[Bug 1320283] [NEW] The spell checker has a bug

2014-05-16 Thread Heike Harnack
Public bug reported:

Hi,

please notice that I use the german spell checking, but the bug can be
in any language.

It is similary to #629983, but not the same.

When I check words like ca., then the checker want to change the ca in ca.
I changed it once, get ca.. then changed it a second time and get ca...

The checker do not see the point after the word! I write it the right
way with point.

Used in Lubuntu 14.04 = Ubuntu 14.04 LTS

From Germany/Duisburg

Heike

[Bug 1318264] Re: Fix traceback to correctly deal with source port already in use errors

2014-05-16 Thread Scott Kitterman
I ran the upstream pypolicyd-spf test suite multiple times with the new
package and was unable to reproduce the error (in the past I was able to
at least intermittently reproduce it with the test suite) and confirmed
via code inspection that the installed package has the correct change.

[Bug 1314213] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X220] External DP1 monitor extremely unstable since upgrade to 14.04

2014-05-16 Thread pureblood
I have some new information. Apparently, I tried a different external
monitor with the displayport and the same 2560x1600 resolution and the
laptop worked just fine. I can run xrandr or unity-control-center while
the monitor is connected and there are no issues.

The monitor that does not work correctly has a display port-dvi adapter
and the resolution is not detected correctly. Because of that, I
manually add the resolution each time the computer boots with the
following command:

xrandr --newmode 2560x1600 268.00 2560 2608 2640 2720 1600 1603 1609
1646 -hsync +vsync; xrandr --addmode DP1 2560x1600; xrandr --newmode
1280x800 71.00 1280 1328 1360 1440 800 803 809 823 -hsync +vsync; xrandr
--addmode DP1 1280x800

And then I set the output to the monitor with the following command:

xrandr --output LVDS1 --off --output VGA1 --off --output HDMI1 --off
--output DP1 --mode 2560x1600

Therefore it is likely that this is a bug related to the display
port-dvi adapter.

[Bug 1311213] Re: Evolution 3.10.4 with EWS plugin: Calendar locks up application

2014-05-16 Thread Val Munoz
Guys, my apologies, but I don't seem to understand what exactly I need
to do to get this working. I added Moritz' PPA, ran apt-get update,
updated the evolution-data-server component, and was informed by apt-get
that it would be installing thefollowing:

  evolution-data-server-common evolution-data-server-online-accounts
  libcamel-1.2-45

and upgrading the following:
  evolution-data-server evolution-data-server-common
  evolution-data-server-online-accounts libcamel-1.2-45

I then ran a restore of my EWS account to Evolution, and the calendar is
still freezing.

Sorry to be such a pain, but can someone please explain exactly what I
need to do to get this patch applied properly?

Thank you,

[Bug 201750] Re: Cannot remount loopfiles

2014-05-16 Thread Noorez
ref: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-
tools/+bug/1317437

possibly related to this bug:

The kernel parameter 'rw' was required to make loopinstalled (wubi)
ubuntu 14.04 boot. I have a small fix for the initramfs-tools that fixes
this.

The loop device that root.disk was mounted on needs to be setup read-
write so that the loop filesystem can be remounted as read-write from
read-only.

I have a patch almost ready... (first ever ubuntu patch so working
through the process...)

[Bug 1320022] Re: [Dell Latitude E6540] ALPS touchpad keeps having state reset

2014-05-16 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.15 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,

[Bug 1317147] Re: [SRU] swift-proxy needs python-pecan =0.4.5, but 0.3.0 is present when used with ceilometer

2014-05-16 Thread James Page
If folks want to try out the proposed fix while I'm testing:

   sudo add-apt-repository ppa:james-page/ceilometer
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade

** Description changed:

  [Impact]
ceilometer filter usage in swift-proxy is broken; users can't get telemetry
on object storage usage.

