2014-01-20 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Setting this to Importance: Low; justification: Bugs that affect
unusual end-user configurations.

I suggest that you check to see if Debian or upstream directly (compiled
from upstream source without packaging) are affected and report this bug
in those places if they are affected.

[Bug 1270193] Re: /etc/init.d/munin-node not systemd compliant

2014-01-20 Thread Robie Basak
 The xfce4-power-manager depends on systemd-services.

Please help me out here. I am trying to triage this bug, but you aren't
answering my question. What proportion of Ubuntu users are likely to be
running in an affected configuration?

Is this limited to users who want to use munin (seeded in ubuntu-server
only) and who also use Xubuntu, Lubuntu or Ubuntu Studio (since xfce4
-power-manager is seeded in lubuntu, ubuntustudio and xubuntu only)?

I'm going to assume that the intersection of these two sets of users is
small, and thus this is an Importance: Low bug as described by
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance.

Patches welcome. Since munin no longer carries a delta in Ubuntu, it is
probably worth you communicating with Debian over any fixes.

[Bug 1263738] Re: login console 0 in user namespace container is not configured right

2014-01-20 Thread Seth Forshee
I've added an upstart task to the bug. After looking a bit more it seems
upstart is trying to always open terminal devices with O_NOCTTY, so the
tty ownership by init is likely unintentional and therefore a bug. I
haven't been able to find where in upstart this is happening, but on the
kernel side I can tell that it's due to an open() without O_NOCTTY. So
while I think the kernel change makes sense it seems like it's more of a
workaround for a bug in upstart.

[Bug 313240] Re: Directory /var/log/samba missing, no logs written

2014-01-20 Thread Will
I have this problem too.

I think it might be because I didn't realise I had samba installed
So I installed samba4 in Ubuntu 12.04
Realised that was the wrong thing to do
Purged samba4

I think that might have removed /var/log/samba

I restarted smbd
I now see /var/log/samba/log.smbd

Phew!

[Bug 1271000] [NEW] lxc-start fails with Out of memory reading cgroups

2014-01-20 Thread David Favor
Public bug reported:

Package might really be libcgroup1.

This seems to have stopped working with latest kernel upgrade.

To replicate failure...

# Use the 'sudo' command to run tasks as root in the container.
##

net1# lxc-start -n test
lxc-start: Out of memory reading cgroups
lxc-start: failed to spawn 'test'

Also now cgroup namespaces no longer shows up as enabled. Seems like
this did show up as enabled in previous kernel. Reading other bugs
reports, this seems to be okay + will be fixed upstream + I mention it
here because it's a difference.

net1# lxc-checkconfig | grep -v enabled

The cgroup mount point is showing up...

systemd on /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd type cgroup
(rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,none,name=systemd)
none on /sys/fs/cgroup type tmpfs (rw)

And there is now filesystem entry for the container named test under
/sys/fs/cgroup so this may also suggest a problem.

net1# ls /sys/fs/cgroup
net1#

[Bug 1270737] [NEW] webapp-container not installed by default - webapps fail to launch

2014-01-20 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Public bug reported:

webbrowser-app was recently split into two executables: /usr/bin
/webbrowser-app is the actual browser application, and /usr/bin/webapp-
container is the webapps container.

For backward compatibility, the browser application re-executes the
webapp container in place if it detects an intent to launch a webapp.

This works nicely if the webapp container is present, but it appears we
forgot to add it to the seed. As a consequence, all webapps fail to
launch (only displaying a white screen with no indication of what
happened).

Installing webapp-container solves the problem.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04

[Bug 1270424] Re: Click scope does not load in the emulator

2014-01-20 Thread David Planella
Here's what I've observed:

- On my desktop running trusty the click scope (More suggestions) showed up
after a while
- On my laptop running 13.10 the click scope did not show up, even after having
waited several minutes after the phone UI was up. However, after doing a searh
on the Applications scope, online results where shown. Then after closing the
search box, the click scope was shown.

So it seems that the click scope takes some convincing before being
loaded, but it eventually does, so please feel free to mark this bug as
Invalid if you think it makes sense.

[Bug 1269839] Re: text input focus zoom in U1 login form is obtrusive

2014-01-20 Thread Jonas G. Drange
** Description changed:

  What happened:
- Focusing the U1 login form[1][2] zooms in past the point where you can see
the whole input field[3].
+ Focusing user field in the U1 login form[1][2] zooms in past the point where
you can see the whole input field[3].

  What was expected:
I expected no zooming, similar to what you can expect on Android[4] and iOS.

I suspect webbrowser-app ignores the viewport meta extension when
focusing text fields, which was set to width=device-width.

  Reproducing:
Can be reproduce using the latest image available to the emulator.

