[Bug 1357877] [NEW] cannot disable date and time notification
Public bug reported: I want to disable the notifications for date and time because they take too much space on the status line. However, unticking them via 'F9 - Toggle status notifications' does not make them go away. All other notifications do not show up when I untick them in the dialog. In ~/.byobu/status I see 'date' and 'time' as deactivated for the active 'tmux_right' setting. My current workaround involves editing ~/.byobu/datetime.tmux and setting those variables to . I have Ubuntu 14.04.1 and byobu 5.77-0ubuntu1.2. My default shell is set to fish if that makes a difference (it does for vundle). ** Affects: byobu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to byobu in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1357877 Title: cannot disable date and time notification To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/byobu/+bug/1357877/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1357863] Re: gitk won't start: unknown color name
This problem was solved a few minutes ago. I followed this bug report on Red Hat Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1043686. In there, I should do clearing out the X resources: 1) xrdb -load /dev/null (xrdb is X server resource database utility from manpage) 2) xrdb -query 3) wish (wish is a Tk simple windowing shell application from manpage, probably invoked for testing purpose only here) 4) I should uncheck KDE System Settings - Application Appearance - Colors - Options - Apply colors to non-KDE4 applications. Yes I use KDE, and I have not mentioned it before. I am sorry. In KDE 4.10 of mine, I don't need to relogin. [Bug 1164780] Re: Google account login is asked again and again
1. This affects my machines running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit. It is a problem with Google account alone - Microsoft Live, Facebook and Twitter accounts linked are remembered. This problem has started possibly with an update (Ubuntu or Google) sometime in July 2014. 3. The other clue is that I do not get Google's login page as I had at the first time entry in April; instead I get two simple textboxes for username (filled-in with my GMail address and grayed), and one for password entry, with Ok, Cancel buttons. Public bug reported: The regex on line 12 in /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/dhclient needs updating since it does not match the current output from dhclient The current line (12) as included in version 1.3.16 of logcheck-database looks like this: ^\w{3} [ :0-9]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ dhclient(-2.2.x)?: DHCP(REQUEST|RELEASE) (of [.0-9]{7,15} )?on [[:alnum:].-]+ to [.0-9]{7,15} port 67$ The line should look something like this is order to match the current outpt format of dhclient: ^\w{3} [ :0-9]{11} [._[:alnum:]-]+ dhclient(-2.2.x)?(\[[[:digit:]]+\])?: DHCP(REQUEST|RELEASE) (of [.0-9]{7,15} )?on [[:alnum:].]+ to [.0-9]{7,15} por t 67( \(xid=0x[0-9a-f]+\))?$ This has been observed on a fresh install of ubuntu server 14.04.1 (no upgrades from previous versions). [Bug 1357871] Re: Boot to kernel higher then 3.13.0.29
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1357871/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1357910] [NEW] Gnome Shell 3.10.4 on Ubuntu 14.04.1 Does Not Lock Screen After Resume From Suspend or Hibernate
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: I recently installed a fresh 14.04.1 system (with a separate partition for the /home directory from 12.04). As expected bugs and tweaks here and there are present but with the help of forums, I was able to solve them one by one. There are just a few now remaining but this one looks critical and there seems to be no answer from the forums: gnome-shell does not lock (no passwords asked) after resuming from either suspend or hibernate. I checked all the settings, gconf, dconf, Settings Privacy Lock Screen on Suspend. I suspend / hibernate, then resume / thaw, and the desktop directly goes to my user, no locking has happened. WORKAROUND: After the first login, I lock the screen, eg Ctrl + Alt + L. Lock screen works. Then I suspend / hibernate, then resume / thaw: Lock screen works again. So in order for the Lock to work, I had to do an initial Ctrl + Alt + L. Known problem: http://askubuntu.com/questions/397819/ubuntu-13-10-and- xfce4-no-sound-at-all With 2012.04 I could just uncheck the mute button and things were back to normal. Now I need to open Audio Mixer and unmute everything. (It also appears I need to unmute the Headphones to hear sounds from the internal speakers.) As someone who works in an environment where I regularly need to mute this behavior is very annoying. 1) The volume sliders should never mute. 2) There should be a mute checkbox. 3) The unmute options should unmute everything which was muted. [Bug 1332165] Re: udevd --daemon does not close stdout
The problem was reported against 12.04, and as far as I can see no fix has been released. Now, the problem in #1287943 / #1332155 still continues. That is: # /usr/sbin/debootstrap --arch=i386 trusty /tmp/tmpBQAxhc http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu | strace cat db.out hangs at the step I: Base system installed success, until the udev --daemon process is killed manually. However, repeating the test you gave, I see: # udevd --daemon # ps auxwww | grep udev root 335 0.0 0.1 17236 640 ?S11:47 0:00 upstart-udev-bridge --daemon root 337 0.0 0.2 21560 1372 ?Ss 11:47 0:00 /sbin/udevd --daemon root 561 0.0 0.1 21556 936 ?S11:47 0:00 /sbin/udevd --daemon root 3032 0.0 0.1 21460 852 ?S11:50 0:00 /sbin/udevd --daemon root 16551 1.0 0.2 21464 1116 ?Ss 11:57 0:00 udevd --daemon brian16553 0.0 0.1 9396 928 pts/1S+ 11:57 0:00 grep --color=auto udev # ls -l /proc/16551/fd/ total 0 lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 0 - /dev/null lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 1 - /dev/null lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 10 - anon_inode:[eventpoll] lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 2 - /dev/null lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 3 - socket:[26456] lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 4 - socket:[26457] lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 5 - /run/udev/queue.bin lr-x-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 6 - anon_inode:inotify lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 7 - anon_inode:[signalfd] lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 8 - socket:[26493] lrwx-- 1 root root 64 Aug 17 11:58 9 - socket:[26494] That is, it does appear that FDs 0/1/2 are all redirected to /dev/null when udevd is run manually. ppid of 16551 is 1. And finally, the following python script *does not* hang: import subprocess subprocess.call([/sbin/udevd, --daemon], stdout=subprocess.PIPE, stderr=subprocess.PIPE) So something more subtle is happening. debootstrap is doing *something* to run udevd --daemon in a way that it hangs waiting for it to terminate, but it's not just waiting for FD 0/1/2 to close. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1332165 Title: udevd --daemon does not close stdout To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/1332165/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1357928] Re: [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel MID, playback] volume slider problem - Slide to bottom and sound stays off even when slider moved up again
does it support 5.1 since there are three jacks at same location (ext left) on your notebook ? Three separate jacks, one labeled with a microphone and two labeled with headphone images. is it dual headphone jacks or headphone and line out ? It looks like dual headphone. I've never used them, the headsets I've attached are USB. do you mean the name of volume control of line out Jack should not pcm ? I don't understand the question. When I lower the volume mute is automatically applied to Master, Headphone, Speaker, and PCM (as shown in Audio Mixer - HDA Intel MID (Alsa mixer). This happens in one of three ways: 1) Pressing quieter(not mute) past a certain point on the computer keyboard. 2) Dropping slider past a certain point in the XFCE panel Audio Mixer widget. 3) Dropping the Master slider past a certain point in Audio Mixer. In none of these cases do I want mute, I want the sound back when I move the slider up or press louder. I shouldn't have to run the full Audio Mixer and click four buttons and move a slider before sound appears. I am only concerned with the sound sent to the internal speakers. However, I just checked and I do need to unmute all four places (including Headphone and Speakers) before sound comes out of the internal speakers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1357928 Title: [HDA-Intel - HDA Intel MID, playback] volume slider problem - Slide to bottom and sound stays off even when slider moved up again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1357928/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