  [Test Case]
+ sudo apt-get install swift-proxy ceilometer-common
+ configure ceilometer egg into pipeline following
http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/install-guide/install/apt/content/ceilometer-install-swift.html
+ sudo start swift-proxy (fails with error detailed below)

Thank you very much for solving this.

I have been holding-off upgrading my primary system to enjoy my color
customization for as long as possible, and this will allow me to upgrade
now.

I have a question regarding it, though.

If I include the PPA, when the actual fix goes into the system, do I
need to remove the PPA? Will the fix eventually come to me from the
repository as an update? If I simply upgrade when 14.04.01 is
available, will I get the fix through normal means?

I do have some test systems I can test it on. My primary system is
another matter.

I am really busy now, but I hope to be able to get to it soon.

seems that there is a problem with your hardware. I recommend
performing a back up and then investigating the situation. Measures you
might take include checking cable connections and using software tools
to investigate the health of your hardware. In the event that is is not
in fact an error with your hardware please set the bug's status back to

[Bug 1320292] [NEW] ABI incompatibility between POWER and Z HTM builtins and intrinsics

2014-05-16 Thread Peter Bergner
Public bug reported:

The IBM XL team defined a set of HTM intrinsic functions that were supposed
to be API compatible across the XL and GCC compilers on both Power and S390.
PR61193 describes an issue where the functions that begin a transaction
are incompatible. The Power intrinsics return non-zero on success, while
the S390 intrinsics return zero on success.

After discussing this with the XL compiler team, the S390 GCC team and
the Power GCC team, we have decided to leave the incompatibility between
Power and S390. However, the XL and GCC compilers will be compatible
with each other when targeting the same processor target. To mitigate
the incompatibility somewhat, we have decided to add a macro to the
powerpc*-linux's htmintrin.h file that defines what the successful
return status value of the __TM_simple_begin() and __TM_begin() intrinsic
function is. This macro is already defined in the S390's htmintrin.h
header file and is used by the S390 to determine whether the transaction
was successfully started or not. By adding the same macro on Power, we
allow users to write common code between Power and S390, even though our
successful return status values are different.

For example, the following code can be used on Power and S390, even
though the actual value returned by __TM_simple_begin() is different.

  if ((tx_state = __TM_simple_begin ()) == _HTM_TBEGIN_STARTED)
{
  /* Transaction State Initiated.  */
  ...
}
  else
{
  /* Transaction State Failed.  */
  ...
}

David approved this offline, so I'm committing this to GCC mainline as
revision 210486, as well as the 4.9 (210487) and 4.8 (210488) branches.

[Bug 1319983] Re: notify-osd loses pending bubble if append occurs when bubble is not yet visible

2014-05-16 Thread Lars Uebernickel
** Description changed:

- When a notification specifiying x-canonical-append:true is recieved and
- merges with a bubble the bubble will be lost if the bubble is not yet
- visible. We will also update times incorrectly on any synchronous
- bubble.
+ [Impact]
+ When a notification specifiying x-canonical-append:true is recieved and
merges with a bubble the bubble will be lost if the bubble is not yet visible.
We will also update times incorrectly on any synchronous bubble.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Running the attached scripts (play.py and play2.py) show the issue: bubbles
after the first one aren't shown, because they specify x-canonical-append. The
attached branch fixes that.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ The patch only touches code that is concerned with updating an existing
notification. This is currently broken anyway.

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2014-05-16 Thread Felipe Figueiredo
Leandro (bug reporter), it has been sugested that bug #228077 be linked
with this one. It describes the same problem and same workarounds, but
is older (2008) and has been linked to the upstream bug report and bugs
in other services. It also has much less noise in the comments.

Would you mind if this report was set as a duplicate to the other one?
We could then change the description to reflect the proposal of adding a
new keyboard layout instead of changing the default layout, if that's
still the case.

