=13[slave pointer (2)] When I booted into 3.5.0-44 to check how xinput identifies the touchpad, the problem seemed a lot more severe and immediate. So I think later kernels may have more of a problem with their implementation. That might possibly help in terms of determining what makes the problem worse. [Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find
Daniel, thanks for your heroic efforts to reproduce the issue I described. I just followed your list of steps above with a fresh install of 14.04, fully updated. And I still see the bug! To be clear, after your steps above: 9) Open a Nautilus window on your home directory. 10) Click the list view icon. 11) With the mouse, click on the Desktop directory (the first item in the list). 12) Type t. The Templates directory will be selected. 13) Press Escape. Templates will still be selected. 14) Press the down arrow key. Documents (the second item in the list) will now be selected. This is unexpected: Videos should be selected at this time. 15) Type 't' again. Templates will be selected again, but a pale orange rectangle (i.e. the secondary selection) will still be visible around Documents, which is unexpected. 16) Press Escape again. The secondary selection rectangle will still be visible. 17) Press the down arrow again. Now Downloads will be selected, but Videos should be. What happens if you follow these steps? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1164016 Title: restore type-ahead find To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/1164016/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1245979]
I removed my nVidia card and the driver, and Akonadi starts OK now. I didn't experience the problems in the other reports in comment 52 of ^C not working in xterm (or Konsole, either). I have a suspicion that I was mistaken in comment 32 when I said that Akonadi only started 4 out of 5 times after renaming /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.Akonadi.Control.service. [Bug 342717] Re: fc-cache segfaults when scanning an italic BDF font with empty SETWIDTH_NAME
Related to the security issue, I don't know if the attached font is segfaulting for the same reason, but I had a session ending segfault when running fc-cache -fv. I went through the ~3000 custom fonts I have, and this is the only one I could find that segfaults. Though oddly, the segfault only killed my gnome-session the first time. I don't know if it's a fontconfig issue or a gnome issue, but with the font in a font load path other gnome issues occur as well: If gnome is locked, the unlock dialog won't appear. If no session exists and you try to login, the login seems to succeed, but the desktop never loads. Removing the font resolves these issues. Running fontconfig version 2.11.0 on Trusty. ** Attachment added: Font that causes a segfault when running fc-cache -fv https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/342717/+attachment/3934285/+files/ahronbd.ttf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/342717 Title: fc-cache segfaults when scanning an italic BDF font with empty SETWIDTH_NAME To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fontconfig/+bug/342717/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Still I need the proprietary drivers for my CAD stuff. [Bug 1263495] [NEW] rerunning Epiphany 3.10 opens two windows
Public bug reported: I'm running Trusty with Epiphany 3.10.3, which just landed there. To see the problem: 1. Launch Epiphany. 2. Exit Epiphany. 3. Launch Epiphany again. Two Epiphany windows will appear. (Usually both are full size, but sometimes one of them is tiny.) Actually when you exit Epiphany in step 2 the Epiphany process remains running in the background. If you kill this process before step 3 then only one window appears. I see the same problem if I build Epiphany 3.10.3 from source without any Ubuntu patches. The problem is no longer present in Epiphany 3.11 in git master, because the Epiphany developers made a change there so that Epiphany exits immediately: see https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=711409 https://git.gnome.org/browse/epiphany/commit/?id=78e8d7f045396cd753a73f9106e19b3bb3fe5d57 But that change was non-trivial, so it seems unlikely that the GNOME developers will backport it to the 3.10 branch. ** Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263495 Title: rerunning Epiphany 3.10 opens two windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/epiphany-browser/+bug/1263495/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1255761] Re: Can't configure country, languages, or spell checker
I think the lesson here is to not use localepurge? Knut, I suspect parts of your system are still botched because of localepurge, if you run debsums with sudo it *could* *maybe* give an indication of which files were altered/removed WRT localization causing issues like the dictionary names. However that better had been handled in a forum. Regarding your LANG setting... remove setlocale.sh, then log out, and back in. LANG should now have the values whatever you installed your system with (e.g. en_US-UTF-8). Make sure you select an appropriate country setting in systemsettings. setlocale.sh should be recreated upon saving the changes and should now be using UTF-8 and the specified country (e.g. es_ES.UTF-8). Anyway. Moving bug to localepurge. Perhaps that package needs a a couple of warning signs pointing out that using it is going to break one's system. Certainly would be handy information. ** Package changed: kde-runtime (Ubuntu) = localepurge (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: localepurge (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed ** Changed in: localepurge (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Summary changed: - Can't configure country, languages, or spell checker + localepurge breaks KDE l10n -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1255761 Title: localepurge breaks KDE l10n To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/localepurge/+bug/1255761/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1248287] Re: Apple Wireless Trackpad magicmouse crashes kernel on multitouch
Sure I'll try to file a new report for this topic. Chad Miller, would you mind to share few more. Do you have any chance to try Apple Magic Mouse, or try to name the track pad with MacOS? One more to be added is that I found that Apple Magic Mouse in fact could be programmed to have its own Device Name with MacOS. But Apple Wireless Trackpad seems does NOT. My Apple Magic Mouse has its Device Named named with it first paired with my MBP, but after that I failed to change the Device Name. Meanwhile, I have never succeeded to name my Apple Wireless Trackpad with my MBP. The fact is that, 8 out 10 times, the hci/lsinput/dbus/bluez/kernel etc found the Device Name of my trackpad is NULL, they took the Product name everywhere. Rarely, the hci/lsinput/dbuz/bluez/kernel report the correct Device Name as Apple Wireless Trackpad. And I think this Device Name in hci/lsinput causes troubles!!! Not only to kernel, but also version of KDE bluz wizard. If it can not pick the Device Name it would let you click Next Which is stupid. Thank god the KDE bluz integration works on Ubuntu, and there is bluetooth- agent you can use. Firing the bluetooth signal to Fedora 20, cause KDE Bluetooth help crashes -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1248287 Title: Apple Wireless Trackpad magicmouse crashes kernel on multitouch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1248287/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Ritesh Khadgaray, thank you for your testing. I would avoid using the mainline daily folder as this would be a downstream construct, and upstream may not be terribly interested in it. [Bug 1263504] [NEW] At login, have to click on icon to activate keyboard
Public bug reported: I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10. This morning, I couldn't type my password in at the login prompt. It was as if the keyboard was not being recognized. I verified that there was a prompt in the password box, so it's not an input focus issue. What's interesting is that if I hit Capslock, a capslock warning icon appears in the password box, so obviously the keyboard is functioning, but just not allowing me to type my password in. [Workaround] However, if I mouse click on the on-screen keyboard icon at the top of the screen (the icon's shaped like a little man), and then click back on the password box, keyboard input is recognized and I can finally type my password in. Once logged in, the keyboard works fine. I think this is not a keyboard driver issue, but a login screen issue.