[Bug 1268592] Re: gscan2pdf no longer launches in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS after ppa upgrade earlier today

2014-01-20 Thread Jeffrey Ratcliffe
I take it therefore, from the log file, that switching to the scanimage
frontend allowed you to quit gscan2pdf. This confirms that the problem
is the Sane thread not shutting down properly.

Do you turn off your scanner before quitting gscan2pdf?

Also, please confirm that you are able to quit when using the test
backend and the libsane-perl frontend:

gscan2pdf --log=log --device=test

Since very recent updates in the past 2 days of saucy, I am reproducing
the issue with all releases of psensor since 0.6 which means that it is
due to a change in underlying libraries (gtk, DE, etc) and not psensor.

[Bug 1270656] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 boots to blank console

2014-01-20 Thread Stefan Bader
The apport data from comment #11 shows a virtual machine on VMWare.
Looking at the first dmesg log, there seems to be some kind of resource
conflict between the simple-framebuffer driver and vmwgfx. For testing
you could probably try to create a file like /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-
testing.conf with a line blacklist vmwgfx in it. That should give some
console (maybe not the most performant).

[Bug 206884]

2014-01-20 Thread Sunny
Hi Athira,

You need to change (off) in [1] to Universal.

To see the change, you could just build toolkit/locales/ with `mach
build toolkit/locales/` and `mach run` to see the changes.

Good Luck!

[Bug 1270390] Re: request to add collection from network share is silently ignored

2014-01-20 Thread Harald Sitter
Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

Thanks!

What do you think about moving options from Typing section of gnome-tweak-tool

[Bug 1270234] Re: [MIR] process-cpp

2014-01-20 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
@Matthias process-cpp does not depend on lcov anymore. It was, but at
the time of filling in the MIR, lp:process-cpp is not depending on lcov
anymore. This MIR is actually related to the latest snapshot of process-
cpp in the bzr branch - we didn't release it because we need to do a
batch release of all 3 components: dbus-cpp, process-cpp and properties-
cpp.

So, all is fine in lp:process-cpp which is candidate for MIRing.

[Bug 1270389] Re: QMYSQL Driver not loaded Driver not loaded

2014-01-20 Thread Harald Sitter
Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the
KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate
your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at
https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this
speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more
effective debugging.

Thanks!

[Bug 1270572] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 should have gnome-tweak-tool installed by default because of many settings that are missed gnome-control-center

2014-01-20 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
My opinion on this topic is this:

Graphical interfaces shall be designed to let the user decide over the
work he's being performing; and to minimize decisions about technical
decisions, about how his computer shall behave.

The reason for this is it saves greats amounts of time; while this deep
customizability is mainly not intended for making software more
flexible, but just pass the user the responsibility of fixing by hand
design failures in software and hardware.

On the other hand, I think what meritocracy means is misunderstood by
some. Meritocracy is about letting who contributed more to a project
decide which scope represents better each individual one from the team;
not just only, as seen in
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=711426, saying we disagree.
So there's not feedback with what people needs at all!, although you
choose not to follow; what means decisions are based only in how the
project coordinator understands the world himself.

For simplifying:
- What people think they need is, most of the time, not exactly what they need.
- But what people don't like is never what they need.
- So what is needed is what is liked by both, developers and users.

[Bug 1267565] Re: psensor hangs when closing preferences

2014-01-20 Thread Jean-Philippe Orsini
Can be fixed by adding gdk_thread_enter/leave around gtk_dialog_run.
Guess the calls are missing in the Unity specific handling of the menus.
BTW, addind these calls may lead to freeze for other DEs... Require more
investigation and undestanding and may be a fix on Unity instead of
Psensor.

2014-01-20 Thread Greg Bowler
Off the top of my head, problems which rendered Geary unusable were:

* Certain types of attachment wouldn't show as an attachment on incoming email.
* Deleting an email deleted it completely. No bin, no undo.
* Moving multiple items to a folder/label is impossible.
* No email signatures.
* Columns are fixed width.

[Bug 1267565] Re: psensor hangs when closing preferences

2014-01-20 Thread Jean-Philippe Orsini
Obviously, it is related to the global Unity menu so to workaround the
issue, disable it for psensor by launching it using:

env UBUNTU_MENU_PROXY= psensor

@David could you please give a try to this workaround so I will be 100%
sure that your report is not about another issue?

[Bug 1218642] Re: read-edid 3.0.0 released, needs upgrade

2014-01-20 Thread Erik Brangs
The package is directly copied from Debian. It was orphaned in Debian
(see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=733145) in
December 2013. The best way to get a new version into Ubuntu would
probably be to get someone to adopt the package in Debian.