[Bug 1293569] Re: iwlwifi-7260-8.ucode causes network disconnections problems

2014-05-16 Thread Jason Gerard DeRose
Emmanuel,

I'll test the -9.ucode ASAP. Are there any bits from 3.14 or 3.15 that
should be backported in order for the Ubuntu 3.13 kernel to work best
with the -9.ucode?

System76 customers are experiencing a lot of problems with 7260/3160
cards, and so we're keen on getting -9.ucode in a linux-firmare SRU,
assuming that's the correct fix.

Interestingly, -8 seemed to work much better on our products than -7
does, which I guess could be related to a lot of factors (different
antenna designs, different card revisions, different APs, etc). For us,
reverting to -7 seems to create problems similar to those that people
are here attributing to -8.

FWIW, on this 7260 (rev 73) I'm testing:

Device: 04:00.0
Class: Network controller [0280]
Vendor: Intel Corporation [8086]
Device: Wireless 7260 [08b1]
SVendor:Intel Corporation [8086]
SDevice:Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 [4070]
Rev:73

I'm frequently getting disconnects like this, on both the G and AC
routers I test with regularly:

[Bug 1316320] Re: Screen Lock does not prompt for password

2014-05-16 Thread Charlie Ott
Hmm... I see, the Unity Panel allows the User to enable the gnome screen
lock, which is not using SSSD (even though I have it installed) so it
just hangs in a loop when trying to unlock the screen.

Also the keyring seems to have the same problem, generating hundreds of
thousands of keyring.temp files in /home/user/.local/share/keyring

Unfortunately Google chrome prompts users to enable the keyring every
time :(

Had to use the find . -type file -delete command to remove them all.

[Bug 1320298] [NEW] Unneeded quirk for Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-quirks.conf

2014-05-16 Thread Margarita Manterola
Public bug reported:

With the version of xserver-xorg-core in Trusty, the file
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-quirks.conf includes quirks for the
Evoluent Mouse that go against what users were used to, what is
recommended by the manufacturer and what is configured in other
Operating Systems.

The change has already been reverted in Fedora:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=612140

And has also been reported in Debian:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=739537

Please remove the Evoluent stanza from the file. This is a regression
in the previous and expected behavior, and as such, the fix should be
backported to Trusty.

Thanks!

[Bug 1320299] [NEW] Nemo crashed during file rename

2014-05-16 Thread Scott Cowles Jacobs
Public bug reported:

I was renaming a file. It had a dash in it, and I have noted before that Nemo
sometimes stops echoing characters received during a rename, possibly due to
the dash (but not sure). I clicked outside the box to see what characters had
really been received and set, then re-selected rename from the context menu
again, to correct the file name. I think I deleted the dash, and perhaps made
some other change (added and/or deleted some characters), and then noted that
nemo was not responding. Shortly thereafter, it disappeared. At about the
same time, Lubuntu 14.04 reported an internal error - I do not know if that is
related or not...
That's all I know.

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c

2014-05-16 Thread Leandro
I wouldn't mind if this bug is marked as duplicate. However, at this point I
wouldn't say that this is exactly a bug. I have the impression that there is a
standard behavior in all new installations that Right-ALT + comma
gives the ç letter, so that it is possible to create the ç letter in the en_US
with dead keys layout.

I still think that it is very important that a new keyboard layout
differing from the current one only in that should be created. Maybe
this should not be a bug anymore, but a request of a feature (the new
keyboard layout).

In any case, it does not seem that these reports are getting to the
right persons, who could make that decision.

To clarify: When I say gdb in the report I mean GDB for a native

Of course the last sentence has to be read: But if nobody seems to be

And I really do not understand why this problem is existing since 2008,

[Bug 1320307] [NEW] snapshot command doesn't work with x86

2014-05-16 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

Using the 14.04 ppa packages, the snapshot functionality does not appear
to work.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create an x86 image by doing:
$ sudo XDG_CACHE_HOME=$HOME/emulator ubuntu-emulator create
--channel=ubuntu-touch/utopic-proposed --arch=i386 test_x86

2. start the emulator:
$ ubuntu-emulator run --scale=0.5 test_x86

3. Wait for it to show unity, then cleanly shutdown:
$ adb shell shutdown -h now

Then I waited for the console to tell me:
 * All processes ended within 1 seconds... [ OK ]

at which point I closed the emulator window.

4. update the pristine snapshot:
$ ubuntu-emulator snapshot --create=pristine test_x86

5. start the emulator:
$ ubuntu-emulator run --scale=0.5 test_x86

6. Create a file on the device:
$ adb shell touch /foo

7. Forcibly shutdown the emulator by closing the window.

8. Revert to pristine:
$ ubuntu-emulator snapshot --revert-pristine test_x86

9. start the emulator:
$ ubuntu-emulator run --scale=0.5 test_x86

At this point I would expect /foo to not exist in the emulator, but it does:
$ adb shell ls -l /foo
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 May 16 17:30 /foo

[Bug 1320310] [NEW] Installation fails on machines without fqdn

2014-05-16 Thread Hadmut Danisch
Public bug reported:

Hi,

when trying to install stone on a machine without a domain part in the
hostname (i.e. without fqdn), the postinst script permanently fails.

The reason is that

xDOMAINNAME=`hostname -d`

aborts with an exit value 0 (that's what's hotsname -d does if it can't
resolve) and causes the shell to abort the script.

This should not happen. It should never go into an endless installation
failure loop just because the host name does not have a domain part.

ProblemType: Bug

Package: stone 2.3.e-2build1

[Bug 1320313] [NEW] permission denied mkdir /root/.cache

2014-05-16 Thread Peter Hultqvist
Public bug reported:

Running as root:
# sudo ubuntu-emulator create u1

Creating u1 from ubuntu-touch/devel revision 28
Downloading...
Cannot download
https://system-image.ubuntu.com/pool/ubuntu-af0e050fca683dd4b7747b616952745496ed8542cece16ca5e6d13f00886d2de.tar.xz:
 mkdir /root/.cache: permission denied

First I thought that it might be because /root was a symlink so I moved it away
and created a new /root dir
Same error

Then I ran mkdir /root/.cache
Followed by the same ubuntu-emulator create u1 which now reported:
...
Creating u1 from ubuntu-touch/devel revision 28
Downloading...
Cannot download
https://system-image.ubuntu.com/pool/ubuntu-af0e050fca683dd4b7747b616952745496ed8542cece16ca5e6d13f00886d2de.tar.xz:
 mkdir /root/.cache/ubuntuimages: permission denied

And the same for: mkdir /root/.cache/ubuntuimages/pool

Now the error message reads:
Cannot download
https://system-image.ubuntu.com/pool/ubuntu-af0e050fca683dd4b7747b616952745496ed8542cece16ca5e6d13f00886d2de.tar.xz:

This is where I'm stuck right now

[Bug 1319630] Re: 85% performance hit in iwlwifi from 12.04 to 14.04

2014-05-16 Thread Joseph Salisbury
This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report[0]? That will allow the upstream Developers to examine the issue,
and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.

Please follow the instructions on the wiki page[0]. The first step is to
email the appropriate mailing list. If no response is received, then a
bug may be opened on bugzilla.kernel.org.

Once this bug is reported upstream, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-
reported-upstream'.

[Bug 1320306] Re: system-image-cli failing on goldfish (utopic image 28)

2014-05-16 Thread Barry Warsaw
This happens when a 'canceled' signal comes form ubuntu-download-
manager. It's unclear why udm would send such a signal to s-i, but that
should be captured in the udm log file. I'm adding a udm bug task so
Manuel can help debug the situation. In the meantime can you please
attach /var/log/system-image/client.log and /var/log/ubuntu-download-
manager/ubuntu-download-manager.* (yes, there are probably multiple udm
log files).
